Amazing for preventing dry patches that flake your foundation. My skin is normal to dry but in the winter my face gets more dry and looked awful no matter what makeup/primer combo I tried. This is a miracle for me and I stock up during sephora sales.

This is my fifth bottle, I would say it works for me - I got oily skin and it make my skin looks fresh and makeup stays and looks fresh. i use it as a day cream after cleansing and before primer.

I got a sample of this product when I was visiting Sephora, my old workplace. A consultant gave it to me, saying it would boost my moisture by 200% or something crazy like that.
I put it on at 10 am this morning, and by 7pm, my forehead was extremely broken out and my whole face was oily. I usually do not have oily skin. I was really disappointed in this, and now I'm not looking forward to a week of trying to get rid of my acne flare-up. Really glad I didn't buy this product because it really isn't great.

This DID make a slight difference in how my dry skin looked under my makeup. So why would I not repurchase? Well, the cost and having to do the extra step is not justified in regards to the little difference it makes.
I agree that a little goes a long way with this as it is so emollient but there is something a little suffocating about having this sticky-ish layer under your face and sunscreen alll day.
Also the time spent of having to put this on and moisturizer and waiting for them to dry is just too much. hence..this was slowly bumped out of my routine. survival of the fittest i guess.
I guess I could see this as being useful for professional makeup artists who do weddings, print etc. for us regular people? I'd rather buy a foundation that makes my dry skin look flawless ALL DAY..ever thought of that MUFE??

Preface: I haven't purchased this. I was given a very generous sample when I asked to try the HD foundation. When the SA asked if I wanted to try this as well (she called it a primer, though I think that's a little misleading) I didn't know what it was, so I asked her about it. She said it was a serum-type product to apply after skincare but before makeup, and that it increases moisture retention as well as preps and brightens the skin. I have oily skin so I was hesitant, but I took it anyway because it never hurts to try something new.
First Impression: This is a very watery product, but that's not a bad thing (unless you're trying to get it out of a sample jar...). When I first tried it I really liked how smooth it glided onto my skin and how quickly it seemed to absorb. Now I have pretty good, albeit moderately sensitive, skin--minor redness is my only real problem--so I wasn't expecting anything special. But this really did nothing visually apparent to my skin. It looked and felt exactly the same as it did before the elixir.
Wear: I've used this a number of times under different foundations (Mat Velvet, HD, Nars Sheer Glow) and it's performed the same with all of them. Application, absorption, no noticeable effects. Two hours later, greaseball city. It's unfortunate because the elixir really does soften my skin and provide a very smooth surface for blending any type of foundation (which I can get with any primer, so that's nothing particularly special), but I don't know what it is about this that sends my skin into oil overdrive :-/
Final Judgment: Like I said, this doesn't really do *anything* for my skin, but that doesn't mean it's a bad product. I see a lot of other ladies commenting on the benefits, and I can see how this would be lovely for dry or mature skin. The one thing I can say is that I've applied this to my hand, as well, just to test it out, and I can definitely feel the difference there. It's very soft and smooth and delicate feeling as compared to the rest of my hand. So I can definitely see how this would work amazingly well on normal to dry skin (particularly during the dehydrating winter weather). But as a 22 year old with oily skin, it's just not something I need.
My overall rating of 3 lippies reflects on my overall impressions of the product, not simply how it worked on my skin. I think the product is a good concept and that it will probably be lovely for some ladies out there who need that moisture retention that the Elixir provides, but considering that it's really not a miracle product, not to mention that it's nearly $40 for less than half an ounce...this is only an average product.

It works well under my primer. It is lighter than any moisturizer as far as greasiness is concerned. I usually wear it only on special occassions -since it is quite expensive. I think it is a good solution for someone who hates oily or heavy moisturisers.

I got this for free as a gift and was really excited to try it out. Unfortunately, I didn't see or feel *any* difference to my skin. I have normal skin, sometimes a little dry. I don't know - I was just expecting more for the price. I ended up swapping mines away. Only reason why I gave it 2 stars is because there was no negative side effects - but there was no positive ones either. Bummer :(

When I purchased the MUFE HD foundation, I was given a sample of the Elixir. It is a clear serum, with a liquid gel consistency. Very light, and absorbed easily.
Unfortunately, at the time, I had combination oily skin. I applied the product, allowed it to absorb, then proceeded with my makeup routine. The Elixir had no visible results on my skin, wether with the HD primer or alone. I also would like to mention that it had no negative effects. Did not break me out, or cause other skin concerns. It was as if I had not applied it at all.
In my opinion, this product would be good for those with slightly dry skin, or mixed into foundation to give more slip.

Maybe you really need to have dryer skin or skin with lines to actually see this product work. I have average skin and don't see a difference putting on this product than putting on my regular moisturizer. And the biggest drawback is this product stinks! It smells like something that has aged and expired. The SA at Sephora told me because it has no fragrance which is good but... I really cannot stand it so it's just standing on my shelf collecting dust. Quite disappointing. :*(

I got the travel size to try out this product. i can see why it won't work for the teens and twenty somethings. Young skin has moisture more moisture won't make a difference.
So for someone like me who is soon going to another age bracket (the 30's) i was looking for products to handle a new skin regime. For makeup, i love it. Before I would use lip gloss and a brush of powder that worked. Well that is not working anymore my skin it looking a little tired and this product helps. It is very light and I can see it work after 15mins. It doesn't activate my rosecea. Since the bottle is so small I only use it in the day areas and under my eyes. To me it lasts the day. Yes it's pricey! I think i'll save it when i know I need to impress.

Okay I have maturing skin and I find this product is just so so. It's main ingredient is glycerin, which is found in many drugstore products such as soaps, moisturizers, hand and body creams, toothpaste, suppositories, cough expectorants, etc etc...so not exactly a new and novel idea. Glycerin is popular for it's ability to attract moisture but it's effect is short lived. This is exactly what I found with this serum. Put it on and there is an immediate smoothing and plumping effect which does look nice, wait about an hour and the effect is completely gone. The prize is outrageous considering that the product is made of common and cheap ingredients. I received a free sample bottle which is the only reason I have it. I couldn't imagine spending so much for a bottle of glycerin and panthenol.

ok, once again, the mature skin person chiming in. i love this stuff! i think to truly appreciate this, you need to actually have lines on your face! lol. seriously, this really plumps out the dry under eye fine lines and just smooths out the "crepe papery-ness" of them. in fact, what really works for me, is to do my whole base routine, and once i've gotten everything on, including my hd powder, dab just a tiny drop of the elixir on the under eye wrinkles, tap in gently (not rub) let it absorb and leave it like that. no powdery accenting of the fine lines, just smooth, glowy looking under eye skin. it's almost miraculous for faces just beginning to show some age. i will go a long way to avoid that dreaded "caked into the wrinkles" look that can happen if you don't adjust your makeup routine as you age.
i decided to try this using the travel kit, which included the elixir, the primer and the hd translucent powder. i like the applicator as you can dispense just a pin head sized drop. a little goes a long way with this stuff. with all this brand i've noticed, in fact. it's why i don't balk at the price. i use so little of everything, it evens out in the end. if you need something to help with more delicate maturing skin, i highly recommend this product.

I really love this product, I have been using this for about 3 months now and I never give a review until now. I think sometimes it take a lot longer for me to see the results from a products, i like that it is light, I am not seeing any negative results, i am not breaking out, so i think it is pretty good and over time, as the sun is taken a beating on my skin, i am not seeing much demage either. it is part of my foundation routine and I think this will be part of my routine unless something horrible happened. For example, wrinkles......aaahhhhhhhhhhhh

I too, just tried this on at Sephora and was pleased with the results. I get really dry around the sides of my nose so putting a drop of elixir on the spot really moisturized it. But for the price, it doesn't do any exceptionally better than other moisturizers.

I hate to be the first reviewer to have something "not so great" to say about this product, but it didn't WOW me at all. There were two different SA's at Sephora that used the words "phenomenal" to describe this product. (One was the cashier that rang me out and the other was of course, the lady who sold me on it). So I had some really high hopes for this. When I went in there to explore the NARS Sheer Glow, the SA approached me to ask if there was anything in particular I was looking for. I told her that I needed a medium to full coverage foundation that had a natural finish- also mentioned to her that I had been using the MUFE Mat Velvet + and LOVE it but want something with the same coverage but a natural finish. I told her that I had been hearing a lot about the NARS SG and asked what she thought. She took me to the MUFE section and said if I liked the coverage of Mat Velvet but wanted a more natural finish, I should try to mix MUFE Elixir with my Mat Velvet. She said she had it in her kit and it was HG to her. She would mix hers with all types of foundations to get a more natural finish. She said that my skin would soak up the Elixir and that it acts similar to a primer, in that the foundation would sit on top of it, instead of my skin soaking up the foundation, leaving it look more even AND giving me that natural finish as I wanted.. What this left me with was splotchy foundation by the end of the day. It barely looked like I had used anything. Sure I looked "natural" bc the product. was gone. I suppose as a moisturizer it was good, and it still did not give the the natural finish I wanted- it was LESS matte, but not natural finish, and it's UBER expensive too! $38USD. Won't be repurchasing.

I didn't buy this, but tried it on in Sephora, and I have to admit that I was amazed! (it takes a lot to amaze me). I have sensitive, HIGHLY breakout prone skin (ie: I break out from anything and everything) but I applied this 7 hours ago and so far, so good! My skin is oily, but it must also be dry and dehydrated because it sucked up this elixir like water! the consistency is actually pretty watery (a lot thinner and less sillicone-y than MUFE's primers) but a drop plumped up my skin and made my face feel cool and refreshed, without making it look greasy or oilier. Just glowy and dewy. Amazing! Adding some under my eyes took away some of the puffiness and made me look more awake. It is oil- free and almost scentless (but I doubt that it's actually fragrance-free)

I really love this product because it does what it says. It moisturizes the skin sooooo much!!!!! You can feel it!!! You feel your skin so fresh and plump. I mix it with my foundation for a fresh dewy look. I also apply it under my eyes an area that is usually dry. I ll definitely buy this again. The only negative thing is that it costs a lot (32 euros/ 12 ml)
:-(
