I love this scent. I only use it for special occasions because I don't want it to run out! However, this is a strong scent so you really only need one squirt to last all day or night. I really like how this smells, its very warm and fresh at the same time. It doesn't smell like old lady musk or baby powdery. Its got an exotic and vibrant smell, but yet cozy and inviting. If you're going for a young and modern scent, I'd steer clear of this perfume. It is very mature, but womanly. I would recommend this. You won't be disappointed.

I don't like rating perfumes as I quite often like something on other people only to try it and realise it settles as something abhorrent on me so I felt reviews saying this is horrible are a bit unwarranted. It could just be your hormonal make up reacting to it.

This perfume is very sweet once it goes on but dries as just light and fresh, like clean skin or clean laundry but very sensual, not like other clean smells (I use Phylosophy's Pure grace usually and Gap's Grass scent - just to give you an idea what I like).
It made several people tell me I smell amazing once I wear it. I love smelling it on my coat several days later, it lasts well.

What I don't like about it is the stupid bottle. The top comes off with difficulty and actually made me break the spray button - it just came off with the top. I was pretty angry as I just forked out for 100ml. I managed to reinstate the button but I cannot use the top any more, which makes it impossible to pack for travelling.

Top marks for the scent (you either like it or you don't) from me but rubbish bottle.

I love the smell of this perfume. My boyfriend thinks this is a scent for elderly women. I was shocked as he told me. I think this is a sensual smell for a woman in love or for a romantic moment. It stays on for a long time. I love this perfume and I am definitely buying this one again!

My favourite. I bought make-up in France while on holidays,,and i was given a sample of this. Fell inlove. When i went back to London, I tracked it down and bought a bottle. Just romantic and sensual. Before this i was wearing Calvin Klien Euphoria...so that kinda style:-)

After a lifetime of trying everything from drugstore to department store to artisan handmade and niche, I've finally found my HG. This has the sweetness of the roses in my garden with their lemony freshness, it has lilacs and lily of the valley and freesia. It is beautiful. No, it doesn't have the Guerlinade, it has no darkness and no heavy undercurrents, but that does not mean that it has no complexity, that it is simple and boring. In the cool north of England on my cool skin this has great longevity and a development from sugared lemon through all of those flowers to a sweet warmth. Of all the myriad fragrances I've tried - and I have box after box of samples and bottles - this is the only one that has received multiple compliments from male and female strangers .

I can't believe Guerlain makes this fragrance. Usually their scents are complex and interesting, this by contrast is quite boring and unoriginal. I agree with the reviews that say this smells like urine or something funky when it settles down. Why is this so expensive? And why is there like 5 versions of it? It is nothing special at all. It's putrid!! Not "Idylle" at all.

R.I.P. voluptuous, unforgettable Guerlainade. Monsieur Arnaud has killed you off forever-- all in the name of reducing Guerlain to another of his McLuxury Brands.
This is a simply AWFUL, toilet bowl smelling atrocity.

I hope with all my heart that this man NEVER gets his hands on the house of HERMES.

I receive this parfum as a gift from my Dad when it was launched, he says to me,“ i was in a depart store and ask to the lady, what's the best womens fragrance u have here? And she told me, well i got something new and exclusive from a luxury french house! And i bought it to u my darling” thank God im being a good daughter :) i was impressed it's sweet floral, elegant and feminine with lily of the valley and fressia notes that i love so much in parfums! Excelent longevity, a little goes a long way, and the bottle is so beautiful well designed that looks like a tear drop!!! Perfect for evening wear, Love it!

While I adore most things Guerlain, this is truly horrible. I have tried it on multiple occasions and have smelled it on others as well. On me personally it's nothing but oak moss, gasoline, and a synthetic patchouli. There may also be some animal pee in there too. It lasted on my skin for almost 2 days, and yes I did try to scrub it off. This is not a knock-off, I sprayed it on myself in a high end shop in Europe. I have smelled it sprayed on others in the states. On others it smells like a less fruity version of Lady Million, which in my opinion is also a blight on perfumery. This is just my take, if you like spray away!

I coudn’t believe all the poor reviews here…Anyway, Idylle is so sexy, extravagant evening fragrance. This is one of my favorite parfums, and I own quet few. Just for a clue, I use: Guerlain Insolense, Rouge Royal by Marina De Burbon, Cloe, Narcisso Rodriguez, YSL, Viva La Juicy, Lady Million by Paco Rabbane, Gucci Guilty. Unique European fragrance!

Another boring floral, mass marketed for the mass taste. What i dont like is its from Guerlain and its expensive while smelling totally pedestrian. Maybe its a bias - since fragrance might depend on who is wearing and how you wear it. I knew someone wearing Idylle, a big, elderly lady quite opposite to elegant or tasteful, who was always carrying a bottle in her handbag and liberary spritzed it every inch over her clothes, like every hour. So whenever I see Idylle or smell it somewhere, i remember this lady as if she was Kate Moss in the marketing add.
And i strongly dislike the bottle design (similar to CD j adore), dowdy, not stylish.

This perfume, to me personally, is a very pleasant surprise. When I first got the sample, I didn't like it. I found it a little too sophisticated. But then I somehow got another sample of the perfume and it opened my door to this scent. It is just a delightful scent.

I find this perfume way too strong. Its sophicated, elegant and smells good quality but it just lacks that young, pretty, fresh smell that I generally go for.

I got a sample of this fragrance, loved it, and I bought a full sized bottle (without wearing the sample). This perfume smells amazing, but I get a terrible, throbbing "behind the eyes" headache within five minutes of application. I have had this problem with other fragrances, but nothing like this. I can't wear it, which is a shame because it is quite expensive.

I can't believe the poor comments on this gorgeous addition to the Guerlain family. This is seriously delicious - spring flowers after the rain. It doesn't have the the musky vanilla scent so often found in Guerlain perfumes, but it dries down to something powdery yet floral. It is very romantic, very feminine. Love it!

Horrible, synthetic, almost vulgar scent. Too sweet, too sharp, too everything. And then it dries down to pee/bug spray odor. Blahrrgh!

I agree with Dvrogue's sentiments in that there is nothing wrong with a fragrance simply being pretty and easy to wear. Having said that, it is not easy to buy with a hefty price tag of $148.00 C. If I'm going to spend that much, I'll take a trip to the Hermes counter or Chanel or put it towards an Amouage. This is pretty, bland, faceless and totally boring and in wide distribution. Why, oh why, won't Guerlain distribute their older beauties more widely? Chamade anyone? Mitsouko in all its strengths? Pure perfume anyone? Now THAT I'd happily plunk down my cash for, but not this. In fact, I just lowered this to one lippie because it's less than a one coming from Guerlain.

I have to agree with drvogue and cocorocha's thoughts on Idylle. I just received a mini today in an order and absolutely loved it from the start. No, it isn't Apres l'Ondee, Spiritueuse Double Vanille, Tonka Imperiale or Mitsouko. But when considered beside other recent mid-market releases like l'Instant and Insolence, Idylle fits well into that range. It is a sweet floral with a hint of jammy fruits, and wears on my skin in a glory of heady flowers interwoven with musk and a soft hint of fruit. It is yet another floral, but it is very, very good at what it is and smells well made, expensive and like a good amount of care went into the composition of both the fragrance and the lovely packaging.

It is not a classic Guerlain that I have to track down on Ebay and engage in a bidding war over. It isn't a modern high end niche Guerlain. for which I'll have to spend a couple hundred dollars. While I do both of these somewhat grudgingly on rare occasions as I feel the juice is definitely worth it, I will be just as happy picking up a bottle of Idylle for around $50 online and putting it on when I want something sweet, clean and pretty to wear. For a modern fruity floral, it blows the similarly priced competition out of the water (I'm looking at you, Gucci Flora and yes you, too, Pleasures Bloom.) I agree there is a bit of SJP Lovely and Narciso Rodriguez EDP in there somewhere, but Guerlain adorns and adjusts that musk note and embellishes it with fresh and fine florals that make it a fragrance all its own.

I am very happy I decided to pick up the mini as an impulse item, and though I was planning on wearing the actual full size bottle of perfume that I purchased with it, I will be wearing Idylle tonight instead and save the other for tomorrow. It is not a classic Guerlain. But the diversity of the house--for better or worse--is what I love about Guerlain. Even if I don't like something, I can really credit them with putting quality and their own special touch on that particular product, and for that I think Idylle is most definitely a Guerlain.
Updated on Feb 10-2011 I have to mention that since buying the 3.4 ounce size in the spray bottle, the staying power is fantastic! I sprayed on my usual amount in the morning and could still smell it on my skin and clothes later that evening. It isn't cloying by any sense of the word, but remained a pretty and musky veil of scent around me throughout the afternoon and evening. I love this perfume!
Idylle notes:
Lily of the Valley, Peony, Freesia, Lilac, Bulgarian Rose, Patchouli and White Musk
