I have this in the pearl finish, as well as the flat white. I thought I would like the pearl finish better, but it turns out I like the flat white better. I feel like the flat white makes my shadows pop more than the pearl finish does. Just a personal preference.
With both of these, it's important to not apply too much product. If you do, it will crease. It is a little bit of a learning curve, but I figured it out pretty quick.
I wish this wasn't in a pot. I think a tube would be so much better. I use a flat brush to apply this.

This is a good eye primer. It does not crease on my eyelids and holds shadow beautifully.

I bought this as a primer for eyelids. It does the job. The price is cheap and like it under my eyeshadows. I don't think it amplifies the colors that I put on top of it, but it helps them to not crease. For an inexpensive base, this works great.

I usually love NYX products, but the eyeshadow base was a bust for me. I have oily eyelids. Not overly oily but I need some sort of primer there to hold my e/s all day. This did not do it for me.
-Application: I used both my fingers and my ELF concealer brush. Both worked in spreading the product around but I preferred the brush because it seemed to apply it better.
-Wear: I would apply this in the morning then apply eyeshadow. While this did really intensify the color (which I loved about this) by the time after work my eyeshadow was creased horribly.
-Test: I wanted to see if this was just the NYX base or my eyelids. I put the NYX base on one eye and Too Faced Shadow Insurance on the other eye. By the end of the day, the Too Faced held up while the NYX was creased and eyeshadow was barely noticeable on that eye.
-Overall: The best thing about this was how it really intensified the colors of your eyeshadow. However, I do not think that is worth it especially if the NYX base doesn't stay. I will not be repurchasing this particular base from NYX.

This stuff was so cheap at Ulta and it's a pretty good base. It makes colors brighter and last longer. Just smear it over your lid and wha-la!

The eye shadow base may make colors on top more vibrant but it certainly doesn't make the color last, in fact i found that the crease line was even more greasy and noticeable than without a primer. I wouldn't suggest it.

Would give this item a 5 if the packaging were sanitary. I am not a fan of having to dip my finger or brush in the pot to get product out over and over.
I have used Urban Debay Primer Potion, Tarte eyeshadow primer, Too Faced, Smashbox, etc. Between Urban Decay and this one its a toss up. They are both great and for the price of this one i can buy all three shades instead of one Urban Decay.
Goes on well, stays put, no creasing, colors of eyeshadow come true and keeps shadow in place ALL day in 100+ temperatures of the Arizona desert. Very impressed!
EDIT: I have to change my rating on this one and lower it because i got horrible oily eyelids and creasing with my Tarte eyeshadows...would not buy again. I do use it under my eyes and under concealer which keeps the concealer from creasing and helpt it stay put.

I just bought this shadow base a few days ago, and so far I am in love with this product! It really makes my eyeshadows stay longer, and the color looks more intense. It also helps my eyeshadow stay put throughout the day (even after jogging three miles). I haven't experienced any creasing as other users have mentioned... Maybe they're using too much? I dont use a ton of this product on my lids, so a little goes a long way! I also love how it's so inexpensive and the packaging looks nice. I will definitely be dropping by ulta again soon to buy the other bases(:

I hate this product but really wanted to love it. The other reviewers stress that this is NOT a shadow primer but a base. Knowing this, I applied a small amount over my eye primer and under shadow. This made all of my eye primers (UDPP 3 varieties,Too Faced Shadow Insurance) fail miserably. My eye primers have always worked in the past. Too bad, tons of creasing.

This is my least favorite out of the NYX eyeshadow base trio, however, saying that, it doesn't mean that it's bad. It does have some shimmer to it, so be careful of that, but it's not a ton. It's a combo between the white and the skin tone. It's not as creamy as well. It does make my eyeshadow last a lot longer, but remember that it's not a primer, but I think would be awesome with one, a great combo. A little goes a very long way, even though it's in a small jar which my fat finger can barely move in, LOL. Definitely worth a try and I WILL be repurchasing once I run out.

Just like many posts below, I want to reiterate that is is a base NOT a primer. This isn't meanto prevent creases and all that jazz. I think it's a pretty good base for the price. I can only seem to find pearl in the stores. I liked the texture and it was pretty long lasting. I have applied it with my fingers and a few different brushes.

Please note: THIS IS A BASE, NOT A PRIMER. The most important thing about this product is that it is NOT supposed to prevent your eyeshadow from creasing or fading. The purpose of this product is to help your eyeshadow adhere better and give it more pop. In that context, this product works VERY well. Shadows seem to stick to the lid much better and look smoother and prettier. I've also noticed that this base in particular gives an almost wet look to shimmery shadows (similar to the way that Dior shadows look when applied.) I am taking the rating down from five lippies to four because the package really does kinda stink, but overall the product is great and a tiny bit is all you need.

Love this base! I am always going back to it for almost all of my work. The pearlized base gives of a frosty/shimmery like look, once the shadow is applied too it all I see is a vibrant-silky color. I tried the creme shadow stick in MILK from NYX as a base and did not like it, made my lid look chalky and dull the eye shadow color. This base is very creamy & a little goes a long way in my honest opinion. I only need a dab on my ring finger and I start blending it out on my lid afterwards. To much will cause creasing, at least with me it did & that's with a primer under it as well.

this is the first primer i ever bought. i love shimmer and glitter and sparkle. even when i want a natural look, pcking on matte eyeshadow does cover the shimmer in the primer. i have never had any problems with this product and i have been using it for months. it make cheap eyeshadow brighter and gives it staying power. like i have always said.. if you have a good primer, you can use shadow from the dollar store! it retails for about 6 bucks at ulta, which isnt bad. i would like to ge tthe 2 other ones they have as well. i really love nyx products, and there are several sellers on ebay wher eyou can purchase it for about a 1/3 less and they have more of a variety.
love!

This primer definitely gives my matte eye shadows a shimmery, pearlized effect; it might scare you off from everyday use, but the look is subtle and actually pretty flattering. It also works well as a highlight and lightener to dark areas around the eyes. I always have short nails and I actually like to apply primer with my fingertips so I have no complaints on the packaging, and the price is definitely right. I'd repurchase this and would like to try a non-pearlized primer from NYX to see how it stacks up to this stuff.

Got this at a sale at ULTA. It's not a bad product all in all, but there was a lot of glitter in this. I was looking for a pearlized finish. Great base for a cheap brand. Cannot even compare to UDPP, but on it's own, for people with normal lids, I'm guessing it works just fine as a primer.

I purchased all of NYX bases and I like this one the best. It is long lasting, not too shimmery and lends a nice sheen to some eyeshadows that are a little too flat or chalky on their own. Sometimes I wear this alone with no shadow and don't you know it, that's the time I get the most compliments on my eyes! My only complaint is the small jar it comes in; hard to get your fingers in if you have any length to your nails and the texture of the base is too solid to get out with a brush. A flat, pan style container would be better for this product. Tip: I glued a little rhinestone to the lid of this jar so I can quickly identify it from the plain white base (they both look the same side by side until you open them).

I like the appearance of this packaging, but with longer finger nails and a narrow opening I find it difficult to use this with my fingertips. I like this as a base, not as a primer, but it really does nothing to make my eye shadows "pop." I think it works great under shimmer/glittery e/s, but for me it did not make matte e/s shimmer. It definitely has a cool undertone, is not opaque white, which is what I was expecting, and it does make white e/s stand out. If you're looking for an opaque white pearly base, I'd skip this.

I really really love this Eyeshadow Base. It prevents my shadows from creasing all day/night...literally until I wash my face. The shimmer creates a beautiful effect when layering matte eyeshadows over it. It's also sticky enough to adhere glitter pigments. You would think that the glass jar would cause it to dry out quickly but that is not the case. A little goes a LONG WAY. I've had mine for over a year and it's still moist and I have plenty of product to last me another year and some change. I also have NYX's Eyeshadow Base in White (love it for bright colorful looks) and I'm looking to get the SkinTone Eyeshadow Base sometime soon. Great Great Products, definitely a staple for any eyeshadow lover.

I loooove this eye shadow base! This is my first day using it and I am VERY pleased. I had been only using L'Oreal DeCrease, and so now I still put that on first and then the NYX Pearl base over the DeCrease and my eyeshadow hasn't budged or creased since 9:30am.... and it is now 2:16pm. I live for shimmer shadows so this base is perfect for me, and may even help to put a lil sparkle in my matte shades. Am thinking of purchasing the white base as well. Awesome for an impulse buy! :)
