I have to say I was very lucky to have found this TM at my local Big Lots awhile ago when I saw a few girls online talking about finding PF products there. I was so happy to find a few things with a great price so I always heard good things about this TM and this I knew was the time to give it a try.
~~~~~~~~~~ PRICE & AVAILABILITY ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Physicians Formula Tinted Moisturizer can be found in most drugstores like CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid as well as most mass discount stores like Target, Kmart & Walmart. The price will vary as with any d/s product depending on location, sales, discounts & coupons. PF is generally very expensive & I think over priced for d/s but their products are good. I would like to try a few more products from them but they are expensive to me. Healthy Wear TM is priced generally around $12. I was lucky to find mine at Big Lots for only $4.50 which is a really great price. I would repurchase bc I like it but I'd def wait for a clearance sale.
~~~~~ SHADE & FORMULA & PERFORMANCE ~~~~~~~
PF Healthy Wear Tinted Moisturizer is a great lightweight tinted moisturizer which includes a spf 50. A high spf which is great for those who want to skip that step. Its great for my super pale skin. PF claims it " protects with its SPF boosters of 50 to stay protected longer w/out residue or greasiness. Its Prevents w/ potent antioxidant blend helps to prevent future UV damage & premature signs of aging. It also restores using licorice extracts, tomato derivatives which brighten skin & diminish the appearance of sun spots. There are so many great aspects of this TM. I purchased lightest shade "Ivory to Fair #7066" which sadly is still too dark for me. Its a warm tone shade. Those w/ very pale skin like me (w/ cool undertones) will find it too dark & warm but I have other fndts that I mix this with that makes it work. The shade will work for some. The formula is a thicker moisturizer feel, applies & blends easily. I like to use a damp sponge or my fingers for more coverage. The coverage is light but still evens out skin & covers some redness & discoloration. I can't use this alone since the color doesn't work for me. Of most TM's i've tried, this one is really good. Great for those w/ good skin or those who want a lightweight non-cakey foundation feel. It doesn't feel thick or heavy on the skin. Blends out w/out drying or emphasizing my dry spots. Wears well. I don't emphasize pores or wrinkles. It blends easily into skin without drying or pulling in any areas. It will work best for normal, dry or combo skin. Those w/ oily skin beware that it may oxidize or wear off easily for you. I don't like to set w/ powder unless its really hot outside. A light dusting is enough. I like how it doesn't dry out my skin & feels good throughout the day. I didnt notice any oxidizing or vanishing areas so it stays on well. I really like the almost gel like feeling/consistency. Can even work as a primer/moisturizer for those who need more coverage. This is a really nice tinted moisturizer. I just wish it wasn't so dark but it does not dry darker, which is nice as well. On top of a primer, this lasts for around 6 hours or so before i see a natural fading as w/ any tinted moisturizer. Setting w/ a powder may help it last longer. I like the natural finish, not matte nor dewy. Its natural looking.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~ PACKAGING ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
PF Healthy Wear Tinted Moisturizer comes in a really fun bright orange tube. The lid has a cute little pink ribbon. The logo/labeling is in bright pink writing. I like the packaging. It always draws my eyes to it. This includes the typical 1.0 fl oz of product. This tube is hard plastic and slim. The lid pops on/off easily. The pump is easy to use. Doesn't disperse too much product. Easily pump what is needed. I find this to be great packaging. I would like more foundation to be packaged like this. The only issue I would maybe say is that you can't see through the tube so it's hard to tell how much product is left. That's my only minor complaint. Otherwise, its fun & cute & very travel friendly. Can take it in your bag & go.
Overall, this is a really great tinted moisturizer. Its on the pricier end of drugstore makeup as most PF products are but if you are looking for a lightweight but decent coverage and have normal to dry skin, this will work for you. There unfortunately not too many shades to pick from either which is a bummer but I make it work. I see myself reaching for this in all seasons. Great for summer for the less is more & also even in winter since it does not dry out my skin like more matte formulas do. Overall, a really good product from Physicians Formula. Wish I could try more from their line. I would recommend to those who are looking for the coverage of a tinted moisturizer or who don't need a whole lot of makeup. I prob won't repurchase since I bought two at Big Lots & it will take me awhile to get through them since I can't use it on its own.
I bought this last summer and thought at first that it would be too dark for my skin (I believe I have the medium/tan shade), but it turned out that with a summer tan it blended nicely. The product gives good coverage and the SPF totally works. I've had the same bottle for over a year. I wore it this weekend while in the sun all day long and while my chest got singed with a typical SPF 15 on it, my face was protected under this tinted moisturizer. My only gripe is that it's very thick and greasy. I would use it every day if it weren't for the greasy texture! Overall, really nice product, especially for the price (I think it was about $10-$12)...but I wish they'd work on an oil-free version.
Amazing! If your skin is in the drier side and you love compliments GET THIS!!!
I would say the coverage is medium to full and the finish is luminous/glowy great if you are into dewy skin.
The price is really good
The spf is amazing
The pump bottle is easy to use and super cute.
BEST FOUNDATION EVER....
I think this product is worth repurchasing but let me get the bad comments out of the way.
First off the packaging sucks, I don't know if it's cause I'm clumsy, but the cap keeps falling off and I do not recommend it for purse storage, but I do like the pump. Second bad thing that everyone else has acknowledged is the thick texture that can be extra horrid for those with oily skin.
However, I think the good aspects are so great that I will only take off one star! I had horrible acne and tried to avoid make up during that time so it wouldnt aggravate my skin, but I thought I'd give tinted moisturizers a try. There was a period in my life where the healing process of my acne greatly accelerated and it was because of this product. On the package it claims that there is licorice and tomato extract which lighten scars, and did just that. The heavy coverage that everyone complains about actually really helped protect my skin throughout a sunny day!To deal with the "grease" that people complain about, I use rice sheets to blot and it did not break me out at all. I truly believe this product has helped my acne, and I will continue to use it until my acne troubles are over.
I will admit though, if you do not have troubled skin at all, this product is not worth using. If I had perfect skin I would not voluntarily use this product either because it is a bit troublesome to combat the texture all the time. But it is truly "Healthy wear"
I've compared this with all the really expensive tinted moisturizers with sunscreen and it always wins out. Heavy coverage so not for those that want a sheer wash of color. Stays on through 3 sets of tennis, easy to use pump, and everyone always compliments my "beautiful" skin.
For middle aged women who have issues to cover and need moisture, this is by far the best. SPF 50 is a bonus!
I like Physicians Formula products and I was looking for a really light foundation with a decent SPF. I worked for a cancer organization as a fundraiser so I was happy to see that the product is endorsed by the Skin Cancer Foundation. I have really fair skin (I bought the ivory to fair color) that tends to be dry but I don't like the feel of heavy foundation so this is perfect. Luckily, my face is in good shape at 40 years old (very few wrinkles due to taking care of my skin over the years) and I want to keep it in good shape. I like the lightweight feeling and it just adds a hint of color which is perfect because I'm really active so this works great throughout the day. I was lucky because I found it at discounted price so it was a great bargain. And no parabens and fragrance-free (great for my sensitive skin). Great product - would buy it again!
This just didn't do it for my oily skin. Upon application, it feels sticky and oily and doesn't feel comfortable on the skin. After setting it with a powder, I find myself shiny after 3 hours or so ... does not have a good lasting power. I used this in the winter too! I can't imagine how disaterous it'll be in the summer. There's a suncreen-y scent to it, but it doesn't really bother me all too much. This might work for people with normal or drier skin, but I'd stay away from this if you have oily skin like me!
I used this when I was a camp counselor the past few summer's. With it being 85+ degrees outside and running around the campgrounds, the SPF 50 was a definite need for my pale skin! It also had a full, luminous coverage that lasted all day, through sweat AND swimming! Overall great first-time tinted moisturizer!
I picked this up on a whim at Big Lots for $3 because it it was so cheap, plus it has the 3 in 1 combo I need: sunscreen, moisturizer, and foundation.
This has much more coverage than I was expecting, so that was a pleasant surprise, however, it also feels "heavy" on the skin. I am not used to that and would have preferred a lighter feel so I had to take away one star for that. The second time I applied it, I mixed it with a drop of water and it felt better and also spread and blended more easily.
This product can separate so you definitely need to shake it up first or it will come out icky.
Kudos for the pump dispenser except for the orange color. It cheapens the look of the product but it sure is easy to spot in the bottom of my purse. In my opinion, all cream/liquid products should be in a pump dispenser. It controls the amount well and also keeps contaminants out of the bottle.
I agree with other opinions here that the shades might be a little on the dark side. The only shade they had was "Ivory to Fair" and I was afraid it might be too light but it wasn't at all.
This is my favorite tinted moisturizer. I used this in the summer, because it has a slightly drier finish, unlike most TM's that never set. This is not to say it is a matte finish, when set with powder I would be quite glowy by the end of the day (which I like!). I have pores, dark acne scars, and oily t-zone. Has good coverage, like a lightweight foundation: I used 1 pump if using in place of foundation, or if wearing alone I would use 2 pumps to help downplay acne scarring.
I like that is has SPF50, & my skin usually looks improved after I remove it. I think the tomato extract may be slightly exfoliating. The packaging is nice because it has a pump which dispenses a nice pea-sized amount, as well as coming with a little cap. Not a fan of the pink & orange color scheme, admittedly. The only cons to this product are the price (for $15 I could buy a full-cover DS foundation) & finding a match to your shade. They run a little dark, and can oxidize, but mine only slightly darkened, not as severe as the uploaded picture. Perhaps setting with powder makes the difference.
If you are debating between this and the other organic wear spf15 TM from Physician's Formula, it would depend on your skin type and desired coverage. I would recommend this one for oily skin & a little higher coverage. It is not always flattering on dry patches & can cling to flakes. The organic wear is much more liquidy and sheer, also a bit more moisturizing for dry skin.
If MUA had .5 scoring, I'd rate it 4.5, I just don't believe in giving 5's unless a product is truly perfect. Hopefully this review wasn't too disorganized, this is my first review & I typed it on an iPad. So far, it's basically been an HG for me.
I found this at Big Lots for dirt cheap! This has way more coverage than the average tinted moisterizer. I have mine in ivory/fair. It looks a little dark when you pump it out, but once applied to the skin it blends in perfectly. It lasts all day and looks really natural. Too bad it is discontinued! I have to go back to Big Lots and get a few more bottles. Sooner or later I'll have to find something else to replace it, but for now I am totatally in love with it.
This is my everyday go to foundation. I use the med to tan and add a drop of bronzer to bring it to the perfect color for my skin. I have an light olive tone and live in FLorida and ths lasts all day, with a dash of mineral powder to handle the little bit of "glow" that it imparts. It has more coverage than most TMs. When I need to jump start my day without doing the moisturizer, SPF etc. - this is great. I use a damp sponge to apply.
Ahhhhh! I picked this up at big lots, after reading the good reviews and the cheap price. I knew it was discontinued, but I just wanted to try it. I love it! I mix it with my regular moisturizer, and it gives me just the right amount of coverage. The way I do it makes the coverage really light and subtle. It has to settle in your skin, but it doesn't oxidize or break me out. I love this stuff! I need to go to more big lots and stock up. Get it if you can!
This is the first tinted moisturizer I've ever tried, and I wanted to love it, but the color is simply way too dark and way too orange to come anywhere close to matching my NW15 skin.
I wish I'd read reviews here before I ordered this online.
I can't think of anyone I know who has skin this color,so I just tossed the moisturizer.
At least it was an inexpensive lesson. I'm willing to try other tinted moisturizers, but I won't be re-purchasing this one.
I LOVE THIS. I can't believe the coverage - it covers all of my redness, which is something I've rarely found in a foundation, let alone a tinted moisturizer! Lately I have been using Lorac Neutralizer mixed with either TheBalm's BalmShelter tinted moisturizer, Maybelline's Dream Fresh BB cream, or Garnier's BB cream, because all 3 tend to turn slightly orange on me and don't cover enough of my redness, but with this product I don't need the neutralizer. I just apply 2-3 pumps with my fingers and then blot my face with a beauty blender knockoff sponge and my face is flawless for the rest of the day. I also wanted to add that I don't notice a smell, although some reviewers have. I have a pretty sensitive nose so I'm pleased with the lack of smell.
The only con is that the shades run a bit dark; I am usually the second-lightest shade in most products, but with this one I am the lightest shade, which is "ivory/fair." That said, this color matches me PERFECTLY and doesn't oxidize on me, which is amazing. The SPF is a huge plus, too - it's so rare to find any makeup with more than 15, so 50 is just fantastic. I got it at Big Lots for $4, so you can't beat the price either! I am going back soon to buy backups.
I uploaded a pic of me wearing this product after 8 hours of wear (I'm the brunette with the big smile wearing a gold headband). While I didn't think I looked shiny in person, the flash on my camera made me look a bit shiny in the first few takes so I applied some TheBalm Sexy Mama translucent powder with a big brush, which reduced shine. As you can see, there's minimal redness and the color matches my neck. Sorry the quality of the pic isn't great, but I only have a camera phone.
I know I have been talking this product up and not everyone has had as great of an experience with this as I have, but for $4 at Big Lots what have you got to lose by giving it a try? You may have found your new HG like I did :)
ok, if you have read my review on Missha perfect cover BB cream, you know I mix this with that for my perfect color match. That being said, THIS product is awesome. It has spf 50, it is cheap compared to HE tinted moisturizers, the coverage is great, and the finish is very natural. This would be my HG if the color range were better. I got the lightest color in "Ivory to Fair" and it is way too dark for me. It runs very warm. The packaging is a bright orange, so it's easy to find in your makeup bag/ drawer, and it is 1oz so it's not huge. It has a pump, so it's hygienic, which I like. I don't like that you can't tell how much you have left in the pump, but it appears that it has a vacuum style pump, so you get every bit of product.
I bought a bottle of this from Big Lots on Friday for 4$. I loved it so much I went the next day on Sat. and bought 3 back ups! Maybe a little bit overboard, but I know the retail price is close to $15. The only color they had was Fair to light and it works well for my coloring but is a tad bit too dark. I am sad to read that there is an ivory to light color that I think would work better for me, but they didn't have that at Big Lots. I think that this TM does pull a little dark so I would go with lighter than darker if you are on the fence about colors.
I was so shocked with how much coverage it gave! Wow! It also spread on really nicely (with my fingers) and had no streaking. It also left a relatively matte finish, which is rare for TM in my opinion.
Today I put on two coats to build up coverage and it looks almost like a foundation! I really am pleased with that look, considering that I don't have to blend and that it comes with moisturizer and high SPF all in one. Is nice with other products, like blush and highlighter.
The con for me is the strange smell. It is not a sunscreen smell, but there is some kind of chemicall-y smell I don't care for. It doesn't linger and it doesn't bother me that much, but it would be better if it wasn't there.
I wore it all day yesterday with no primer and it wore so well! There was minor slipage in the nose area, but I was seriously impressed, especially since it was super hot and I have oily skin and large nose pores that give off a ton of oil.
Today I used some primer and so so far, it is nice. I set with translucent powder with helps me with everything.
In all, I really would recommend this product! I think it is really well made and formulated and performs well. I would pay retail price for it.I also love the cute colors and slim packaging with pump!
EDIT 9/21: I had to end out returning my original bottle and all of my backups. What ended out happening was it began to oxidize and turn super orange, in addition to being a little bit too dark. I was shocked at how orange I looked the other day while I was out! I was so embarrassed. Right back to the store. I had to lower my overall rating from a 5 to 3. I think if you can find one to match your skin well it is maybe still pretty good but man, these run so dark and so orange. I will stick to my other TM and let this one go. I wanted to like it so much :(
I love this tinted moisturizer so much! I bought it at Big Lots for $4.00 (I think it's originally around $12-$15). I've been using this for quite some time now and my skin looks so beautiful. This is the best it has looked since my freshman year in high school (college freshman now). It's glowing, beautiful, and just gorgeous! After I wash my face at night, my skin is super soft. This will be perfect for me during the winter when my skin is extremely dry. I know it seems a little greasy (not as bad as I thought it would be), but anything with sunscreen in it will seem a little greasy. I just set it with mineral powder and I'm good to go! I would recommend this, but if you are incredibly pale, this might be a little darker for you. Overall, I am definitely satisfied with this product! :)
I am so happily surprised at how much I love this TM! I have tried so many TMs from Cover Girl to Amore Pacific & this one surprisingly wins hands down. I have combo skin, oily in the t-zone, around NC35 & have this in natural to tan, which at first I thought would not work, but once you spread it on, it matches my now tan summer skin. It definitely feels too thick when you first put it on, but just give it a few minutes to settle in & it melds & blends into my skin very nicely. For a tm I find it gives great coverage, only thing I use after is concealer for my under eyes & powder to set it. It gives me skin a really nice almost airbrushed look that lasts all day long & best of all is that it does not oxidize! I had terrible oxidation w/Laura Mercier's oil free tm & I didn't like that it only contained chemical sunscreens in it.
This TM offers a physical sunscreen (titanium dioxide) which I need because since I am olive toned, my skin eats up any chemical ss (weird,I know!) so I have to have physical ss, but physical ss usually have a terrible white cast & this does not so I'm super happy with it. I would highly recommend! It makes getting ready for me in the am so much quicker. Also this comes in a pump form, perfect for travel or doing your makeup/face on the run (which I regularly do, being a mom of 3 little ones!).
So some of the pros:
-awesome coverage
-UVA & UVB protection
-does not oxidize
-lasts all day
-great color selection for tanned skin
-can be built up a little
Cons:
-can feel a little thick at first
-lighter skinned gals might not find a shade
-you need to set w/powder
I just wanted to add that I have used several powders to set & it works with all I have tried which are: MUFE hd, Maybelline dream matte, Ben Nye banana powder, and Laura Mercier loose powder.
