I was looking for a dark blue polish for a very long time and when I came across Essie's Midnight Cami, I immediately had to purchase it to give it a try! It is a nice colour, but as others have mentioned, it chips fairly easily (that being said I didn't use a topcoat, but compared to OPI polish in which I also don't use a topcoat, Essie's lasting power was much shorter)- but the most significant disappoint of mine in this product is that it has certainly stained my nails blue! I often like to remove one polish and give my nails a break from polish for a few days to breathe, but after removing this one, I had to immediately apply another polish to mask the sickly blue tint of my nails!
As another reviewer mentioned - a base coat maybe would solve this issue, but I for one, am rather low maintenance and don't often bother with either base or top coats.

This polish is such a pretty color. In poor lighting, it can look almost black, but in sunlight, it's such a pretty shimmery deep, dark blue. One thing I like about it is it has a fairly thin formula that goes on very smoothly. Another thing is that it's intense enough that one does not need to use much more than 1-2 coats. In contrast, many deeper polishes tend to look a bit anemic if one does not use a second coat. In addition, with my usual base/top coats, this color lasted on my nails nearly two weeks without chipping despite the fact that I only used one coat rather than my usual two. Everyone's nails are different so how long it lasts varies, but for me, this works really well.

After eyeing this colour for quite some time, I decided to finally go out and purchase it a little while ago. I love the way the colour looks! Although this colour is gorgeous, the lasting power was very bad. I use Essie Good To Go topcoat which works really well and it started chipping after two days. If you really like this colour, and want to wear it, I would suggest applying a layer of black (Essie Licorice is great!) which will extend the life of the nail polish.

I love this color! 1 coat is opaque enough to cover your nails. 2 coats makes it a really dark blue which can appear black in dark lighting.
This color is super chic and overall I would purchase again.
For some reason, this polish seemed thicker in consistency when compared to my other Essie nail polishes.

Normally I love Essie's polishes but I absolutely hate this one & I'm already dreading having to remove it even though I just applied it. It was very hard to work with for some reason, I just used it with my pedi & it was thick & sloppy. The brush size was fine but I've never had to clean up a nail color as much as I had to with this one. It went on thick & streaky & stained my skin & nails when I removed & reapplied. It's almost midnight so I wasn't in the mood to take it all off so I just finished the job & filing this in my "give away" bin because I don't want to use it ever again. I even added some polish thinner & that didn't help much.

This is a really dark opaque navy blue; you can probably use just one coat, but I always use two. I really like it, but the color is definitely darker than it looks in the bottle and while I see the shimmer when I look at the bottle, I don't notice it very much when applied to the nail. I really like it though and it has good staying power.

Totally agree with previous reviewer, you cannot go wrong with Essie. More lasting power, just a better quality polish. Better than OPI, IMO. I used this last night (two coats) and an ombre silver glitter on top, heavier at the cuticle and fanning out thinner toward the tip. It looks fantastic! Like a night sky filled with stars, wow!!

Can I say that I love this color!!!!!!!!
As I was searching through nail polish isle in my local drugstore, I was trying to find the perfect deep, dark navy and low and behold I stop and find Midnight Cami. While yes I agree with the other poster that is very dark and not very shimmery (the essie page says shimmer but it can only be seen in a lot of sunlight), but this was exactly what I was looking for.
This polish is very opaque and when I am lazy, I can easily get by with only one coat and go about my day.

Just fine color...a dark blue...my major complaint is that the color stained my nails. Truth be told I never wear a base coat but I paint my nails about 3x a week with different colors and no base and have NEVER had this problem before. The last time I wore it I had to paint my nails a dark red to cover up the blue hue that was left. So I will not be getting this one-nor wearing this one again.

I wanted this color to match my dress for a Party so I got this. It is a really rich pigmented navy. IT'S ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS.

After reading all of the reviews on here and elsewhere that were praising this color, I decided to finally go out and purchase it.
I was not very pleased with the results. The color is very dark, so dark that I can't tell it is blue unless in direct sunlight. When it IS in direct sunlight, it's beautiful! But I am disappointed that you can't see that in other lighting. Another problem I had was the wear power of it. I had it on for not even 24 hours, and I had chips. I hadn't even done anything that day, and it was flaking off! I use Orly Bonder Rubberized Base Coat and Essie Good to Go top coat, which keeps my other polishes on for 7 days+. I have plenty of Essie polishes and I am usually not disappointed, but this is one I won't be buying again.

I love this color !!! looks so dark and mysterious and sophisticated and chic I really like it ! its quite dark almost black but you can certainly see and say that its a dark navy blue color . Application wise this nail polish goes on super smooth and has a metallic finish actually its so shiny that even without a top coat looks like a mirror ! My only problem is that chips way too easily this is the only reason I took one lippie off . I dont usually have problems to maintain my manicures but with this nail polish is almost impossible to keep my tips chipped free even after one only day other than that i love it

Such a gorgeous colour! it is exactly the colour I was hoping it would be. The texture, finish and application are a dream...one coat gives you a super opaque navy blue. Like others have previously said, it is dark, but not so dark that it looks black. You can definately tell it is a navy blue. Perfect, perfect, perfect! my HG blue nail polish

One of my favorite dark polishes. I love wearing this in the fall/winter. It's so dark but not totally black which would be boring. It's very sophisticated, I love it.

I love all Essie polishes, and this one is no different. The formula is specactular and lasts for at least a week on me with no chips.
The color is a very dark, shimmery navy. It's very opaque and you can definitely get by with only one coat. The shimmer doesn't really show up unless you are in sunlight. Indoors it just looks like a shiny navy.
I would REALLY love this polish if the shimmer were more noticeable indoors, but it's still a great navy.

I wanted a dark shimmery blue and this was exactly what I was looking for. It's very opaque; you could use one coat with this although two really makes the color stand out. Applies easily and doesn't take forever to dry and is not goopy. Very pretty color but make sure to put a base coat underneath so your nails don't get stained :)

Exactly what I was looking for...a dark, beautiful, vampy blue. Slight shimmer in the light/outside-dark creme looking inside. Not one of those vampies that looks black in low light. True Navy Blue. Applies like most Essies...like buttah!

This is a goregous deep navy with blue shimmer. It's not yet blackened navy. I have a cream blackened navy that shows up like black unless I compared it to something really black in colour to tell the difference, while I don't hv to do so for this and even the untrained eyes like the bf's can tell.
Probably because the shimmers are similar colour to the base colour but lighter in shade, it is very subtle and actually doesn't show up well most the the time, so it looks like a cream formula especially after topping with a top coat. However, when under certain lighting like errr under bright light, the blue shimmers can finally be seen and I feel like looking into a lot of tiny sparling jewels under the sea, lol. I guess this is the only thing I like abt Midnight Cami and to justify to keep it and possibly repurchase. This is also why not a perfect 5 from me...
Good quality and applies smoothly though for the brush, I prefer OPI's ProWide brush more. Pigmentation is very good as 1 layer is good to go wihout much obvious streak though I prefer 2 thin layer of colours for something more "solid". Also, when using this colour, remeber to use a proper base coat or you will end up with bluish nails after removing this polish.

I really wanted a vampy blue, but did not want to cash out for Chanel Blue Satin, so I tried this. And Im very happy I did, because it is stunning. A slight shimmer and the most beautiful blue color.
Would I buy this product again: If/when I run out, yes. It is not a color I wear every day, so I wont run out anytime soon.

I prefer to wear dark colours on my nails and this has quickly become one of my favourites. It looks so nice in the bottle and is equally as pretty on the nails. Its a deep blue with subtle shimmer, it is very opaque even with just one coat. It makes a nice alternative to the usually dark/vampy colours i wear. I do not have many Essie polishes so i can only go on what my experience is- i find them easy to use and application is smooth. I will be getting more Essie polishes in the future; it's just a shame i have to get them online as here in the UK stores they are expensive.
