A coworker sells Avon and I needed some bugspray with SPF abnyway so for $7.99 (usually it's $9.99, I think) I got the 4 oz. aerosol can of this.
Unscented - so it smells neutral (like propellant??) to me and so far it seems to be working.
I will update my review once we go to the beach.

This stuff was pretty good. I now live in Florida where bugs and sun are a daily concern. I would put this on in the morning and then would go to theme park for a few hours and I wouldn't get burnt or bit. I even wore this for an hour on the beach this week and the half of me that was covered by this (I ran out halfway through application) didn't get burnt. My complaints are it's a bit on the sticky side, and it does not layer well under makeup. But other than that it's a fairly decent sunblock and bug protector.

I live in Australia and we have warm weather pretty constantly, with a little bit of winter, (no snow, only in the mountains) in Melbourne. Our summers are pretty severe.
I and a lot of others really LOVE this product! We believe it does work.
When "Charlottes Web" remake was made in Victoria, Australia, the cast actually used this product.
This is really good for little people (children).
Perfume is absolutely great and you do not feel greasy after application.
As a sunscreen you need to apply a couple of hours apart so as not to let the sun get to unprotected skin, like any other sunscreen.
Cost wise, really good when on special, stock up.
Only 2 things Avon could do to make it better.
Larger bottle and a tiny bit thicker lotion. It is convenient enough size to put into your handbag to take anywhere and fragrance could actually be a perfume.
As I said absolutely LOVE IT.
Hope you all have a good summer as we are going into winter.

I purchased this for the first time a few years ago, when my then-baby's sensitive skin couldn't handle any other sunscreen (besides Clarins, which is sadly too expensive for us). I liked the fact that, in addition to a good SPF factor, this contained protection from bugs as well.
I've been using it on my kids (now ages 3 and 6) with absolutely no complaints. Initially, I bought the "Cool Blue" style, but honestly, it makes a terrible mess and smells sickly sweet. The regular style (white bottle with orange cap) is fine. It's very easy to put on a good layer of it. You do have to be careful (as with any other product) to avoid getting it into eyes (last summer my then-two-year-old kept rubbing it into them by accident and he'd be miserable). However, I can honestly say my kids have (a) never had a negative skin reaction to it, and (b) have never gotten sunburnt or bug-bitten while wearing it.
I do advise (as with any other sun product) reapplication after swimming and/or a long period of time in the sun. But this product holds up really well to my active boys, and the price is really reasonable. The tube looks small but lasts quite some time. I tend to purchase four tubes in May and they usually last me for most of the summer (I keep one or two at home, one in the diaper bag, etc.).

I'm highly allergic to DET (the main ingredient in almost all bug repellents) and this works wonderfully. It is runny but for not having any bug bites, it's a compromise.

LOVE THIS STUFF!!!! It comes in a pump or a spray can. You can get it super cheap on sale. I use the can with the kids at school and it is not greasy at all. Perfect and easy. The pump I use on my own varmints at home at at the pool. It is oily like the SSS oil, but it stays on very well and has a pleasent scent. This is the best stuff ever. If the pump is too greasy try the can.......

I'm sure as far as SPF goes this will protect your skin, but I could not get past the greasy, sticky feel. I couldn't bear to use it more than twice, and gave it away to a friend.

I LOVE this stuff! It is Deet free, so I can put it on my baby, and I can hold my baby while wearing it without the worry of poisoning him. It keeps the bugs off. The pump does have a greasy feel, but it's not so bad to me, but the aerosol is GREAT! It doesn't leave that greasy feel at all & works just as good!

I thought this product was too greasy. It was like putting stright petroleum jelly on my arms and legs. I liked the smell and I did'nt get any bug problems thoe. If I can get immune to the greasy feeling it would be a good product bug repellant wise.

I use this stuff all summer long and it's great. Unfortunately, I live where the United States' highest population of mosquitos, black flies, horse flies, deer flies, and house flies also reside. (No, I'm not kidding! We have special reports on the news concerning the 'insect level' every day during the summer months!) Although I still get some bites, I get far less than when I use other repellents, including those with DEET. The sunscreen in it is nice too, so you don't have to take forever putting on layer upon layer of protectants.
P.S. Whoever said that this product does not actually contain sun protection is wrong--I am an Avon representative and assure you that this product is approved for sun protection.

I like this product for bug repellant. It works good. Price is ok if you get it on sale. This is such a safer alternative than DEET based products. I'd use additional sun protection with this product. I've bought this again and again. Had a friend who went to Canada, out on the lake and couldn't believe how well it protected him and his family from bugs.

DO NOT BUY THIS! IT DOESN'T CONTAIN UVA PROTECTION! Unless you want to get skin cancer, wrinkles and discolorations, ofcourse...
I don't recommend this at all -completely useless!

I never understood why Avon sold a bug guard/sun protection combo until I went South on vacation! In Ohio, it's not a problem that we contend with at the same time!
This may be fine for bug guard, but for sun protection, it does not work! The day I used this, I burned my skin so bad it blistered and peeled! And this was supposed to be SPF 30. I used Coppertone 15 all the other days with no problems at all!!! Girls, don't count on this for sun protection!! It is bad. Also, the container leaked blue sticky gel/lotion all over my bag and dissolved part of the vinyl lining. Very bad experience. I usually like Avon, but now I'm hoping this isn't representative of all their products!
I threw it away!

DEET is dangerous! I can't believe that they used to give us Off at summer camp, and we used to spray it on ourselves like crazy! I've read studies in which neural damage has resulted from DEET use. It is especially damgerous in children, and is belived to have caused death in some cases. Why use a product that warns you that you must wash it off after use?!? Avon SSS was one of first widely marketed DEET free bug repellents in the US. It's great, and I absolutely love it! I'm a woodsy girl during the summer, and absolutely worship this stuff.

I *love* this sunscreen. I like the smell, and the blue kind for kids is really fun.
At first I was concerned, because I read that it didn't contain deet, but then I found out how dangerous deet is, especially to allergy and asthma prone people, which my DH and I are. I also saw a comparison (on CNN maybe?) between sunscreens that contained deet and ones that didn't, and deet didn't prevent anything more than a non-deet product. When other companies say that ONLY deet will protect you from West Nile, they're lying...trust me, I'm from Louisiana!

I DO NOT recommend this product for sun protection! It does not contain any of the active ingredients Avobenzone (aka Parsol 1789), zinc oxide, or titanium dioxide. Without one or more of these active ingredients, you're only getting 20% protection from UVA rays at the very most. 20% isn't enough to protect you from sun damage such as wrinkles, discoloration, and worst of all, skin cancer. You're actually putting yourself at higher risk using a sunscreen like this because you allow yourself to be exposed to UVA rays longer, since you're not burning. PLEASE be sure you apply a broad spectrum sunscreen with the active ingredients I mentioned as well as a bug repellent. Avon's other sunscreens are broad spectrum, as long as you get one with at least an SPF 15.

I love this product. Works really well blocking the sun and bugs. It also leaves behind a sheen that looks like you just put baby oil on so it looks really sexy on your skin. This is my summer staple!

This is a great product. It is really hard to find a lotion that gives sun protection and insect repellent at the same time. When you have hyper kids dying to go outside, who has time to layer different lotions on them?? Only thing is the smell is a bit strong. Otherwise, works great!

I like the scent of the cool 'n fabulous version okay. The only thing I noticed was that when I layered it over my Moisture Intensive Therapy Lotion, after everything soaked in and dried and all that, there was a residue left over that flaked off. It does keep bugs away, and is an effective sunscreen, but if you're mostly after the bug effect, I'd use the bath oil instead.
