This is absolutely fantastic. Nothing usually works to get rid of the stubborn little blackheads on my nose and surrounding cheek areas. Nothing. I've tried the Clarisonic (which is better for other things), other charcoal and clay based masks (Sanctuary 5 Minute Thermal Detox Mask and Clarins) and pore refining serums which have alleviated them, but not entirely gotten rid of them. Then I got a sample of Clear Improvement.
I ended up getting two samples because I tend to enjoy clay/charcoal based products which really help to soothe and heal my acne prone skin. Kaolin is one of my favourites for this, but when this lovely ingredient is mixed with something clogging such as our foe dimethicone - I feel as though this is counter intuitive. The Sanctuary 5 minute Thermal Detox is an example of this.
Anyway, I was very reluctant to try out this mask - just because anything I see that is dedicated towards removing blackheads and impurities I see as alleviating rather than miraculous. I tend to say, "that will do" as I stare into the mirror at all the other blackheads on my nose that products in the past have failed to completely remove. So I slathered a generous amount of this mask on my nose and surrounding cheek areas. I have a really, really blocked pore on my right cheek so I slathered some on there, just to see if it would work. I was going to leave it on for ten minutes, but I got distracted talking to my friend on the phone. You can see how dedicated I was, I left it for 25 minutes. I looked in the mirror and saw that the area where I applied this mask was quite tight so I decided to wash it off by steaming it with some warm water and a muslin cloth and as it melted a little I lightly exfoliated my nose. I then splashed the treatment area with some cold water.
I begrudgingly walked back to the mirror and checked the area, expecting to see lots of little blackheads staring right back at me. I was wrong. My whole nose was completely clear. I'd never seen anything like it before in my teenage/early adult life. I find the whole idea of not having blackheads on my nose completely baffling. I'm laughing to myself like a massive weirdo because I'm not used to seeing it looking so clear. I also checked out my right cheek where the offending clogged pore lies and even though it hasn't been removed - it has surfaced - which is amazing. I think with prolonged use (once weekly/fortnightly after a peel) this mask will be perfect for my skin. I am astounded.

I have been a loyal user of the Shiseido 'The Skincare' Purifying Mask for the past ten years (which is crazy considering I'm 25, but that's what happens when you grow up with a mother who is skincare obsessed) but when I ran out of my last tube, I thought I'd give this Origins mask a try. I have combination skin, which tends to get oily in the T-zone during the summer and I definitely have some visible pores around my nose.
- dries relatively quickly if you're in a rush
- skin feel very clean afterwards
- takes care of my blackheads on the side of my nose
- strong tingling sensation when you first put it on, which I love (I guess this could be a con)
- I like that it's in a tube, more hygienic
- price, this is not an inexpensive product by any means, but when I look at how expensive every other mask is at Sephora...
- very difficult to wash off, I wash back and forth multiple times with my face cloth since I don't want to scrub really hard and I make a mess over my sink every time
- as it's almost done drying, it feels SUPER stiff and uncomfortable on your face
- gives me a lot of redness after I wash it off (which does go away) and the skin on my cheeks are a bit too sensitive for this mask, so I started only using it on my T-zone
- wreaks havoc on my white face cloths
- doesn't minimize the appearance of my pores
- I don't see a noticeable difference of how my skin looks and feels afterwards
I think this is overall a decent mask and does what it's supposed to--clean out your pores--but that being said, I'm going back to my Shiseido mask after I finish this tube. That mask is pricier ($24 for 3.4 oz vs $30 for 3.2oz) but it does everything that the Origins mask does, but also leaves my skin feeling smoother and my complexion looking brighter and more even. It's also much easier to wash off and better for sensitive skin. The only thing that the Origins mask has the Shiseido one beat on, is that the Origins one dries a lot quicker if you don't have a ton of time to sit around.

skin is oswp / dswp.
applied a very generous amount to my face this AM especially around my prominent side-of-nose pores, and waited 10 minutes.
after i washed it off, holy cow! my skin looks poreless! and where the prominent side-of-nose pores tended to be 'home' to gunk, my skin feels flexible and the pores seem empty and closed.
very impressed. will have to start using this more often.
i must say, the results were far more impressive when i used this with a very generous amount in the problem areas (a nice thick opaque layer) rather than a thin transparent layer.

I am on the fence about this product. The first few times I used it, I wasn't wowed by any means. It did an okay job, but didn't live up to the rave reviews that I had seen about it from various beauty bloggers. However, I decided to amp up the intensity of this mask by adding powdered activated charcoal, and now I like it a lot better. With the addition of the extra charcoal, this mask gets super black and it actually dries on my face (it didn't really do that before). After I rinse it off, my face looks and feels very refreshed and detoxified.
Be advised - if you decide to add extra powdered activated charcoal to your mask, it is VERY messy. So even though I enjoy the results, I'm not 100% sure that I would get this again just because it's such a hassle and such a mess. I'm very on the fence about this product, but on it's own, it's really nothing spectacular.
Age: 18 & Under Skin: Normal, Medium Hair: Blond Eyes: Green
Although this product doesn't seem to do anything EXTRAORDINARY for my skin, I still adore it. It leaves my skin feeling lovely and soft, very clean without feeling tight, and my pores look good the next morning. It is not overly-scented, which I really like - the smell is just fresh. I don't see any incredible results in terms of clearing up my small breakouts, but other than that, it's wonderful. I would say this is a good mask for people with combi/normal skin, who just want something nice for the occasional pamper-evening.
CON: The black colour of the mask can be a bit annoying when it gets on any light-coloured clothing/towels. As well, it's a bit difficult to take off. I usually try soaking my face in warm water before wiping it off completely.

I like using this when my face is tired and when I am about to use powerful skincare products. It deeply cleans my skin without any irritations.

I have oily skin; okay very oily skin. This mask is awesome. I can see the gunk coming out of my pores on my nose. The second time I used it I no longer have black heads on my nose. Those black heads where literally there for years. Now they are GONE!!!!! My skin feels awesome and is now blackhead free!!! I'll still keep used the queen Helene mask for spot treatments on those pesky period pimples. But this mask rules a must buy totally worth the price $16 for a travel size (which will last a long time) from sephora.

This mask is quite simply amazing. It didn't do exactly what I wanted it to do, but it's still great. I bought it for some hormonal breakouts on my jawline for about $34 from a Mecca Maxima counter. I love how the packaging is easy to use and hygienic. When I applied this mask it did tingle a bit, and I do leave it on for a little bit longer then reccomended. It didnt' clear up my breakouts but I did notice right away that most of my black heads had been cleared and the next day I noticed a visable difference.
This is fantastic for black heads but not my hormonal breakouts. I tried so many products to clear my breakouts but the only thing that has helped is the 'La Roche Posay - Effaclar Duo' & the Alpha H range. With these products, my skin is looking great.

This is a great mask. It makes my pores smaller after one use and makes my face look very clean afterwards. It's not as expensive as some of the other masks at sephora. However, it's a little hard to wash after use and I would prefer if it was a peel off mask. I had a very painful cystic breakout and it helped calm it down but does not get rid of it completely. I have cheeks that sting with other masks, I used to use the bourghese mud mask and usually had to avoid my cheeks but did not have a problem with this mask. Overall, I am very happy with this mask.

This is a regular cleaning mask, mid price, nothing too special for me. You wash it off after 10 min so it doesn't get too drying. And even when it dry it isn't doesn't get too hard. As for cleaning effect, it doesn't work above average. I used Borghese clay mask and Queen Helene before and the cleaning effect are better than Origins, but these two are dryer clay base. So I guess the Origins one is more gentle? I do have sensitive acne prone skin, and I am afraid too use any clay mask too often will be harsh on my sensitive skin. I use this once every two week or only on T zone and chin. So I don't know what the long term effect if you use this once a week. But the reason I use clay mask it to clear out my pore to prevent clogged pores, so this is mask doesn't meet my expectation and need. Overall, I don't see anything especial about this mask, will search other clay mask instead. One warning, this product does go bad quicker than stated expiration date. Mine changes smell before that, so use it up quickly after you got it.
