These a great quality brushes. I never use the lip one, but the other four are fantastic. I seriously use them every day. :) I'm so glad I spent the extra money to get me a nicer set of brushes.

I would reccomend this for anyone without a great brush collection- it has all the basics you'll need to make your makeup look fantastic.

I know that good brushes are expensive, but I bought this set as an investment. The brushes are nice quality, soft and apply makeup really well (especially the eye shadow ones)

However, I only check off "won't buy again" because I don't like spending so much money. If I ever need to repurchase another set of brushes, I wouldn't hesitate to try selections from cheaper alternatives like Ecotools, E.L.F., Target's Sonia Kashuk brushes that seem to work just as well.

Good basic brush set that I use every day (except for the lip brush that I have yet to use because I'm a lip gloss/chapstick kind of girl). The foundation brush is really useful and can be used to even buff MMU if handled in a certain way. No, really! lol. Its hairs aren't as dense as a Kabuki's so it covers a lot more area. The eyeshadow brushes are great, too - they can both pack on the color and brush out harsh lines. Good set for beginners and for on the go.

i bought the sephora smokey eye kit. it has all the important eye makeup brushes. i really like it so far. the brushes are nice and soft. the only brush i dont like is the double sided comb/brush eyebrow brush. the brush side is too stiff and rough. i much prefer the smashbox one i have. it much softer. but overall the brushes are good.

These brushes are inexpensive but I wished that I invested in some good brushes. After two months they began shedding like crazy and I had to throw them away. I will not purchase these brushes again.

This is a super value for a basic brush set. The pouch is wonderful too. My only complaint is that I hate the face brush. I prefer either the kabuki brush style or a tapered, rounded head. I also find it ugly. The eyeshadow brushes are okay though I have my faves which I carry in the case.

My staple brush set! I use each and every one of these frequently!First of all, the leather case is very handy. THe powder brush is fluffy and oh-so-soft.. both large and small eye shadow brushes are awesome... retractable lip brush is one of the best ones I've tried, and the angled blush brush is GREAT! I use this mostly every day, with the addition of my MAC Concealer brush and Sonia Kashuk Angled Eye brush :)

The small eyeshadow brush is my fave brush ever! It is the perfect length, softness, everything to apply my e/s! I LOVE LOVE LOVE it! And I don't know why but my brushes don't shed...I clean them correctly and use them every day and they have lasted just fine. Besides, any brush will lose a hair or two occaisionally...no brush is perfect. Overall, a good value for the money.

for the price it's not bad. But the quality is not all that good. The brushes are not as soft as I expected. I like the eyeshadow brush, the powder brush, and concealer brush. The blush brush I HATE and lip brush I could do without. Better to invest money in brushes. And these SHED.

These brushes are okay but nothing to write home about. I agree it is worth it to spend a little more money and get the MAC kit when it goes on sale. These brushes are pretty good but they shed. I really like the blush brush though. I wish they had a stiff eyeshadow brush in the kit. I ended up switching to MAC.

The handles broke off almost every brush so I was forced to return them. They didn't work exceptionally well either. Would not repurchase. Going to splurge and get some MAC brushes

The brushes were so-so. I figure for the price and convenience of buying one item with so many brushes it was a good buy but I found that the brushes shed more than I expected. Nice packaging but kinda bulky to carry around. I would probably buy a different set (better quality even if more expensive) in the future.

I purchased this set upon reading all the great reviews on MUA. The smell off the pouch was unbelievably horrible. It took over a week to air out. The brushes were not as soft as I had envisioned them to be. Upon my first washing, the angled blush brush head separated from the handle. I exchanged it for the Sephora Portfolio Brush set. If you're wanting to purchase a decent starter set, I would choose this one versus the Professional 5. The quality was noticeably different - much softer and sturdy. The case is so much nicer and does not have a smell whatsoever. Overall, I do not recommend the Essential Brush set.

I bought these brushes because I didn't have any good quality brushes and thought this would be the best way to get a bunch for an ok price. At first I was really happy with my purchase. They helped me apply my makeup well. The smell of the pouch that many people have commented about didn't really bother me. Unfortunately they shed after only a couple of weeks of use.
I wish I had gotten a different brush set instead.

Overall, these are some of the best brushes I've used. I don't like spending a fortune on brushes, but found these to be very worth the $42. They are soft and the compact case is great for travel and storage. The case does smell, but leave it sitting in the sun for a few hours and it airs it out.

i love this brush set! the set has a large, dense powder brush, a blush brush, a large and small eyeshadow brush, and a lip brush. my favorite is the powder brush. it is soft, super dense, with a nice thick handle. great for home and small enough to carry in your purse. Update: These brushes are just average. I prefer my Chanel brushes and rarely use these anymore.

Wow, I hate to be the spoiler on this one, but my experience with these was terrible.

The problem was the vinyl brush roll that holds the brushes. Mine absolutely REEKED of chemical vinyl smell. No vinyl that I've encountered before has ever smelled that bad. It was like burning tires and nail polish remover--a very unhealthy odor. I tried to wash the brush roll, but it had no effect on the smell. The brushes also smelled like the brush roll. Even after I had them away from the brush roll for a week, they still smelled just as strong. Totally unusable.
