This sample kit ($28 at beauty.com) is a good introduction to Jane Iredale's Products. Not only do you get to try their pressed foundation, you also get to try their loose powder, as well as an eyeshadow, blush, lip balm, lipstick, concealer, and lip plumper. There are a wide range of skin tones available, and the kit is tidy and easy to carry around.
That being said, one really important thing I learned is that a product is only as good as the tools you use to apply it. This is especially true of mineral makeup. Although they did try to make innovative applicators, they aren't very good. The foundation brush is tiny and the bristles aren't densely packed. Also, you are to fold this blush in half and use to to apply the blush! Using the same cosmetic blush? Suffice to say, you will not get a true color representation after using the brush a few times. They want you to use the eyeshadow applicator to apply the concealer, and a big bushy brush on the other end of the e/s app to apply the lip plumper. I truly wish I'd have gotten a mini buki like Bare Minerals does.
Jane's foundations leave a creamy bright finish. I really like the pressed foundation. I was using Bare Minerals, but the mess was turning me off. The blush was highly pigmented, as was the eyeshadow. I like the concealer a lot. I wasn't able to get much color payoff on the lip plumper. The full size lip plumper is a stick, so it may be better than what's in the sample kit.
All in all, I recommend a starter kit to anyone who needs an introduction to jane Iredale. Her products are pricey and this kit is better than paying $50 for her foundation to ensure you get a good match. Just keep in mind it IS a sample kit, so the portions are small. Also, just use your own brushes.

For 28 bucks I got (in a nifty little white box) the following: Amazing Base, Purepressed Base. Circle/Delete Concealer, Purepressed Blush, Purepressed Eyeshadow, LipDrink Lip Balm, PureMoist LipColour, Sugar & Butter Lip Plumper, Foundation/Blush Brush, Dual-Ended Brush. All in little but generous enough sample sizes. My only caveat: the light kit is warm toned and the medium kit is the cool toned. But when you order full sizes you can use these as a guideline. I'm so going to break the budget when I order my full sizes!
