I think this lipstick is terrible and was a waste of my money. The color is gorgeous, but the texture: dry, drying, and powdery. Matte lipsticks are my favorite and I have many, yet none are as drying as this. It's not a little dry or "matte" dry, it's "tug on your lips" dry.

I love Illamasqua, but I want to return this. The only way I can make this work is by slathering on lip balm and dabbing it on with my fingers.
I exfoliate and take care of my lips and still this is the most unflattering formula I've used.

In summary, yes, there are ways to make it work, but at $24 I shouldn't have to go through so much trouble.

Obey is such a unique, amazing colour. It is a peachy pastel lip colour with a white pigment base. When you put this colour on your lips it has such a technicolour look!

The only downfall is that this lipstick is very drying. It's retro slather of colour sadly has that retro feel on your lips after an hour, it feels quite chalky.

Before I put it on I buff and exfoliate my lips and set them with a heavy balm. I would recommend using a lip brush and buffing the lipstick, really working it in. If I need to apply I do blot off as much as the remaining colour as I can and then rework the lipstick on. The whoel process can eb annoying and a little time consuming but for such a one of a kind colour it is worth it!

this is drying no matter how I apply it. even if I use a sheerer lipstick and then use this on top. also this settles on my lips horizontally. like if I rub my lips together it collects in lines. total fail. 35AUD. I will never go near illamasqua ls again.

The color is gorgeous and just what I was looking for in a milky peach-pink, but the dry, powdery texture is a turn-off. I recognize that light-opaque colors emphasize pigment settling into lip lines, but it was especially noticeable with this lipstick and it is partly because of the overly dry texture (yes, it's supposed to be matte, but this is kind of like chalk. I much prefer MAC's matte lipcolors!). I expected more from a $22 lipstick. The chalky look doesn't seem to improve with clear balm, but here's what does help: spread a medium-light layer of it on your lips using your finger, and then layer over with Estee Lauder Pure Color Crystal Lipstick in Peach Fizz (a dupe color-wise, but much more moisturizing and sheer) so you'll still have an opaque look, only you wouldn't mind being seen in this one!

I love this lipstick!! It is such a unique color and have yet to find another like it. It is the prettiest shade of peach. It can be drying so I recommend layering this with a moisturizing lipstick .

My search for the perfect pastel/peach shade is over. I ran into this after falling in love with YSL's Rouge Volupt #30... but not with the price. I then ran into this beauty after looking at Illamasqua's line -- one look and I knew it would look gorgeous on my NC42 skin. I tried it on, and sure enough -- perfection! It is the perfect pastel peach. It is a matte texture, but it is gorgeous. You can always add some clear or peach gloss and it'll look just as beautiful! Lately I've been very into matte lipsticks though. Point in case: If you like peachy or pastel shades, give this one a go! It is a stunner. I had it on tonight while I left Sephora and was complimented and asked about which shade I was using from two different people! I definitely don't regret purchasing this beaute. xx

It was not as pigmented as I expected it to be. The base is not very sturdy. I forsee the lipstick will snap / collaspe on me before i am half way thru it. For the price, the lipstick casing was quite tacky, nothing spectacular.

dupe for MAC creme d nude and Revlon colourburst Soft nude.If you have most highly raved nude shades, you ought to skip this.

If you're here, you know that we've all found the HG of light pastel peach lipsticks!

Obey is a light pastel peach. Very opaque and dries to a matte finish. It is an amazing color. THE color for this year and looks great on light or dark skin. I love this color!!! It'll give a very South Beach look on tan skin and a girly look for lighter skin. I can't find anything similar to this color with any other brand.

The slight drawback on this lipstick is the dry factor. It's better than Wet n Wild matte lipsticks but you'll still need gloss or balm either underneath or over to avoid the flakes of ??? Is it the lipstick or my lip skin? The quality is top notch: Germany, thank you...and the packaging is ok. Very basic.

Love this color!!! So glad to have gotten the rec from belledujournyc on YT (she has SPOT ON taste in color). Thanks!

I can't believe I haven't reviewed this yet! I wore it most of this past summer. It is a great, unique color: light coral. I posted a pic above of it on my lips with NYX smokey look gloss over it. I have 4 Illamasqua lipsticks. Yes, they're pigmented and chalky and need a gloss over them to look good. But they last a long time. I am really impressed with this brand of lipsticks and with the unusual colors. I don't have another color lipstick like Obey. I will repurchase and hope Sephora never stops carrying this brand!

This is a really unique color. The swatches that I've seen online and on MUA look like a very pale pink, but on me this is much peachier--more like a light peach with a pink undertone. It somehow manages to give me a pale mod lip that is also bright and playful. Like most Illamasqua lipsticks, this is a very matte substantial lipstick. I hate sheer and glossy lipsticks because they look pretty when you first apply them but quickly wear off (YSL Pur Rouge, I'm looking at you). This tends to be dry, but also lasts forever--through drinks and meals--and wears off evenly. But on the downside, this lipstick is hard to wear in the same way MAC myth is hard to wear. It can be rather chalky; I have to run my finger over it to smooth it out. That said, it's still worth it because the color is really special and it wears long. I am very impressed by Illamasqua lipsticks. They're comparable to Nars semi-mattes. Here's hoping sephora gets some more colors soon.

EDIT: lipstick fail. This is just way way too dry and chalky. Back to Sephora it goes.

I love this color!I have very pigmented lips and usually I'm using my MAC Myth lipstick,to make them look paler.I needed a warm rosy coral lipstick, but all lipsticks I found were too sheer.I can't wear the MAC Glaze or even Lustre finishes, just because they dissapear from my lips very fast. This lipstick is VERY pigmented and it is also dry.But I'm using it with my MAC Underage lipgloss and it looks very nice.I would not use it without lipgloss, because then it looks artificial. It's a very feminine and vivid color. It has great staying power and I would buy again.

For my very pale, cool skin, this is a bit warm-toned on its own. Still, though, tis lovely. Very dry to apply, but I don't find it overly dehydrating while on. Wear time is wonderful, and it's very pigmented. Still on my lips even when the gloss over it wears off! I find this lipstick needs gloss or something over it anyway, as it looks a bit chalky on its own, and my boyfriend even said the same. I haaaaaate that the shade name rubs off all Illamasqua products so bloody easily.

with illamasqua solid colour lipsticks you MUST find the perfect lip balm/moisturiser to use before hand otherwise you will end up with dry cracked lipcolour. something non-pertroleum besed and non-oily.
(Burts and bees beeswax lipbalm,
sex wax lipbalm)
the darker colours of this lipstick tend not to be as drying or atleast when they dry a little its not as obvious than with the paler colours.
generally a good matte full colour lipstick when applied correctly.

I have mauvish or sometimes pinkish brown pigmented lips. NC30-35 skintone, asian, yellow based. I do like the color, turns out kind of light/med coral peach looks on me. It brightens up my complexion. And I don't really need any other strong makeup to go with it. Just a bronzer, brown eyeliner will do or natural brown eyeshadows. I think the focus should be on the lips. The Cons: it's "drying" and "crack" my lips, UGLY!!! The chanel counter guy noticed the cracked, ughh!!!. It reminds me of Makeup Forever or MAC lipstick. I always put lip balm underneath, but still drying on my lips an hour later. Smokers beware, pls exfolitate first before putting Illamasqua lipsticks. Staying power not bad, but since it's drying, it looks best to wipe and reapply like new. Don't add on the color over and over, too matte and accentuates the lines. I wished it's more creamy and moisturizing like YSL volupte. I really like the color on me, so I'm keeping it.

Obey is a warm corally-pink lipstick. Like most of Illamasqua's lipsticks, it's a matte finish and is extremely opaque. I like to apply this with a lip brush for best results and I find that a little bit goes a long way. I love wearing this with Illamasqua's sheer lipgloss in Soul over the top but it also looks great paired with any pink, peach or clear gloss. There's the smallest hint of a sweet smell from the lipstick but it doesn't have any taste at all when it's on your lips. The packaging is fantastic - really sleek just like all of Illamasqua's products. Overall I'm really happy I have this and think it's a great one to have for anyone who likes warm pink lipsticks.
