This Starry Purple shade was the reason that I moved into Bobbi Brown's cream shadow range from the powders. I was sooo in love when I saw this irresistible sparkly dark purple in the pot!!
I can't remember how many jars I went through until this colour was discontinued. I wear a dark smokey eye everyday anyway, so the Starry Purple provided a glittery finish on the inner rim and lash line areas.
The formula is very smooth to apply (with a synthetic flat round eyeshadow brush) and, unlike the gel liners, there's a bit more time to blend out before the product sets. BUT, perhaps it's because I layer the product on the heavy-side and because of the glitter, there is a lot of fallout throughout the day and I have to constantly check my face. Despite this flaw, it never stopped me buying the product as the colour was too fantastic.
As I mentioned, this colour has been discontinued and, when I emailed the Bobbi Brown team to enquire, received a reply from their customer service centre offering me free delivery (in the US - I live in Dubai and shop in the UK) if I order something from their US site. I bought the Bobbi Brown Gel Liner in Twilight Night as a substitute and also the NARS Eye Paint in Tartar when it recently came out.

I really really wanted to love this one, and bought after the BB assistant had done my friend's eyemake up with the Galaxy shade of the same product. I wear darker make-up than her so thought I'd experiment with the deeper shades. Went a bit mad and also bought the Starry night.
I've tried applying with brush and with fingers and I just can't get the colour on my lids to look anything like what's in the jar. It's really frustrating...I'm applying it to clean lids as she suggested (explaining that it would clump if there were any other products on my lid) but the colour pay off just isn't great.
Won't rebuy in the dark colours but might try in something like the Galaxy or the Goldstone.

Although I love these eye shadows this isn't my favourite. It's a bit on the sparkly side and more difficult to apply than the others I have. Having said that, if you spend time on the application, I find it can look quite stunning. I have green eyes and the colour is just right. Easy to apply too heavily (ok if you want an evening look) and it's devilish difficult to get off if you make a mistake. But if you're careful and apply it really sparingly it can give just a hint of mauve and look quite attractive even for daytime.

Pretty, pretty, pretty. Unlike most of the long wear metallics, this one has some depth. I don't find it two sparkly at all, but then I always use these sparingly. I like it a lot.

You need the right brush for this to come out correctly, as for any gel liner but especially this one because of the sparkle. I would recommend a small SOFT round or angled (ecotools brushes are nice soft and cheap) for this, i have great success with that. when applying with a stiffer flat brush it honestly looks terrible and clumpy... play with it! Its a nice color, but nothing that really spectacular looks better in the pot... very easy to apply but i prefer Bobbis non-metallics. Expensive but you will never run out of it and its a nice cute pot easy to take with you and touch up. Lasts a very long time about 6 hours on my oily lids at work sweating and running around.

It looked really pretty at the store, but once you take it home to try it out -sucks big-time! I was so disappointed because the packaging is nice, the color was nice and it was friggin expensive. The product it just hard to apply on the lids - even with a brush. Just clumpy, glittery and is hard to blend because it sets fast (being "long-wear") and all. The color is not that pretty on the lids either.
