I've found that glitter-free, natural-looking, day-light-friendly highlighters are exceedingly difficult to find, and this product is among the few that I like.

The Good: I use this as a highlighter (cheekbone, brow bone, cupid's bow, etc.), and it gives a dewy sheen with no glitter particles. This is probably the most natural highlighter I've tried so far. It can show up very slightly white or silvery if applied thickly, but I've found it to be almost completely sheer after blending (I have light-to-medium skin, Chanel 30). I don't know if this is also true for darker skin tones though.

The Bad: The reason I'm giving this product 4 instead of 5 stars, it isn't that long lasting. Typically, it'll be gone by the end of the day. I'm not really sure at what point in the day it disappears though. Another small complaint I have is that any product on your fingers will transfer and stick to the product in the pot, making it look a bit grimy after a while. I try to clean off any product from my finger before using, but I can still see some foundation/concealer in the pot.

Overall: Great highlighter! I'd definitely recommend it to those looking for a natural looking highlighter to use during the day (particularly those with lighter skin tones).
Alternatives: For natural looking highlighters, I also really like Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector and Shiseido Luminizing Satin Face Color (High Beam White and Soft Beam Gold). I've also sampled MUFE Uplight and really liked it as well (but can't remember which shade).
Value: I think it's a pretty good value. Mac charges $18.50, and it should last at least 4-6 months (if not more) even if you're using it everyday.

For others also looking for more natural looking highlighters, here are the ones I've tried or sampled so far:
No glitter: Shiseido Luminizing Satin Face Color (High Beam White and Soft Beam Gold), Mac Cream Color Base (Luna)
Some very fine glitter: Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector, MUFE Uplight (can't remember the exact shade, which I do think matters), Mac Cream Color Base (Pearl)
Higher glitter content (what I personally found to be too much for day): Armani fluid sheer (02 shimmering beige), Benefit Watt's Up, Benefit High Beam, Nars Blush (Albatross), Nars Multiple (Copacabana, Orgasm), Nars Illuminator (Copacabana, Orgasm)---although based on the many glowing reviews for a lot of these products, the ideal amount of shimmer/glitter in a highlighter is clearly a very personal opinion!

I wanted to try a Creme Colour Base for a long time before I finally did. I first heard how great they are as highlighters from Kandee Johnson who loves Shell and Pearl. For me I wanted something really glowy that isn't frosty at all, and Luna looked perfect. I usually put this on and then top it with a powder highlight, but that's not necessary, this stays really well on it's own and gives such a nice, pretty glow.
I'm really glad I finally picked this up, I won't need to look for another highlighter again as long as MAC makes this.

I really love this. I love highlighters, I just really like the look of a good sculpted cheek bone, and Luna does the trick. I love it, because it doesn't look glittery, or even really shimmery, just very glowy. It lasts all day, and I don't feel like you have to use very much. I will definitely be buying this gem again.

Great and versatile high lighter for my fair complexion. Luna departs a lovely soft glow without looking overly glittery or obnoxious. Stays all day without fading or migrating too.

Fab highlighter. Use it when contouring with Harmony, dab it with my finger above my cheeks, just above my blusher. Always goes (from bottom, up) Harmony, pink/peach blush, Luna. Lovely shine and very creamy consistency. One problem I have is that it sometimes doesn't go on evenly and you can see 'cracks' where it hasn't. Maybe I'm just being picky though, I basically put my nose up to the mirror so can see every single imperfection. :P Anyhow, such good stuff nevertheless, will continue to purchase when I've ran out. :-)

This was one of the first cream colored bases I purchased and I love it! It is so versatile. I use it as a highlight and a color base. I mostly use it to highlight my cheek bones and brow bone. It gives a nice irredecent sheen.

Love this. I always wondered how some people glow without looking greasy. This brightens my face without looking as a disco ball. I use this under my eyes and my eyes pop. Great product!

I hate the consistency of this product. It doesnt stay put and is hard to build up. I dont think it is worth the money.

Love this! It is sheer enough that it imparts an almost ethereal effect to the skin, never looking artificial or "makeup-y" instead like your glowing. Incredible on the cheekbones under blush or even bronzer and on the eyes (I like it on the inner V to bring some light there and make my eyes look bright and awake). Will most certainly repurchase.

Love at first sight!! How did I even manage to do my highlighting with L'Oreal Touche Magique??
I think this looks best on cool-toned skins. I apply it on my browbone, cheekbone (under my blush) and occasionally use more elaborate highlighting techniques. It's sheer but visible, not shimmery but very natural looking, sculpts my face and brightens up my eyes. I've been using this everyday with great results, and I will definitely repurchase!!

Love on first use! Thank you MUA!!! Had this for a few months now & LOOOOOOOVE it! It's the perfect product for highlighting my cheekbones. Beautiful colour that gives off a glowy sheen. Isn't shimmery but metallic in a gorgeous way. I hate shimmer but I also want something that catches the light. This does that & it's so creamy yet it won't dent if you press your finger down & swirl. Only con is that it can get a bit dirty but I'll continue to buy this. Most perfect highlighter ever!

Can't believe I was so stupid, insisting for so long on using YSL as a highlighter! Got this just to see what it can do. Glad I gave it a chance! If you want that glowy red-carpet look, you should get this. Easy to apply, stays put and never fails to give me that dewyness that I always admired on actresses.

Just a generally nice highlighter. Nice consistency, goes on easily with fingers or a dense brush, blends like a dream, stays in place and most importantly adds a dewey highlight. Nice price, slick packaging.
Can be used on cheekbones, down the bridge of the nose, cupids bow, brow bone or even on the inside corners of the eyes to give a bright eyed look.
Only slight downside is that the pot can get a bit mucky when you use your fingers or a brush that hasn't been recently washed which isnt nice

i definetely need no other highlighter when i have this one! it looks a little too white but actually it is the most natural pearly effect.i use it nearly everywhere on my face, and get a long lasting result.i prefer using it with brushes for the perfect result.it seems like even though the brushes sometimes need so much product,it still hasnt even half finished but when it does there will be a rebuy

Perfect highlighter and eyeshadow base ! My mom gave this to me, so I'm not sure about the price, but it's a little expensive, but then again it's MAC. I've had it for sooo long already. It gives the perfect amount of color and shimmer.
Classic packaging, and I like that the sticker with the name doesn't just fall off like it does with other brands.

Although this is a ccb for your eyes, this product is very versitile. I use this as my hg highlighter on cheekbones and my browbone. Luna is a beautiful white color, but dont let that scare you. It goes on every skin tone. It looks very sheer and natural. This product brightens the complection so well. It makes you look fresh amd awake. It is very creamy and it blends very well over any type of foundation. Even powders and minerals. It never looks chalky or cakey. It adds dimension to your blush and bronzers in a unique way bc of the white color. This can be used with any color blush but looks fabulous paired up with Nars Orgasm. Makes your skin glow! This a must have/try makeup product. It will always be a favorite for me.

I love to use this product as a cheek highlight. A lot of highlighters are too gold for me (Vanilla pigment, Nars Albatross) but this product is quite neutral so it goes with any blush. I can put it over powders and it doesn't make it patchy.

I originally bought Luna to use as an eyeshadow base. I wanted a brightening base like NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil in Milk. However, Luna (over UDPP) creased horribly on my eyelids within several hours. After that, it sat untouched in my drawer for a few months.
I recently rediscovered Luna when I was looking at my stash to see if there was something I could use to brighten/lighten my lipsticks. I use my LE Mac Fun Fun lipstick sparingly, and I wanted to get the same kind of bright Barbie pink color from some of my warmer pink lippies. I put Luna down as a lip base and VOILA. It transformed the look of so many of my lipsticks, making them brighter/lighter/frostier/bluer. Now, I've got double the amount of lipsticks because of this base! Also, on its own, it looks a bit like the much sought after Bubbles LE lipstick from MAC.
My new-found love of Luna prompted me to use it as a base color on other areas of my face. Now I use it as a base under blush, and I find that it intensifies the color and makes my blushes more long-lasting. However, I find that it does not really show up too much on my NC25 cheekbones as a highlighter. I do use it on my nose, and it seems to look great there, although it doesn't last very long. I always apply it with my fingers - no brush necessary.
Luna is also great to use on your brow bone. So although it doesn't really function as a shadow base for me, I definitely recommend Luna CCB for its many many other uses.
