I bought this color after I fell in love with the Antique Gold shade. Bobbi Brown's website describes the color as a golden pewter and I'd say that is about right, although I wish it was a little more on the pewter side. It also seems to be a bit less pigmented than Antique Gold, but I love it nonetheless. I apply a small amount on the lash line, smudge out and it makes my eyes look bright and awake. If you're not into sparkles though, stay far away from all of the Metallic Long-Wears. As with all the other colors this stays put pretty much all day with VERY minimal fading or creasing.

Every single time I have worn one of these, I get several people complimenting my eyeshadow. The shimmer just seems to mesmerize them.

I love, love, love Bobbi Brown but this one 's a big fail. I actually looked at this and a few others but decide to purchase Black Pearl but when I got home I found she had given me Chrome Patina. The reason I didn't buy it in the first place was because I thought it looked a lot like a Benefit CC I have so passed. Well, I've been playing around with this and it doesn't look anything like any of the Benefit CC's I have because it doesn't look like anything at all. It's soooooo sheer there is barely any color to it so it just shows up this strange green/grey veil with lots of sparkle. Now I actually like the sparkle which is shocking given I am not a shimmer girl at all but this is really, really pretty. It's just that it looks like sparkly on this weird film of a weird color. It just doesn't look pretty at all. This one is going back and I'm getting the Black Pearl instead.

Oh how I agonized over buying this metallic long-wear cream shadow. The reviews were not good; the older gals like myself gave great pause about the glitter. But I forged ahead and bought the chrome patina because I thought it would complement my cool blue eyes.

I had done some research into the application of this product and I'd decided before it arrived in the mail that I would use a narrow, small, stiff brush from a Sephora kit (basically a cream shadow brush) to swipe it onto my lids. Then I decided to wear it OVER an eyeshadow (Bahama Brown shimmer wash). I put a very small amount on the brush, swiped it into my crease, put a bit more on, swiped. Repeated with the other eye.

The verdict is that there is a very definite glimmer but it is softened by the gray-green color. Not a whole lot of pigmentation but I did not expect to find it. For me, this product is an accent tool, not the main event on my eyes. The texture is silky. I tend to have oily lids but because I use a powder shadow as a base, the cream shadow stays put, and it does indeed do pretty things for my blue eyes.

I would re-purchase but this deceptively small jar contains years worth of product so I won't have to. For me, this product was a nice way to step out of the bored and tried makeup look I've had for many years, and while I recommend it to other women my age, I do think that you have to agree to a little glimmer and a slightly edgey look. I wore it in the afternoon and didn't feel like a party girl up after hours.

Edited 11/5/09: Today I wore BB's Black Plum shimmer wash on the lid and into the crease (applied Navajo over the entire area first). Then with my little brush I swiped on a bit of the Chrome Metallic Cream Eye Shadow into the crease. The look is absolutely gorgeous and I wore it in daytime doing errands. Four hours later, there is no fallout or smudging. I really like the way this product adds drama but in a quiet way.

Unfortunately Chrome Patina is a disappointment and does not match the quality of BB's other Long Wear Cream Eye Shadows. It's an interesting steely gray, on the cool side but still suitable for warm-toned complexions. It applies as an uneven, sheer wash of gray with very noticeable glitter, and unlike the many others in my collection, it does settle into creases. I waited too long thinking I'd start liking it, but now regret that I didn't send it back.

This is an odd shade - it looks like a metallic greenish grey in the pot, but goes on a cool medium-toned silver. I took a lipstick off because the pigmentation could be better. One layer only produces an extremely sheer wash of color (but tons of sparkle), so I guess if you like barely-there shades with lots of metallic shine this is good. Personally I like more pigment in my eye shadows and didn't like having to layer it on. Still, this is a great product in terms of consistency - the sparkles stay put on my lids, and when I pat it on over powder shadow for some extra sparkle it doesn't get all clumpy. I'm eyeing Goldstone now!
