I have dehydrated/dry skin. This product is a nice basic moisturizer for dry skin, but not for dehydration. The list if ingredients is short and natural and it will most likely not cause problems for sensitive skin. It is an oily products so better suited for nighttime use. I would Probably enjoyed this product more in my 20s, But being in my mid 30s I need something more antiaging properties That addresses the dehydration issues I'm having with my skin. I will keep on using this product during summer time Or if I go on vacation somewhere tropical, It really soothes the skin after sunbathing. That being said, I would strongly suggest this to women in their 20s would dry skin that just need a basic moisturizer.

Thank you Decleor. I was about to cry as my Rosacea acne developped out of nowhere and over the course of 7 weeks caused the worst acne-like, dry pathed, red areay aroudn my nose and slightly on my cheeks. I have started using this product about two weeks ago, first interchangably with a night moisturizer, but now switched to this every night since every day I wake up with slighty less red, calmer and happier skin. The bumps have reduced in size, the patches are decreasing, and the redness is going away. I can get away with wearing Teint Miracle by Lancome and not feel self conscious, whereas, 9 days ago I felt like I had to layer the most covering of foundations I owned...
I am prone to break outs so I was worried that this waxy texture would be the death of me, but nope, nada, not a single new pimple anywhere on the face. My skin had a healthy glow (not shine), irritations looked appeased and some breakouts I had from a previous cream experiment also looked smaller.
When I put it on, my skin has the same shine after 10 minutes as before putting it on, which I did not expect (I expected to look like a disco ball).
Because of this, I will next buy the rose d'orient serum so that I can wear it during the day and I will look into other products by this brand. Having spent a lot of money trying to save my skin, I feel I have found a brand I can depend on and I don't have to look to the EL's, Lancomes, Chanel's, etc.
I am still on a hunt for a good winter, anti wrinkle moisturizer, so if anyone has any tips, let me know. Thoguh maybe if I try something else from Decleor, I'll answer myself :D
Please note that if you are paying the full price, than yes, these creams are very expensive (especially since the jars are tiny, but a) a little goes a long way and b) there's plenty of websites, especially in the UK, which offer large discounts and make every penny worth it).

I'm on my fourth jar of this balm, which I bought based on the rave reviews here - I'm certainly not disappointed. I can't say if it does anything for wrinkles ( though I'm sceptical about products claiming to eliminate lines, preferring to focus on moisture), but it does calm my skin and at night it's a ritual when I rub some of the balm and pat it on my skin, inhaling the rose essential oils - bliss. My skin, which is oily to combination loved it and its usually quite sensitive to breaking out. Would certainly buy again.

Let me begin by saying that I’ve never believed in miracle skincare products – even more so after being disappointed by many expensive purchases...
Baume Rose d’Orient does not claim to be a youth elixir, and indeed I haven’t dropped 10 years since I’ve started using it – yet this product has performed subtle miracles on my skin and has greatly improved my evening skincare routine.
My skin used to exhibit red patches (especially in the cheek and nose area, and even more so in winter). Since a couple of years my skin had become uneven: my forehead in particular was not a smooth surface, but was quite “bumby”: you could feel it by running a finger aver it. Most important, you could see it. I understand this could be a reaction to aggressive treatments (exfoliating tonics, hard water), but even though changing my make-up removal routine slightly improved the situation, it didn’t solve the problem.
Enter Baume Rose d’Orient. The redness has almost disappeared, but even more striking is the extremely smooth texture of my skin – my pores have shrunken considerably and my skin looks really healthy: beautiful (if I may say so myself) and incredibly even. I have been using this baume for 2 months now and am exceedingly happy with the results - the bumps disappeared within the first few days of use, and never came back. The baume doesn’t seem to have an effect on my “main” wrinkles, but (like all good moisturizers) it has removed the fine lines due to dehydration.
Like all decleor baumes it doesn’t really smell as the namesake flower (which doesn’t top the ingredient list), and it has the grainy fondant texture of an oil that solidifies as it sits in the refrigerator – this baume is NOT a cream, NOR a gel. It goes on thick and it does NOT feel light.
But it is the perfect texture to follow one of those anti-aging/relaxing massage routines – and I encourage you to take advantage of it, as it also helps absorb the product faster. A traditional cream does not work for a massage – it doesn’t provide enough slip for a pleasant and effective experience.
I do these massages every evening (I’ve downloaded the Suqqu instructions, and when in lack of time I do an abbreviated version) and while the beautifying effects do not seem to last more than a few minutes (just after the massage my wrinkles seem less deep and the shape of my face more defined), I hope that they may give some long term benefits. Even if they do not, it’s a very pleasant way to end your day and go to bed relaxed and pampered, with unfurrowed brows and an uncrisped expression!
It feels good to spoil oneself a bit, and without throwing money out of the window!
I don’t enjoy the smell of this baume (in that respect, I prefer the Neroli one), but I found it the most effective skin-care product I’ve ever tried.
Maybe it just happened to be tailored for my issues, I don’t know, but while I still don’t believe in skin-care products claiming to toss the years off your face, I think I might believe in small skin-care miracles now…

I cant begin to tell you how dreamy this balm is. It sure feels and looks greasy after you've applied it, but it absorbs quickly into the skin. I apply it once a week before bedtime, and I immediately notice the radiance effect. In the morning I say hello to a smooth bright skin. Its helped me recover from allergic reactions to harsh Kanebo Sensai products. It also soothes random rashes from skin allergies. The weekly usage means the 15ml could last me a year, so no plans of repurchasing anytime soon.

I've come to the conclusion that my skin hates the Decleor range of sensitive skincare. I thought Paula Begoun was talking clap-trap when she warned that natural isn't always better. I tried the oil, the day cream and this balm separately to gauge my skin's reaction to each of them and it was all a disaster. Like the day cream, this made my skin rough and red. I tried this balm in teeny tiny amounts and my skin stayed inflamed. The essential oils in this product obviously does not agree with me, as I've heard that my symptoms are a typical reaction to a mix of essential oils it obviously hates. I'm glad this balm works for most of the reviewers though. Guess it's just awful luck on my part! Like the oil and day cream, I'm going to give it to my mom.

I will start off this review by saying that i was not a fan of Decleor or Darphin skincare prior to trying this! Its not that i thought they were bad but since they are not readily available to me I passed on purchasing, fearing that i will end up with yet another item i have to hunt down (Chantecaille i am looking at you!). My plan was foiled by an innocent Christmas gift from a dear friend who obsesses over skincare almost as much as i do :) Upon opening the jar, the first thing i noticed was the lovely scent that immidietly stood out as very natural (nothing artificial here) and uber relaxing! My excitement was broken as soon as i touched the cream surface - it felt kind of greasy and almost grainy on my fingers. Texture is very important to me when it comes to skincare - i dont like anything heavy, greasy, filmy and "silikony". In fact if the texture is not to my liking, chances are that no matter how good a product is I will eventually stop using it once the novelty wears off. The disappointment over the night balm was evident but thankfully short-lived :) Once i allowed it to melt in my hand, I patted it on all over my face and gently rubbed it in (all the while enjoying the scent). It absorbed fairly quickly and after 10 minutes it was undetectable on my face even though my skin felt so moisturized and plumped. Even though my skin is mostly combination I have some dry patches on my cheeks and lip area - this balm takes care of that every single time and even better most nights i am able to skip the additional night cream! In the morning i wake up with fresh, glowy and CALM skin - no blotches, grease or puffiness!
The full size jar is huge and will last a very long time (at least a year!) since all you need is a tiny bit to cover your fingers. The sample tubes are also very convenient to those of us who dont like the possibility of contamination but a spatula can solve that problem easily. Decleor does recommend the oil and balm to be layered each night but i almost feel that would be too much...however i already ordered a bottle so the jury is still out :)

I have made my acquaintance with decleor in a facial. Back then, I didn't have the money to buy any of the products and I only used high street brands. But the woman who made the facial gave me a few small trial tubes of decleor products and I have to say, since that day I am hooked. No other brand has EVER done to my skin what decleor does. First and foremost the rose night balm. Now that my financial situation is somewhat relaxed, I use the night balm after having cleansed my face with the decleor cleansing milk and the toner. I put it on my face when the skin is still slightly wet from the decleor toner, and this is just the perfect combination. It glides on my skin. In the morning, my skin is plump, feels soft and just glows. I had people asking me what I did to my skin now that it looked so well. I really couldn't believe it!!
Just be careful not to take too much of the rose balm, a pea size is just enough. When your face feels oily and sticky, you have used too much of it. That's why I think the price is reasonable, a little really goes a long way. I actually order the salon size on ebay, and these 100 ml will really last forever.
So, as a conclusion: I adore decleor, but the best best best product ever is the rose night balm. I will be using this for the rest of my life.

After years of struggling with what I deemed to be acne, I finally came to the realization that I had rosacea. My skin is extremely dry, sensitive and prone to breaking out in rosacea pustules whenever the wind blows. I've really struggled to find products that combat new eruptions and soothe the skin. Through trial and error, I'm closer to a good regimen. I added this balm in approximately 3 weeks ago and it has made the world of a difference. It stops new spots in their tracks and I'm pleased to report that I really haven't had any new issues. This is surprising, considering the hundreds of dollars I've spent on drugstore and high end products that had the science to back up their claims but ruined my face. I also think that it improves the efficacy of other products. I recommend trying this (preferably from a store that has a good return policy, I've been burned before) if you suffer from rosacea or extremely dry skin.

I love this balm. I use it as my regular moisturizer, applied at night. During the warmer months, one application is enough; in the winter, I usually apply it once in the morning and once at night. It also works exceptionally well if used as a primer before makeup--allow it to sink in for about 30 minutes before. The redness-minimizing, soothing qualities will be at their peak, and your skin will be such a smooth, lovely canvas.
I have somewhat sensitive skin that is also very dry. It can tolerate glycolic acid in many products, but then the most harmless herbs will cause an itchy rash of bumps. Because my skin is so reactive and so unpredictable, I never know what to expect when I try a product.
I read that this worked well for dry, sensitive skin that is prone to redness. That describes my skin exactly, and the balm has worked perfectly. I continually try new moisturizers, only because of a fascination with beauty products, and yet no matter what I try, I always return to this balm. When I see the dramatic difference it makes on my skin, I wonder why I was so curious about other moisturizers. I recently went back to the balm after using other creams for a month, and I had a few cystic blemishes due to a reaction to a new hair conditioner. Immediately after beginning the balm, the cystic spots (which were still beneath the skin) began to fade. My skin is soft, milky and clear as long as I use this balm. I suggest giving it a try if you have problematic skin.

I started using this when I read reviews on MUA that this balm has soothing agents for irritable skin.
I did find initially that the balm was effective for soothing my eczema but after prolonged use, I found I was getting milia as well as little itchy bumps on my jawline. The day I stopped using it, my bumps disappeared.
Overall, there is nothing really to dislike about this balm - it moisturises and makes your skin glow and look dewy. However, maybe my sensitive skin is to blame.

I ended up with this balm purely by chance, it wasn't what I was intending to buy at all but I'm so thrilled with my purchase.
This product is so very lovely, I never really classed decleor as my kind of brand and I only happened to go to their counter because I'd been everywhere else. I listened to the lady tell me all about how it was good because it was natural and all the while I could hear Paula Begoun in my subconscious saying "no no it's full of irritants" - I decided to buy because I liked the look of the product and the smell and I am so glad I did.
The SA was very informative, she explained what the different types of balms did, she recommended this one for me because I said my skin was sensitive. I've been using this balm a week now, I've noticed that it's killed some blemishes which is a very surprising effect, I did read Begouns review of this product after I bought it and I was right about what her view of this line was - but y'know what, I sort of figure that they must be doing SOMETHING right to have pleased finnicky me and a lot of other picky MUAers - we ladies expect the best!! This balm is different from anything else I've seen on the market except for Darphin doing some of the same sort of thing - the smell of this product is SO relaxing, it really does make me take time over myself when I'm massaging it into my face at night, so much nicer than clinical type products that become a chore to use or that you just don't appreciate. I purchased the decleor cream cleanser on ebay soon after and I really love that as well. This line could just be a winner for me, I have glowy skin because of this balm, I really love it. I would recommend!

This product is fantastic. I am prone to painful under the skin acne cysts on my chin which are sore, red, and embarrassing. I bought this after reading reviews and was quite cynical but it really really helps! If caught early enough, using this means the cysts don't grow and erupt but reduce and fade quickly. It helps with any other smaller spots too - just makes the recovery time so fast! You only need a tiny wee bit and so although expensive it lasts. I will continue to use this as I haven't found anything else that helps my skin recover from cysts so quickly.

Doesn't clog my pores at all - surprising given the rich texture. Smells fantastic (not flowery, just clean and botanical). In winter I use it every night, and in summer every few nights (only because I like trying other night treatments in summer sometimes). I really, really like how I wake up with just.good.skin. after using this. My skin feels moisturized and simply well-cared for. I also like using it after any kind of exfoliating or harsh treatment - I feel like it's my skin's comfort blanket! Kind of makes everything happy again... if that makes sense.

Interesting product to try on combination, sensitive skin. I'm always drawn to 100% natural products, but rarely bold enough to buy these with those different oils and waxes. Bought in mini size to fulfill my curiosity. First impression wasn't good, because of the smell and heavy texture. Result in the morning were much happier, my skin was glowing and plump. Not at all shining or oily. Now I'm using this occasionally as treatment.
Also this stuff works great as spot treatment on painful cysts under skin, applied this at night and the cysts were much less prominent on morning.
Recommended.

My HG night moisturizer. I have extremely dry, sensitive skin. So it is difficult for me to find a product that will be hydrating but not lead to break outs. This works beautifully. I have also tried Eucerin Q10 night creme, which works well but from time to time my skin would still get blotchy. In addition, I have used Tone perfecting creme by Laura Mercier which did even my skin tone, but was not hydrating enough for my skin.
**UPDATE** Removed 1 lippie because it's just not hydrating enough for the windy, chilly winter. I have now also tried Vichy Aqualia Thermal Rehydrating and Repairing care and it worked well in "fixing" my flaky dry skin for about a week, but now I have to use it less since Vichy caused some irritation. I may try Decleor's Angelique line next and see if it helps.
**05Apr11 Update** Removed 1 more lippie. I stopped using this for 1 month and went back to my drugstore Eucerin Q10 for Sensitive skin. My pores have minimized greatly and my skin looks much more hydrated. Also, my dry spots have gone away. This balm smells great and feels very luxurious, but I think it increased the size of my pores.

Very nice, greasy balm, which is absorbed by the skin very fast after massaging it in. I use it every evening after cleansing my skin with the Ultra Calming Cleanser from Dermalogica, finished with some Cleansing Water from Decleor on a cotton pad. In the morning I use only the Cleansing Water to clean my face and afterwards the new Harmonie Milky creme from Decleor which is also very nice. I don't use the serum Rose d'Orient underneath as advised because I noticed that at this point it is to much for my skin. I am using the products only two weeks now and my skin is looking better than ever before. When my skin is used to the aromatic products I will try the serum under the day cream. This night balm is very relaxing before getting to bed!

Last winter, my skin was very reactive. The weather in Hong Kong fluctuated a lot. It was sunny and warm one day and cold, windy and wet another day. My cheeks were dry but I had quite serious breakout. I went to have facial in the salon where I have my regular medicure and pedicure. The consultant recommended me to have Decleor facial. I didn't expect much at first because I was a huge Sisley fan and always had an impression that Decleor is a lower tier line.
Anyway, I had the facial done and my skin was immediately relieved and looked more rested. The consultant convinced me that I should buy some products which could calm and nourish my skin, otherwise, my skin would become reactive very soon as I wasn't using the right products. So, I bought Cleansing Cream, Toning Water, Nourishing Cream (am & pm), Rose Serum and this balm.
The balm looks very waxy in the jar. I take a bean size and warm up using my palm. The smell is divine and helps me to relax. My skin is now under control and I am still using it. I think this product is as good as Sisley Restorative Cream. I will definitely repurchase and repurchase!

This stuff is absolutely heaven for my dry, sensitive skin. It's quite expensive, but a little goes a very long way and it's definitely worth it. My only complaint is the packaging, I'd prefer a tube instead of a jar. Even so, this is without a doubt HG for me and I will repurchase.
