Lately I've been experimenting more and more with lipsticks, and this one is most definitely one of my new favourites.
I don't know if a lot of people reviewing just got a bad tube, but the colour isn't sheer. It goes on very dark with just one application. The colour is an inky, dark purple, and super gorgeous. This is the perfect lip colour if you're aiming for something a little more vampy yet chic. Obviously I wouldn't recommend wearing this during the day, but I love pairing this with a well contoured face and lush lashes.
I like the formula, as its quite creamy but buildable. I always use lip chap before I apply lipstick, because my lips get dry very easily, but I've found this lipstick isn't as drying as other brands. The staying power is okay I suppose, but for the price I cant complain.
Overall, I really like it and when I'm done with this tube I'll definitely purchase another.

how are people calling this sheer?! HOLY SHIIT this is DARK! this is NOT SHEER and it is very PIGMENTED on me! it's like 90's goth velvet purple. I doesn't apply matte or heavy, maybe that's why people are saying "sheer". It is very pigmented, even after wiping it off your lips will be tinted plum. It applies a little weird- sticks less to the inner/center of lips. I like that the tube has a clear top so you can see the color, thank you Revlon!

Really disappointed! I wanted a dark purple and this is so sheer and uneven. It's awful. Definitely would not buy again. I like some of Revlon's other lip colors but this one did not cut it.

This lipstick is very disappointing. It goes on uneven, and is too sheer for my liking. Will be returning it.

I am a blue eyed NW10 (NW20 when tanning from a bottle).

This is a beautiful dark plum lipstick. Kind of a Clinique Black Honey shade. Looks beautiful with my pale skin, not too overwhelming if applied lightly. Not very pigmented, but this is a plus for me. One of the few berry plums I can wear.

In the tube, it's BEAUTIFUL. But it's super sheer and to get it looking anything like the tube you have to layer and layer and layer and layer some more. And after all that layering, if you don't have perfectly smooth lips (moisturize and exfoliate before hand)-SURPRISE! Every flaw will be there. Flaws you didn't even know you had will be there. Will not repurchase.

Be forewarned: you will have to swipe this color on a few times to get it to look anything like it looks in the tube. The first layer or two came out sheer on me. So like an Energizer Bunny, I just kept going...and going...and going. Once you get there, it's a nicely pigmented color. And the lipstick itself doesn't feel dry or tacky, always a plus.

The colour looks awesome in the tube, but it goes on sheer and uneven, absolutely not what you want in a lipstick this dark.

Don't let the color of it in the tube fool you! (If so, prepare for a letdown.) It is pretty sheer, blotchy, and settles in lines you never knew existed! It was also cooler than I expected (I guess a good description is a cool-toned version of NARS Fast Ride). Although it looked okay layered over a nude lipstick, it wasn't worth the hassle. This was my least favorite SL lipstick so back to CVS it went!

I found the application was very patchy, it did not sit well and slid off easily. It looked awful on. Disappointing since I thought it would have looked great with my skin tone.

I really love Revlon Super Lustrous lipsticks and have several. By far the best drugstore brand lipstick. I have sensitive skin and some lip products can irritate my lips, but not these. They are smooth, creamy, glossy, long-wearing and the colours are great. On fair skin va va violet is stunning. Very dramatic! A slightly gothy, snow white look. Love it.

I love this color it is so pigmented. The consistany is smooth and it leaves you lips soft. I use a balm under, but you really dont have to at all. Im a Revlon lip junkie so I love most of there lippies.

After looking for an affordable dark purple lipstick for quite a few days, I found this Revlon lipstick in Va Va Violet today at Rite Aid. I am happy with the color however you have to apply a few layers to get it to look like the color in the tube. I took a few pictures to see the different hues depending on the lighting. When taken w/ flash, it is a very vibrant purple! Very different from what it looks like in person--I liked that. The color doesn't stay on that long so I suggest using a primer on your lips before applying it. Overall, I'm happy with it--especially for the price.

This is very sheer despite being dark in the tube. On its own it's poop -- goes on blotchy, hard to layer, and "travels" to the outside of your lips so the middle looks like you didn't apply it there at all, and you have a purple Chola ring around your lips.

You have to layer it over a nude or clear gloss, or a nude lipstick. Suddenly it's the shade it's supposed to be. What I find it useful for is for dotting it one or two times on my lips, darkening an already applied lipstick that I realize is too light for me. At the same time though, darkening a lipstick with purple doesn't always look good on me. It might look good on others with cooler tones.

As good or maybe even better than expensive dark lipsticks----- certainly better than the Yves Saint Laurent violet shade I tried a few years ago, and may win out over my Chanel Obscur lipstick, which has been my favored dark shade for a few years now.

As a previous reviewer mentioned, it is not sheer at all, but goes on even and doesn't come off quickly. You can layer it, to some extent, but even with one application, this is dark stuff. I added a picture for this item, from when I was wearing it to model a dress for my online vintage shop------ the pic of a brunette in a burgundy floral print dress. I could have cropped it, but I wanted to show how much punch and drama this beautiful shade can add to an outfit.

In my case, I feel quit was the perfect finishing touch, and somewhat of a surprise, as I have never been all that impressed with Revlon as a brand.

I love the dark purple colour but this is not an everyday colour if you as pale as me. I imagine it would look great on darker skin tones.

Very dark, but not as dark as it looks in the tub. Hard to apply! You must layer several times to get it even and sometimes it still doesn't go on even. It shows any dry areas, unlike the other colors from this brand. I am not too happy with it, and hope they change the formula. Really, the only way I made this look nice and even was to top it off with Revlon's copper berry glow, and, of course that added shimmer. After that, it looked very nice and more what I was looking for.
