This is a great mascara if you want feathery lashes. It doesn't seem to give much volume but it coats all of my lashes evenly and gives them a very delicate look.
I would buy this again even though I usually prefer thick lashes but for a softer look, this will be my go-to mascara.

Definitely not the best mascara out. It is a rather wet formula, so it doesn't hold a curl very well. It makes your eyelashes begin to look spidery, and though it does give your eyelashes length, it's really the only thing it can justify. Oh, and the fact that it washes off really well - that's bonus. There's nothing special about this mascara really, but it does flake and clumps yours lashes together.
Oh, this is a good mascara for your bottom lashes though, as it really lengthens and darkens and the brush it a good length.
Definitely not repurchasing - ti's also quite expensive.

Didn't do very much for my lashes - no significant thickening, lengthening, darkening. The formula is watery and the brush isn't anything special. Makes my curl wilt. Boo-urns!

The actual name of this mascara is "Perfect Mascara Full Definition" ...noticing the title for this review section calls it just "Perfect Mascara". Anyway....LOVE this!! They key is multiple coats...It took about three coats for me to get the look that I wanted, which was spidery length!! This really delivered. I like that it is buildable without getting clumpy like other mascaras, when you apply multiple coats. HG for now!!

I usually use the Lasting Lift, but it was discontinued. I tried the Peferct Full Definition mascara with it's "special" thicker brush and I'm not a fan. I doesn't hold a curl very well, it lengthens very little and it doesn't add much volume or definition. I'm going to finish this product out and try Armani's line.

This mascara is fantastic. I absolutely love it! It separates my lashes and it makes it look like I'm wearing falsies!! The brush shape is very nice! Not too big or small, but is the right size to even get the baby lashes. The formula is more on the wet side, and I feel is a tubing mascara because when I remove it, I can see "tube" like pieces.
Definitely recommend this mascara!!!

EDIT: now that I've had this for a while, I don't like it as much. The mascara seems to flake off by the end of the day. I much prefer MAC Zoomlash which does not flake off, Clinique Lash Power, and my old standby, Diorshow Iconic Waterproof.
i don't understand the bad rating this mascara got. when i lost my job and started working as a SA for shiseido for a brief period (unfortunately i wasn't cut out for retail and took the first business analyst job i could find to get the hell out of there) they gave me a tube of it to try. on my long but straight asian lashes this mascara did a good job of keeping the curl and looked separated and long (i'm not a big fan of the voluminous clumpy look, if i want more volume i'll add some falsies) and it was easy to remove as it wasn't waterproof. actually, the only things i don't like about this mascara is that it isn't waterproof which is no good when i'm dancing (which is pretty much the only time i'll bother with mascara and getting all dolled up), and the hefty price tag. since then i've discovered clinique lash power mascara, which is a tubing mascara that does not run when i'm sweating, so i probably won't buy it again... but overall it is a great mascara for everyday wear and my sister & mom (both asians with stick straight lashes) love this mascara for the curl and doll-like length.

I had the sample sized mascara from GWP. This mascara does wonders for my lashes!
At first I was a bit skeptical since the brush looked like any other mascara I've tried, but after applying it I looked like I was wearing falsies! I'm serious! And the holding power is AMAZING. My lashes stayed curled and lifted all day. I even took a nap one time and it still stayed up ;)! The only reason why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because I always have a difficult time removing it, even with a makeup remover... :| I would definitely buy the full size ^-^

I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm a mascara snob. When I buy a mascara that promises not to flake or smudge, I expect it to stay put, PERIOD. Especially when it comes with a department store price tag. Shiseido Perfect Mascara is my first, last, and only line of defense against my poor little blonde eyelashes. It is the first mascara I found that keeps its promises, the last mascara I will ever buy, and the *only* mascara I have ever encountered that seems to make my eyelashes grow longer. I'm not sure if Shiseido has managed to sneak an OTC version of Latisse's active ingredient into this mascara, and I probably don't want to know - but I do know that my eyelashes are now as long as those of a coworker who is a Latisse devotee.
I'm not promising that this mascara will work for everyone - I'm sure that different people's make-up and skin chemistry will react differently with this product than mine does. If, however, you're able to get a sample of this product without committing to the relatively steep price tag, I hope you won't be disappointed. I travel frequently, and I'm not exaggerating when I say that not having to worry about where my mascara will be on my face at the end of a 12 hour flight is worth every penny to me.

I have this in a gwp size. My lashes are long but I want more volume and separation. This mascara clumps my lashes and gives me flakes and raccoon eyes. My lashes touch my cheeks so this is a common problem for many mascaras for me. I feel this may be best suited to someone who has short thin lashes that wishes to have a more clumpy, doll lash look. Will not purchase.

this is one of my favourite mascaras! i dont' know why it got such a bad review. i guess people are not using it correctly? with the nourishing base, i find it a little too much, too thick. but this is the only mascara that can hold a curl!!! my lashes NEVER curl, with every other mascara it weighs my lashes down. this one will stays on ALLL day it won't go anywhere, it won't smudge and it doesn't flake on me. the only thing is that you need to apply it carefully, lash by lash and do it quickly. it will hold the curl and last all day until you remove it. the only thing i dislike about this is the removing part! you can wash it off it circular motions and little pieces will come off in water. otherwise it comes off pretty easily with some makeup remover. though i much prefer something i can wash off instantly and easily with water. if you want wow lashes, this is the product to go for!

I'm not sure why there are so many bad reviews as I haven't had any huge complaints about it except for the packaging (agreeing with other reviewers). The tube just doesn't feel like a high end mascara, but nonetheless, it definitely performs like one! At least to me. This was my first high end mascara purchase. I've always used drugstore and whatever I get in GWP's from other high end brands. But it was my calling when I lost my Shu Umera lash curler (*sob*) that I went to the Shiseido counter to check their's out as I heard good things about it too (and it is AWESOME btw..gonna leave a review for it after this). So the sales lady showed me a kit with lash curler, mascara base and mascara, which I purchased with hesitation but decided to give it a go since I rarely splurge on make up. Needless to say, I tried it for a night out once and fell in love. I guess I got lucky with first-time application bc I apply my mascara slowly anyway as my lashes are so short. I did notice after a few uses, and not using base some of those times, that base does make a difference - it allows for lashes to stay curled and the mascara to not get clumpy as you apply it. This is my new HG mascara. I've branched out to other HE mascaras after this one bc I realized you really do get what you pay for, but this Shiseido one is by far my fave! I've had it for 4 months now and noticed no drying whatsoever either. It also extends and gives great volume. I get asked if I'm wearing falsies!

I received this in a sample size when I bought the nourishing mascara base by shiseido. I really did not like this at first and forgot about it for a while. It was all goopy and stuck my lashes together. I am constantly switching mascaras and found this again and decided to give it another try. Apparently I just needed to give it time or maybe I was just applying it wrong before? But it works great now. The trick to applying this is to GENTLY brush it on. Applying more than one layer is pretty difficult though. But this is not a problem for me because a couple swipes will do for me :). My lashes look super long and stayed curled (with my mascara base underneath). No dramatic volume though. Also looks crappy on my bottom lashes but maybe that's just because my bottom lashes are crappy. Easy to remove with my neutrogena eye makeup remover (2-part solution). Does not flake, smudge, or irritate my eyes. Beautiful black color too. I would probably purchase this in the full size... so long as it performs as well as the sample size!

I hate this mascara. It was horrible to apply, went all sticky and clumpy and made me look like I had transvestite, spidery, flaky eyelashes. It was terrible to remove, waxy and runny at the same time. I will never, ever purchase this again.

After using various Christian Dior mascaras for eight years, I found Shiseido Perfect Mascara and never looked back. This mascara lengthens, doesn't clump and defines lashes very well. It's best not to push to hard on the brush when applying. I alternate eyes, beginning with a few strokes on one eye, then switching, until I have the desired look. The result is separated, super-long lashes. It doesn't smudge or run. It lasts through the day and night.
The only drawback is centered around reapplying. If you reapply, it gets a bit clumpy. Since the product holds up so well, there should be little need to reapply anyway.

I got the sample of this product from a counter, but here's my 2 cents.
-Doesn't hold a curl.
-Product on brush is always too much thus I have to wipe some, wasting some.
-Gives panda eyes.
Do not purchase this.

Good stuff. I like it but i agree that the product is a bit wet and weighs down the eyelashes...at first. But after 3 months, it's ok as it's a bit more dry. The only problem is the price, it's a bit expensive for something that dries out pretty fast.

The first mascara I actually hate. It surely has lengthening properties, but the lashes are very unnatural looking, brittle, sticking to each other. I decided to use this tube I have here up, but today I finally threw it out . I took a closer look in the mirror and I realized that it made my lashes fall out. I used to have lush, dark, long lashes, but now all I have is some barely-there, half blond, tiny hairs.... I don't know what they put in this, but I hate this product so much that I have no words for it and do not recommend it at all.

STAY AWAY from this mascara! The lady promised that I would like this mascara. When I went home, it was a goopy mess. But I was determined to like it so I returned that defective tube for a new one. The mascara applies very wet and weighs down my already straight lashes. Plus the packaging simply fell apart. I realize why the first tube was goopy. Normally when you pull out your mascara wand, there's something that you pull your wand through that wipes off the excess mascara. When I pulled out the wand, the plunger thing came out with it and you end up with a goopy mess. Sometimes if I twist the tube a little differently, I can get it to come out more nicely but still it is too wet and weighs my lashes down. And sometimes when I twist the wand, the outer cap of the wand comes right off. Somehow I've managed to completely disassemble my mascara. For the price of this mascara, I expected way better performance and package quality. I've never had any such problems with any other high end or drugstore mascaras. I am very disappointed with this not-so-perfect mascara.

Lengthened my lashes but they looked thin and spidery. A big disappointment.
