I hated this. It absorbed way too fast, before I even had time to spread it around. The face version of this is much better.

After trying several other brands I felt I needed to change my review on this! At first I wasn't too keen as this product is VERY sticky feeling and takes a long time to dry and it has a very strong metallic smell to it. HOWEVER if you can deal with that I think the staying power of this product is amazing. You don't have to reapply it for ages and when you apply it, its non streaky and easy to use and wont stain hands. I rate it better than St Tropez sans the smell/texture! ALSO I am very fair and find even the deep version is natural on my skin. :0)

I have the tinted mousse version of this too. I was really nervous about using it as fake tans often go very wrong on my skin! I exfoliated well and applied the mousse. I found it easy to apply and the tint showed up well. It dried quite quickly. I only used it on my upper body. I was delighted with the results. I'm quite pale so it was nice and subtle. would definitely use it again.

After using Estee Lauder's self-tanner for a few years, I got talked into buying this one instead when my EL ran out. I'm grateful, because this is the product that made me realize....I just don't have time for self-tanner!!! It takes too long. I waited twice as long as suggested on the package, and I was still sticky. Sorry, but I don't have time to stand around naked for an hour!
I threw this out (which I rarely do after spending $25 on something) and have since switched to one of those gradual-tan body lotions...way easier....

I have been a fan of fake tans for a very long time and this one is one of the better ones.
I bought it in medium-dark, since light-medium often is VERY fair.
Its tinted so you see where you have applied. The consistency is perfect, easy to get even. But i really would say this color is for pro only, not amateurs, since the result is a really dark color (for me, i love it)
A perfect goldenbrown shade that looks very natural.
One more thing thats so lovely about it (that is rare) is thats oil free and non acnegenic, how many self tanners has that? Not only that it dries pretty quickly as well.
The only thing i dont like is thats shimmer in it, WHO wants that?
it looses one point cause of the shimmer.

I had already bought this when I read the reviews. Needless to say, I was apprehensive......ready to take it back. But, I tried it anyway, and was pleasantly suprised. It wasn't nasty smelling until I woke up, but I've become used to that smell. The color was even, no streaking or patchy spots and was a believable color. It was relatively easy to apply (I use gloves) and when mixed with a bit of moisturizer, was able to get my hands without all the orangy stuff. Not the best, but certainly not the worst. I would repurchse.

I have the tinted mousse version of this. It's a slightly tinted creamy mousse that glides over skin easily. I like the fact that it's tinted so that you can see where you apply it. You also get an instant bronzing effect (no shimmer). Some self-tanners I've tried have been quite sticky but this one dries quickly.
It has the same nasty smell as all other self-tanners I've tried and it's quite difficult to get rid of. A few hours after applying I develop a very light but even and natural looking tan. I am very light skinned so I don't know how much effect someone with a darker skin tone would get from this. The reason I give this such a low score, despite the natural looking effect, is the fact that although you wash your hands instantly after applying this you get orange palms. I've tried just about everything including really scrubbing my hands after applying . There are a lot of other self tanners I've tried that gives just as good results without the nasty hand tan.

This review is about CLINIQUE SELF SUN BODY BRONZE GEL,
I was excited to try this product, being a good brand but after more then one use, it all washes off! After the first use, it leaves a very satisfying glowing bronzed look, however I have pale skin, So I wanted an actual tan, I used this product the next day, even waited another day another time, and then after I showered it washed off! I defintely waited TWENTY FOUR hours, until I showered, so I have followed all the rules. I am not sure if I am one of the few that has this problem, but This is not the best tanner out there for me. I also think it's a little too orangey after a few uses.

*I usually put this on 15 min before my mineral makeup, and I find it gives me a nice healthy glow.
*I apply all over my face and neck.
*It is not extremely dark.
*It is a nice consistency and smoothes out well.
*Is rather pricey, but seems to last well.

I have tried other self-tanners (Aveeno, Olay, Fusion, Jergens), and I found this to be one of the worst. I think it's probably because it does have a bronzer, which is nice when applying, but definitely not so nice when it stains clothing or sheets, even though u've allowed it to dry before putting them on. I must say the colour was decent, but the smell was kinda bad.

This product is part of my summer staple or during special occasions.
PRO: creates a subtle tan. if you want a "tan tan", you must build it up. also, i would suggest you do it overnight so the next day you can build it up from there.
doesn't create streaks.
CON: smells like a tanner. sticky. stains a bit (washable tho)

This self tanner makes you extremely sticky and it smells horrific. It's also very annoying to apply. Worst of all, the color is more on the orangy side. I use everything from clinique and I love it, except this product. I bought it in the first place because I thought, if it's clinique, then it has to be good. But it's not.

I'm Indonesian. Most people here are obsessed with fair skin. But I read Allure and they said that self tanner can 'hide' stretch mark. So I think I should give it a try. I had to ask a friend who went to Australia to buy me a selftanner. He gave me this Clinique.
The result? I guess it didn't work on Asian skin :). My skin colour didn't change a bit. Perhaps I have to try tinted body lotion (and have to ask a friend who'd go overseas because there are no tinted body lotion available here, ha ha ha). Update: It works on my skin..It makes my skin darker, and...orange-r...but I love the result and still learning the technique!

This product has been pretty dependable for me - I keep buying it over and over again. It gets me pretty dark after one application, although the color normally takes overnight to develop fully. Two applications is usually the most I need (I'm fair with golden undertones). It's a lotion, a reasonably emollient one, so streaks aren't an issue except on feet & hands, like with any self tanner. The dryness of your skin of course, has everything to do with streakiness of ST's, so if it's winter and I"m really parched or flaky all over, I'll mix this 1:1 with a nice light lotion like Cetaphil, with very good results. In the summer however, sometimes my skin is so "not dry" (oily I guess? hydrated?) that most self tanners don't even work on me because they don't absorb and the only thing that tans me is a really dark mousse or... this stuff. Yes I do get a little stinky, but it's not too noticeable unless I sweat or don't shower the next day. My only complaint is the tube isn't big enough - I run out too fast!

I have tried several self tans over the past 15 years and yes there has been a great improvement in most products in comparison with the orange slick that was, or at least I thought was, until I tried this product. The main requirements I look for in a self tan are, reasonable pricing , dries quickly, develops reasonably quickly, smells ok, doesn't streak and lasts at least 3-4 days. None of these requirements apply to Clinique self sun. It is the one and only product I have used that I can equate with self tans that were available 15 years ago . It is horrific. The cheapest of self tans on the market are without a doubt better than this. It has that really gross 'fake tan ' smell. After scrubbing my hands following application they still ended up bright orange right in to my cuticles. After applying it, it remained sticky all night and was extremely uncomfortable only to awake to a patchy orange tan that I had to scrub off immediately. My favourite is still St Tropez and I also like the new Johnson & Johnson Holiday skin body lotion which gradually builds up to a very natural tan. Guinot also do a nice self tan. I threw this product into the bin after one application. Don't even think about buying it. There are far better products on the market.

Bought this because the other self-tanner that I wanted from Clinique was discontinued in my city. Was not too impressed with the product. After applying it, I waited more than an hour before putting on my clothes before going to bed. The product was so sticky and uncomfortable that I woke up in the middle of the night and was not able to sleep after that. In fact, I felt so sticky that I felt as if I was sweating and was SUPER worried that the tan would streak. To make things worse, I realised that my bed sheets were badly stained from the tanner and felt quite sticky as well. Colour wise, after 4 hours, it developed into a dark shimmery copper brown(with me still feeling VERY sticky, looks nice but seems to me quite fake as it was WAY TOO shimmery.) 3 hours on(which is 7 hours after application), it developed into a dark brown colour(with the shimmer minimised greatly). Streaking was apparant on the front of my calfs(but was not too bad) and on my feet(which was pretty bad and screams uneven fake tan!). Overall, was WAY TOO STICKY for my liking and I did not like the colour after it developed. While the application was easy, it is still not worth repurchasing cause there are other products out there that offer good application for nearly half the price! All in all, the cons GREATLY outweigh the pros. Among the 3 self tanners I have tried, this is the worse!

This is one of the best self tanning product. It dries up quickly so it's great for the rush hour plus the texture is nice and smooth and it's not sticky. And, also after you've applied for more than a week, the color of the tan and your real skin tone just blend in together so it won't leave some dark spots on your skin like other brands do. This is a must have product for self tanner lovers.

Another summertime staple for me. I think I mostly like the fact that this doesn't have that strong "self-tanner smell" that most do. I use it mostly on my legs, since they hardly ever see the sun, and I can wear a skirt in the summer w/o feeling "pasty."
The color is very subtle, so if you want more color, then get the dark one. I'm an olive toned NC25, and I like this one b/c it adds just a hint of color w/o being too obvious. I like the shimmer in it too. Makes my legs look so much better in the summer!

Actually I didn't find the smell of this tanner to be very offensive... I like that little shimmer it leaves after the application. But, it comes off very easy in contact with water, and leaves streaks afterwards. Also, I have noticed orange marks on my clothes from this tanner, though they come off after wash.
