Great everyday shade! I use this with Copperplate from MAC in my crease. The texture is very smooth. The price is high, but you get quite a lot eyeshadow. Unfortunately I hit the pan on this eyeshadow. But I will definitely rebuy!

I love this eyeshadow! I didn't really want to buy it at first because it seemed like too much money for a little thing of eyeshadow, but I read great reviews and the packaging is just TOO CUTE! This eyeshadow is great for highlighting the inner corner or brow bone, or even just as a base shadow. Sometimes I just wear Ruthless all over my eye if I'm in a rush, and it never fails to look gorgeous! I've never had any problems with the fallout, and the amount of glitter in it isn't too much for me, so I can wear this shadow anywhere! I love this eyeshadow and I highly recommend it! :)

I'm not a big UD user. It's not that I dislike their products, it's that there's usually too much glitter/shimmer for my age. (It really does accentuate wrinkles, so enjoy them while you're young.) But I read about Ruthless and decided to give it a try. I am totally wowed. It's a gorgeous light taupe with superfine shimmer that makes my lids glow without looking crepey. And the quality is incredible--it's creamy, applies and blends like a dream, and no fallout! It wears all day, too. I can understand why people might find it too light, but for me it's perfect, and lends itself to a variety of looks. My only complaint is the packaging--it's bulky and dorky, but that's a minor quibble. I can see myself wanting to wear this every day!

Colour: light mushroom taupe with VERY subtle shimmer. The application was super-easy, as the consistency of this shadow is worth every penny; very velvety and smooth, and a little goes a long way. Quality is amazing.
The funky art packaging is pretty cool and different, but its a slight pain in the ass to open (little button to push). After a few days, the shadow seemed bulky in my makeup holder at home.
Here's why only 3 lippies: The shimmer effect didn't seem to be there, and the shade looked pretty pasty on my lids, which I hate. I tried to use along with another colour, but when I spend that kind of money on a lighter shadow, I always look for something I'll be able to use on its own as an all-over wash and with this, I can't (again, too pasty/chalky looking). I really didn't feel I'd ever use it again. I returned it.

I love the NAME of this shadow, but the color payoff is something else. I have the Naked and Deluxe palettes, and 33 individual UD shadows and this is by far the worse color payoff of ANY of them hands down. I'm as pale as they come and it's barely visible on me. I was hoping for something similar to Maui Wowie (minus the glitter), but I'm taking this back and getting something much more worthy of the Urban Decay name!

I love pairing this up with a darker taupe color in the crease. Actually, I combine this with Underground & Zero, which is my simple go-to look. Love this guy to death. I already have a small dig going! It wasn't too expensive because I bought it off All Cosmetics Wholesale (loads cheaper). The formulation is smooth and buttery, absolutely perfect. All the Deluxe formula are great. UD please make more colors!!

One word - boring! Dirty champagne shade without the "taupe-sh" effect I love..

Ruthless is a medium taupey shimmer. The color reminds me of a latte. It's very pretty and flattering, and IMHO it's a great neutral to have in your stash.

The main reason I bought this was the packaging which is quite possibly the cutest thing ever.
The shadow itself is so silky, however the colour pay-off isn't as great as I expected. It's perfect as an all over lid colour for when you're in a rush or simply can't be bothered putting in the effort.
Got this for £4.99, so glad I didn't pay the RRP for it or I think I would have been more disappointed. For £4.99 though, I'd buy it again.

I have not seen the appeal/been a fan of taupe in the past. Yet I chucked this in my shopping cart just to give it a chance, reading reviews that it was a nice taupe. The color looks kind of browny in the container, but applied looks far more grey. I don't know how it does that, and it might look different depending on the skin tone of the person who wears it (for reference I am an NC30 and it looks (taupey) greyish on me. The consistency is nice, as Urban Decay's eyeshadows tend to be. I was happy to find out it was NOT a glitterbomb, like many UD shadows, which in my opinion ruins them. This one is kind of a shimmer, but the shimmer is very fine, so it's acceptable for daily, office wear (if you work in an office- I don't, but I think it'd be acceptable). I understand finally why some people are such taupe-fiends- the color is flattering because it draws attention to your EYES, not your eye MAKEUP. Which is the goal, at least for me, for everyday daily makeup. No matter what color eyes/skintone you have, I imagine this would look nice on you. ALSO I must mention this because I am a total dork about makeup packaging: I think this may be my favorite makeup packaging ever. I don't care if it's cutesy, it looks kind of like a little metal pillbox and has a little picture on the front featuring a robot and a dinosaur. I do not know why, but I like it. Would repurchase for sure, it's by far my favorite UD shadow (To be fair the only other ones I have are the ones in the Urban Ammo palette half of which were ruined by glitter). If you're a taupe skeptic like me, give this one a shot. If you don't like it, alright, move on.

Wow, this is a beautiful shadow. The texture is buttery, soft and smooth. Reminds me of the texture of the old Chanel Shadowlights, which I loved.
As far as the color goes, I'm loving it. On me it's a beautiful, shimmery, champagne color. Reminds me a lot of MAC Vanilla pigment, but less messy to use. Now if I can just get my hands on a Naked palette...

This is such a great shimmery, pale, neutral taupe color that doesn't turn orange or pink on me like many shadows in this color range do. Despite the packaging, which I love incidentally, UD's deluxe shadows are the big sisters of the regular shadows. The shimmer is flattering and not full of over the top glitter. This looks so good with UD shakedown or MAC copperplate in the crease, or by itself with bold black liner. A definate staple for me.

Amazing nude taupe color. It is great for days I just want something on my lids that isn't difficult or dramatic. It stayed all day with a primer underneath and made my eyes just pop. Has shimmer, not glitter, but nothing garish or too crazy - it didn't look either cool or warm on me. It is sooo smooth and buttery!! I love this - it is a basic (not boring!) neutral color that makes me look polished in seconds. Must have staple - so glad I picked this up! $18 for one shadow but you get more than the regular UD pans. I am a neutral e/s junkie and this made it into my top 5! Definite rebuy!

The first two words that pop in my head are "unique" and "perfect." This is such a pretty shade. It's a cool-toned, sandy beige that is actually really versatile. You can wear it all over the lid by itself (it looks surprisingly polished) or in any number of combination with other shades. I like to dust some on other shades to tone them out or blend out the edges. The color itself is most similar IMO to Bobbi Brown Beige, only slightly more cool-toned. When swatched next to Stila Wheat, Wheat looks more warm and brown. When swatches next to Nars All About Eve, the Nars shadow appears to have more peach undertone. I don't know that I would call this "taupe" but it is hard to define. I searched for photos of this before ordering, and many of the pics I saw made this look more brown than it is. In some pics, it looked like a lighter version of Underground. This is not the case. However the swatch on the Urban Decay site is actually pretty accurate. The texture on this shadow is quite amazing. It's soft and very finely milled. It's not matte, but I don't think it's right to call it a shimmer. It leaves a really pretty sheen on your eyes. The packaging is pretty cute, but I do prefer the traditional round UD packaging. Also I picked this up from AllCosmeticsWholesale for around $8, which is a great deal. However when I use this up (and I do use up my favorite shades), I would gladly pay full price for it.

I used to love this. Then I don't know what happened. It just doesn't look good on me anymore. It doesn't really show up unless I pack it over a dark base. It's a shame because it's so pretty in the pot and when swatched and I love the texture of it.

I love the Deluxe line, even if they are a bit more expensive. Ruthless is a great basic shade, not too much shimmer or glitter for use as a highlight or lid shade. A great staple product. And though I do think the designs on the Deluxe shadows are cute and all, I'd really prefer being able to see the shade itself (if I keep adding to my collection, I can see issues arising, trying to memorize the designs). Not to mention the oblong shape puts a hitch in my obsessive organization of eyeshadows, but that may just be me. :)

The reviewer below described this color as what coffee looks like with a lot of cream in it, and I couldn’t think of a better way to describe it! It does have shimmer in it, but it’s subtle in my opinion, in comparison to other UD shadows. The formula is smooth and buttery, the pan is generous- I don’t see running out for a few years- this color is very neutral and wearable, perfect for those looking for an “everyday” taupe eye shadow. I usually do an allover wash with this, and the color is pretty close to my skintone, so I don’t have to be overly cautious when applying, which I like when I’m rushing around getting ready for work. The color really looks nice with my dark brown eyes- it gives a natural polished look without looking too “done”. Tip- I bought this @ www.allcosmeticswholesale.com for $8.99, so if you really love this color, save your money & get it there while it’s still available! The packaging makes me laugh & makes me think of my little brother being into dinosaurs growing up in the 80's. Overall, very good product, no complaints. Will repurchase.

Urban Decay describes Ruthless as "pale sandy taupe shimmer" which I find very appropriate. This is a nice nude shade that barely shows on my pale complexion. It's an all around color that I either wear on its own for a natural look or combined with a matte black for more drama.
This shade is not terribly unique, but the texture of deluxe eyeshadows is of excellent quality and this particular shade is suitable for vegans. The packaging is cute and fun (with a picture of a robot and a dinosaur!) but also useful with a mirror inside.

I'm a NC15 (or lighter) with light blonde hair and blue eyes, and I really love Ruthless for when I want a nude wash with a little shimmer. (When I go matte, I use UD Foxy.)
Like all the deluxe shades, this goes on velvety and it looks great. If you're fair complexioned and want a lot of color, this sadly won't do it for you.
If you want it for a next-to-natural look, however, this is excellent over UDPP.

I debated for a few weeks about buying this eyeshadow after hearing some raves about it by certain youtubers. After deciding to skip it because I found it so similar to a shadow by Shu Uemura I finally decided to take my Shu shadow with me to Ulta to do a final comparison. They weren't exact dupes for eachother so I decided I would give it a try. I am very loyal to MAC shadows, but I decided I would venture out and give this UD product a try especially being that this looked like a must for any neutral lovers collection. I am not disappointed by the shadow itself but I will say you need to find a good base to bring this shadow out the way you would expect it to look. I used painterly, bare study, and finally rubenesque. That is why I am taking off one lippie because it needs a strong base otherwise it just will blend into your skin color and fall flat. However once placed over a darker base it comes out. For me it was rubenesque that did the trick, but for others I heard groundwork paintpot. I am now able to use this with confidence several times a week for a neutral look. In some ways it almost reminds me of Vex eyeshadow but without the pink. I am NC15 for reference. EDIT: I am going to return this shadow as I have found something that I can be 100% satisfied with, and that is a shadow that has the color payoff that I am looking for.
