I love this shade. Others have done a good job describing the shade, it’s a brownish plum with bronzy shimmer. I did not buy this (I swapped for it) so had I shelled out the big bucks I may feel differently, but I am actually quite pleased with the overall performance. I love purple & plum nail colors, and I don’t have anything quite like this one. It’s a nice, warm plum & the shimmer gives it beautiful dimension. Its opaque in 2 coats. The brush is fine, though the square-shaped bottle & cap are more for looks than ease of application. The formula is quite thick and takes a long time to dry. I always top it with a fast-dry top coat, and it looks rich & shiny & beautiful. The lasting power is quite good- I get 2-3 days before any tip wear, and 4-5 days before any chipping. I can get this to last a week+, with a mid-week touch up. I don’t ever tire of looking at this shade on my nails. I would repurchase, should I ever have the need & I could find it for a good price.

I'm not much into nail polish and if I use it during the summer months I normally prefer nude or rosé shades on my toe nails (on my fingers I don't like any polish) but when I saw this little gem at the Nars counter I was immediatedly hooked! The color is a very flattering brownish purple shade with shimmer and looks simply gorgeous!

This is the first and only NARS polish I own. At double the price of OPI or Essie, both of which are sufficiently expensive, this is a total rip-off. OPI lasts much longer on my nails, and the square top is kind of cumbersome to hold while painting such a small area as a nail. I'm not sure any of the 3 pictures currently posted are an accurate match for what the color actually is, which is "deep amethyst infused with gold" as the Sephora site says. I normally don't like shimmery nail polish, so I'm not actually sure why I bought this, maybe just to round out my Sephora order or because I didn't really have anything like this. I've only used it twice, and it tends to appear a little brown on my nails. I gave it 3 lippies because the first time I wore it, I got 3 or 4 compliments, from my husband, some SAs at the MAC store, and at a restaurant, It's a stand-out color, apparently! It might be great for a pedicure, but I only get pedis in the summer and I can't see this color looking good on me with a tan (I'm NW15-20 in the summer).

At first, this color never appealed to me until I realized for a party that it matches the color of my Louis Vuitton bag and I just knew it was perfect! The color takes getting used to because it's special in a way that the color's not appealing. It's much like, as described from a nail blogger, "deep amtheyst infused with gold". When I read that, it made me acutally like the nail polish. Nars polish formula is great as always!

Gorgeous! A dark, plummy eggplant color with very fine shimmer. Wears well, looks equally great on fingers and toes. A definite must for the ladies who like dark polishes.

Tokaido Express i s a dark plum color with gold shimmer. This shimmer is very fine and gives the finish of the polish an almost metallic finish. It is a very sophisticated color and I found it much more flattering than darker and maybe more popular purple colors because instead of a purple it is more of a plum. The lasting power of the polish is decent but not inpecible and the application is nice and smooth. It looks equally nice on my hands and toes. This is probably one my favorite colors in my collection.

A nice but ordinary chocolate plum with shimmer. The formula is messier and more diffult than average to apply and it has a very, very long drying time. I would negotiated the problems with it if it had a standout finish but it can be had with other brands.

I bought this last year with the Fast Ride lippie.. and after using it once decided that it was not really a fit for me. I like dark nail polishes but this was not that dark, nor was it light -- and the golden reflections were not really my cup of tea. I much prefer my Chanel Vamp and darker colors that don't have any glitter. Besides, there are too many dupes of this eggplant color -- and at much cheaper prices.

*yawn* super boring color. in the bottle it's a really pretty amethyst w/ gold flecks, but on my nail goes very brown. I've been using it strictly for pedi's and will continue to do so because I can't stand looking at it on my finger nails (I hate brown). like all the nars polishes I have they wear really well and dry very quickly; never taking more than 2 coats to get the color in the bottle. I definitely won't be repurchasing though.

I love this color. It is a dark amethyst with gold shimmer and gives a really beautiful, sophisticated, edgy manicure. The formula wears well also. I am on my 5th day of my manicure and don't have any chips yet, although I do put another layer of topcoat on every other day. The only thing I hate about NARS polishes is the bottle. The cap is really big and square and sometimes it is hard to hold on to. I wish the cap were shaped more like OPI or Spa Ritual, which are easier to use. Other than that I love this polish and will probably purchase more colors.

I love this color. It really stands out like most of Nars' make-up colors. It's a very deep amethyst (but almost chocolatey) with gold flecks on it, a touch which I find very nice--sophisticated but rock-and-roll edgy. I am quite alight with the price, it's somewhere between Essie and Chanel, and for the kind of color you get, it's worth it. And two applications is enough for me, it goes on opaque. I do have an issue with the brush, the handle is square and it's not easy so maneuver around the nail. I find it really annoying. But what can I do? I absolutely adore the color though. Staring at it in different lights reveals another side of its color. In the sunlight, its more vibrant; at night it's mysterious.

I just bought this today and it's my first NARS nail polish, I love it! 2 coats gives you the desired coverage and this color is beautiful. I will purchase other NARS polishes in the future.

This is a beautiful color. I had expected more of a purple from the description, but actually, once on, it's almost a chocolate brown with a hint of eggplant. It's very much like Diors Lemon Balm (#703) however I think that the Dior is slighly more eggplant/purple and it lasted forever.. In the Tokaido Express bottle, you do see very small shimmer however once on, it's not noticible. It took two thick coats to get good opaque coverage and a third probably wouldn't have been a bad idea, I do use OPI alot, and their polish seems to go on smoother and thicker then the Nars, and was not so streaky. I also noticed the brush isn't as good as OPI's new one, and this takes a bit longer to dry, It's a pretty color and I will wear it, but it will take something very special by NARS to get me to purchase another polish from them. especially at that price.

I love this color, it's definitely not your typical dark color. to me it's such a graceful color for some reason, i think the gold sparkles definitely helped it :]
and the pigmentation is slightly on the low side, but after 2-3 coats the color really shows.

Gorgeous colour! A shimmery eggplant shade. I got a rich colour in two coats. It applied easily and dried to a shiny finish. I applied a top coat to enhance the staying power and shine. $21 CAD is an outrageous price to pay for a nail polish, but i splurged and am quite pleased!

Wow, this is my first NARS polish and it was so worth the money. It is a deep eggplant-wine color with a pearl that is primarily gold but I swear I see some other colors in certain light. The pearl gives it this "lit from within" luminosity that is way more understated and classy than normal shimmer. Also, this applied like a DREAM. Non-streaky, opaque with 1 coat but I did 2 to get a darker look. I actually love the brush, it is stiff enough and just wide enough to apply evenly. I find the square top a bit hard to handle though, and it makes it a bit difficult to open and close. However, that is hardly enough to keep me from buying more NARS polish. Yes it is expensive at $16, but at least you get a full .5oz, unlike MAC's .34oz. Definitely get this color, I am in love with it and it has inspired me to start a NARS polish collection.
