I have used Lauren on and off (mostly on) since 1978. Loved the original - the reformulation is partly why I use other perfumes. It just is not as good as the original....cannot capture the amazing clean freshness of the flowers nor the depth of the spicy woods. Too bad, such a gorgeous complex fragrance. I've received countless bottles of this over the years and one of them is an original that I savor. As another reviewer pointed out, the reformulated Lauren is better than no Lauren. I am contacting the company as suggested to help, perhaps, get our old favorite back.

It's such a classic and I still love it as much as I did when I started wearing it in the 80s. It's clean and not syrupy sweet. Just a hint of sophistication but still innocent. Classy. Love it.

They never ever should of changed the original smell. The new one has nothing to do with the original, no woodsy note, no depth, nothing. Huuuhe disapointment

I recently purchased this for the first time and am loving it , though it is rumored to be discontinued . It is a woodsy floral , feminine , with good sillage and projection. To me it is classy , not too subdued nor overpowering , and very distinctive . It would be a great fragrance for any adult woman , day or night . Lovely !

Lauren is a lovely fragrance which I wore when it first came out in 1978 and for many years to follow; its fresh, sexy, woody, spicy. I love the original Lauren fragrance as it has much more depth to it, warmer and spicer than the new formulation, however in my opinion the new Lauren is better than no Lauren. I feel great when I wear it, just like great fitting clothes or your favorite fitting jeans, although its just no match for the original fragrance. I called the Ralph Lauren company and the woman told me that if they received enough calls or emails regarding the original formulation that they may consider bringing it back. She told me she would forward my request on to the proper channels. So if you love the original, don't give up - just get on the phone and Call AND Email Ralph Lauren and maybe with enough requests we can get the original back into production!

Every single Ralph Lauren fragrance that I have tried I have adored. Lauren is my Mom's signature scent. I've always loved how it smells, but I need to find my own "scent". I guarantee that it will be a Ralph Lauren though!

I remember this scent from when I was a teen in the late 80's. Everyone was wearing all these other scents, but this one was the one I liked. I had a little tiny sample of it. I now have this for real. It doesn't get the full 5 stars because I remember this as being a bit less sweet, a cleaner scent. Maybe it's a reformulation, but I wish I could get the original one I had. It's a bit floral, a bit green, a bit fruity, blended seamlessly and perfectly (I know, kind of cheesy). : D
Edit: I've taken away a lippie. I don't like how this fades...it smells even less like the original formulation as time goes by, and I find I'm not wearing it as much.

Lauren by Ralph Lauren is a lovely Green Floral with just a touch of woodsy notes. It smells sophisticated and understated (unless one applies way too much). It's a warm and wonderful scent for Autumn and Winter. Unoffensive and accomplished enough to wear to work yet woodsy and green enough for casual jeans and a sweater wear. This is a perfect scent for Autumn and Winter. I highly recommend it.
Top notes: Green Notes and Violet; Middle Notes: Rose, Jasmine, Lilac and Violet; Base Notes: Clove, Cedarwood and Vetiver.

My roommate in law school wore this. I didn't realize the way she smelled was a perfume until I sniffed a bottle she left on the table, I always figured she just smelled like "herself". I like it. Its not girly or obvious at all, but its not masculine either. Its just a nice, low-key, smart, fragrance. I find it relaxing. I'll always associate this with an intelligent, studious person. Not a bad thing :)
UPDATE: I got a bottle of this recently. Maybe they reformulated it because all I get now is johnson's and johnson's baby shampoo with a a cheap, white floral thrown in. Maybe my roommate's personal chemistry brought out more in this scent....

This is my mom's smell. I remember loving it when I was very little. Classic but unusual.

Despite having heard of this fragrance back in the '80s, I never gave it a try until about 2 years ago when my cousin (who normally doesn't like perfume) mentioned that her friend always wore this and she liked it on her...she described it as a warm fragrance. So I went out looking for it, tried it and loved it! Starts off quite strongly floral on me, but by the end of the day it's a softer, sweeter floral. I'm wearing it today and keep sniffing my wrists!

This used to smell great. I remember half the girls at my high school wore it. I smelled it recently, and I think they've changed the formula. I remember it being a rosey-violet floral with a woody base. It seems more generic now.

I am 37 years old and never have been without a bottle of lauren. Its funny how I get sick of other fragrances so quickly sometimes, but this smell never ever do I get tired of it. It has its own Identity to the smell which is a classy distinguished clean and fresh yummy smell . When I smell it, its always new. Somehow, with this scent, it does'nt lock in memories or remind me of anything, so then I dont tire of it. Is'nt it strange how perfumes give memories so we can not like them or like them or be sick of them for this reason!

I first smelled this when I was about six years old, while playing at a girlfriend's house, we snuck in her mom's room and sniffed all her perfumes. Oh, heaven! I have two favorite flowers, honeysuckle and lilacs. This perfume reminds me of warm lilacs. I never owned a bottle until about 2 years ago, when I told my husband when I first smelled this perfume and he bought me a bottle for Christmas. It is my signature winter fragrance.

This was my high school signature scent. Verdant, woodsy, and classic. I think this is one of those scents you love or hate. I loved it then; now... not so much!

Definitely of it’s era and completely not my style. A bit strong and aggressive, with clinging greens and an almost oily scent. Candy notes creep in later. It's definitely interesting, but not something I would choose to wear.

i always liked this a lot, but it "belonged" to someone else, and in my mind, still does. my good friend, lauren. yep, perfect. i would admire the bottle on her table and really liked it on her. there are several scents i'd wear but they just remind me so much of someone else that i can't bring myself to do it. i wish a certain 'b' word had not worn halston so much! i used to love it so!;o)

I miss this classic 80's fragrance! It's hard to find these days. I think that this brand has slowly been phased out of production but you may find some of it floating around on the internet. I happen to really like that rose and mixed potpouri scent this has. It seem to have a claming effect on me for some reason.

I recently went to L'Oreal warehouse sale and came across "Lauren" there. Even though the price was very decent ($20 for 59ml) and the bottle looked oh so sophisticated, I passed.
It smelled very "old school" to me, and while it's not a bad scent on its own, but I think it's better be left in the 80's. I'm by no chance a hater of classic perfumes (adore vintage Guerlains, etc.), but to me it's not a classic, but one of those perfumes so stuck in their era and totally unwearable outside of it. It tries very hard to be a classic, but it's not.
