I really love his foundation because coverage is amazing and gives you an air brushed look. However it is a really think cream an texture and is quite annoying and difficult to apply to the face. That's only thing I really have to complain about. I got it at a great deal because it was on sale!

I love this foundations full coverage and pale white shades but its VERY drying. It looks extremely cakey on its own, i have to mix it with Macs studio sculpt foundation & a moisturizing BB cream to make it wearable.

I have been using Estée L Double Wear fresco mixed with shell for the past fifteen years. They have changed the colours and formulation so I am in the market for a new foundation. I like medium to full coverage in paler colours with pink undertones. The lady at Illamasqua gave me 120. Colour seemed fine. I can't express how disappointed I am with this foundation! Yes, it's very highly pigmented and extremely full coverage but it has no staying power. My skin is fair, freckly, pinkish and combination. I've never loved the tone of my skin but its in very good condition. I applied it after moisturiser and primer as I would with any foundation. I didn't find it difficult to blend and liked the effect initially. However, after one hour, yes one hour! the product was breaking down on my skin, becoming patchy and oxidising. It fell into all of the fine lines around my eyes and mouth and looked horrendous on my nose. As disappointed as I am with EL for messing with double wear it still out performs this by a million percent. Just remember that full coverage doesn't necessarily mean it is durable. This certainly is not.

I've been looking for a heavy coverage foundation for a little while now, and that's definitely what I got with this. On the first use, I fell in love. My skin had never looked so perfect! I haven't experienced any of the application issues mentioned here (drying out too quickly, difficulty in blending) - I use a tiny amount of product and apply with a brush and it works just fine. Before this I used MAC Studio Fix, but I need MUCH MUCH less of this product, so while it's about the same price I expect it to last a lot longer. I bought this online, which I've never done before with foundation, so I was a little worried about the colour. I'm NW15 and bought 120 in this. I think it might be a little lighter than NW15, but luckily my face is a little darker than my neck anyway so when I wear this it actually matches the rest of my skin.
By the end of the day this does start to wear off, especially on the oilier parts of my skin, but it's got much more staying power than my old Studio Fix. The other thing is, if you've got any dry or flaky parts it will make them more noticeable, but I find if I just remember to exfoliate regularly that problem is kept at bay. I use it every day (I have blotchy skin which I'm self-conscious about and this just covers it so perfectly) and haven't had any break-outs or anything so far. All in all I'm super happy with this foundation.

EDIT: Not sure why, but this has started to wear off more quickly. I have a bad habit of touching my face so that could explain it. Also I've worked out that on hot days it doesn't cope too well, which I'm really sad about because I really want to love it completely. I will keep using it and just touching up over the day, though I had hoped I wouldn't have to do that. Still prefer it to Studio Fix.

This is a very thick foundation - they say to only use it when you're going out to a party or on a special occasion. I gives a very good coverage, you definitely don't need to put concealer on as well. The only thing I find with this foundation is that there is quite a big difference between the shades. I bought shade 115 but that was too light, so I asked for the one the next darkest shade, and that made me look too dark; there was quite an obvious difference between my face and my neck. I don't suffer from acne but I do get a few spots quite often, so this foundation was very good for me because it gives you a very thick coverage. As long as you take it off every night, your skin won't suffer. It will last you a good 6 months as you don't need to use that much of it.

Fantastic foundation. I bought the colour 200 and did not need to put a concealer underneath. I suffer with rosacea and broken capillaries my face is so sensitive that even when I touch it, it can hurt. This goes on smooth with full coverage causes no break-outs, my skin loves it. Highly recommend this foundation if you are unfortunate enough to have problems with your skin like me. The coverage is full and flawless. Would give it a 10/10 if I could. My skin colour is light medium with redness. Give it a go, some people may find this a bit too thick, but it spreads easily and lasts all day.

Holy moly this stuff is thick and pigmented! I only need a very small amount to achieve full coverage. This stuff is very heavy, and I really don't reach for it very often because of that. I've used it with a pump of my moisturizer (Clinique DDMG) to sheer it out, and it does work well like that.

I bought this years ago while looking for a foundation for my very pale skin, and the lighest shade (Not White, I don't recall the shade name and it's not on the bottle) worked for my warm toned, very pale skin.

I still use this occasionally, but over the years, I've learned to HATE heavy feeling products on my skin.

I recently bought this foundation after seeing a few online tutorials of it being used by all women of different shades. I have started to think in terms of general product reviews. So I got a mixed reviews and decided to gamble...I won't say I am hugely disappointed because the product in general was good. The packaging is OK, considering the product is thick consistency. The price is what I would expect for this brand which is close to MAC pricing for the same amount. The way it went on was wonderful, never before have I experienced a quick drying foundation that I did not have to set with powder. It went on like a dream. I did not experience any blotchy patches. I used this after my Clarisonic Mia, toner, sunscreen and moisturiser, followed by primer. I did note that this foundation did seem to highlight a few of my blemishes. The real problem was the products color. What is described online as being neutral is actually warm tone. This foundation was so orange on me, to noticeable to be worn in public. I am on the neutral side with a hint of yellow in the under eye, cheek area. Sadly to say, I had to put this up for swap.

This is a REALLY full coverage foundation, however it leaves you looking oily and easily falls off your face, it couldn't stay on for more than 2 hours without something needing blending or having to put some sort of powder on or oder for it to stay.

The lady that put this on me give me a really light shade which I bought for some reason! It makes you look flawless for about 10 minutes, as soon as I got to the toilet after it had started to look patchy on my chin around my dry skin.

It's so sheer that it makes you look very oily unless powdered down,
So you end up looking totally matte from all the powder anyway so defeats the point of the foundation

I wouldn't buy this again, not a nice foundation for me.

The worst foundation I have ever used, and I normally get on great with long-wearing, full-coverage foundations! The formula is far too thick, near enough impossible to blend properly on skin either with fingers or a brush and it did NOTHING to help control the oil around my T-Zone. I noticed, to my horror that 2 hours after application it would be sliding around my face in an oily mess. So glad I never paid full price for this awful foundation, after 3 uses it ended up in the bin!

This foundation is only meant for people wanting full coverage foundation. The secret to this foundation is to blend it into your skin for a long time and it will reveal a perfect complexion. I've had oily and acne prone skin for a long time. I had bought every foundation out there. It was so bad that the makeup consultants would tell me they would see me the next day. Anyway, you have to moisturize you skin or use a good primer to blend into your skin. At first it will look blotchy, that just means blend, blend, blend... I do this and then afterwards I use the Illamasqua powder foundation in the same color and it seals is very well. I don't have to blot my face as much. I was one of those people that would hear someone say that they barely had to do touchups, but I just so happened to be the one that had to touch up all the time. Please try it... It is thick but if you want the flawless look know how to blend and use a quality brush and not your fingers. I use the airbrush brush from sephora... beautiful!

The product is too thick and clogs the needlenose opening. It won't spread or blend at all, and dries down way too fast. It makes my dryness look even more exaggerated than it does naturally, something I didn't think possible. It separates in the tube, but is too thick to mix by shaking, so I get nasty foundation-water the first squeeze and a thick blob the next. It's awful. Will not repurchase.

I have had no end of trouble trying to find my colour in this product, and that is why it is only getting a 3. The colours are absolutely fantastic for paler shades, and there are tonnes of reviews from paler girls on here who love it for that reason! For me though, I'm an NC30-35 and there isn't a shade which is perfect. I've looked at heaps of swatches, and also tried to shade match in-store.

I've considered using a darker shade to darken my BB creams though, and for that I think it'll be perfect. I know a lot of members do the same with the white shade in the RF, to lighten darker fdtns. It will also give more coverage to the mixing product.

I have the RF233 and it is just a tad too apricot for me, it isn't yellow/brown enough and just too apricot. The next yellow shade down is too pale.

I've given it 2 for price, because it is about the same price as most fdtns but you use a tiny tiny bit. So it is better value overall.
As for packaging, I think the packaging is perfect for the product that it is. Its too thick for a pump and would be disgustingly unhygenic in a tub! The container itself has a small narrow nozzle so you squeeze out just as much as you want.

Now onto the texture :) A lot of bloggers have described it as thick, weird, etc I liken it to Promite, if you eat that product, or the MAC Tinted Lip Conditioner. It is thick and sticky and sticks to itself. Can be quite stubborn and hard to blend (the opposite of creamy) - it sorta wants to stay where it is! I have heard ppl say its buildable - I find that if you layer over an existing layer, it doesn't look that great.

I apply it so it looks natural for daytime, with a damp beauty blender. It looks fine, not cakey, and on my combo skin it looks natural and lasts all day, even without primer or setting spray. There is a small amount of cracking on the oilier areas but that could easily be fixed with primer/setting spray.

I don't powder it because I like a natural finish. I don't think it needs it either because the finish is a soft natural matte, and doesn't feel oily when I touch my face at the end of the day! Powder blush works great with it, but cream blush sorta takes the fdtn away a bit, have to use a very light hand.

Overall, as much as I like this, I can't buy it again because of the colour issue. *EDIT I may buy this in the lighter colour as a contour shade.

More about me:

Was acne-prone for years

I researched this foundation more then any other I've ever gotten, purely because of colour reasons, as I'm extremely pale and can never find a match! There is no illamasqua near me (that I'm aware of) so I decided to buy online, after all my research I decided on shade 115. If you are pale, very pale, this is AMAZING!! I've never seen a foundation as pale! It may even be a shade too pale for me! But I have so many other darker foundations I can mix it with to even it out :)
That being said, when you mix this foundation it doesn't lose any coverage or pigmentation.
On me it's medium to full coverage, leaning more to the full side but some freckles are still visible through it :)
I had read that this foundation can be very drying, for me, this isn't really the case! Except for around my nose but sure that's always dry and red.
I have fairly normal skin except for my nose and the odd day when my forehead gets the tiniest bit oily. The lasting power of this foundation isn't exactly amazing and can settle into some lines on your face (I haven't noticed this under my eyes though).
I'm still playing around with it and finding the best ways to apply it and what primers do it justice. But all in all I'll be pretty forgiving of minor things because of how close the colour is to my skin.
I personally really like the packaging, I know others don't! I like that its quite simple and really easy to get product out.

I was so exited to get this product as I thought it would be amazing looking at the price of it. This is like a very thick concealer formula. This goes on very heavy and its a little hard to blend. My shade is 150 which is a too light for my skin so i have to bronze over it. With or without a primer and moisturiser it settles into fine lines and creases around my forehead. The coverage is the thickest and richest I have ever tried but just after like an hour you end up looking like the biggest cake face ever! I also hate the finish it gives, it makes my skin look very unhealthy, dull and extremely dry and matte even though my skin is very oily. It tends to turn really weird around where i get oily, almost like making my pores look deeper in a way. I really don't think that this foundation is worth the money especially for people who don't even need that much coverage anyway. I've tried applying this every way possible but nothing just seems to works! I've tried applying with my fingers but no it ends up looking cakey and too heavy, with a damp sponge it looks very uneven and not blended very well, and with a brush it just wont blend at all and can really drive you crazy. Right now with what I have left i sometimes use as a concealer or for halloween. Packaging is very nice though, handy, small and pretty strong. Good luck guys!x

So I finally got my Illamasqua fdt. I tried it on today, a very hot day. I just put it on over Bliss' Best of Skintentions Moisturizer.
First, the color: #140 is ok, but still a bit light, even though I am far from dark. If you are, like me, an average light to medium, I'd advise you to start at #140. Any shade below that is too light, unless you are going for the "morgue chic" look, or you lost the battle with that vampire, or you are completely melanin deficient.
The texture is thick. Although I used a moisturizer, I had to do quite a bit of blending (with my fingers) before it looked good. Also, if you have skin texture issues, be careful with this. I does accentuate fine lines (though not pores). Even w/o powder, it looks a bit dry, but I have no problem with that since my skin is oily and I'm sure the dry look will not last too long.
Coverage is full to total. Again, I have no problem with that because I'm a full-coverage gal.
I think that mixing this fdt with a moisturizer, or a highlighter, or even another foundation, would make it look better.
All in all, I'm not displeased with this foundation, although Mind you, I am NOT saying this is a bad product. It just did not turn out to be as good for me as for others.

I mix this foundation (#105) with my other foundations to get the right color and it works alright. Since I have such fair skin I use it to lighten most other foundations which are too dark for me. As others have said, this is not the best for dry skin because it shows the dry spots and makes it look worse. I have dry skin and have had this problem even after heavily moisturizing. If you use too much of this product it can easily look "chalky". The foundation is liquid but very heavy and thick. It's full coverage for sure. I suggest if using it for mixing to be sure the other foundation is a very thin, light coverage one. Otherwise two full coverage foundations will look very "cakey". For the small size and considering its a cheap plastic container with plastic cover, I think it's definitely overpriced. It works pretty well and it's hard to find a good white foundation so I would buy this again. But i'm not in love.

This foundation offers seriously heavy coverage - a tiny amount goes a very long way. However I find that by lunchtime it is literally slipping off my face - and I dont have particularly oily skin. It sinks into every fine line and clings to dry patches and blemishes. Powder also tends to go cakey over the top of it.

So best avoided if you have oily/combination skin.

Also, as usual with Illamasqua, the packaging feels cheap - the label wore off within a week. It does have a small nozzle which makes it easy to squeeze out the right amount though so I guess that is one plus.

Blends the best over Too Faced primed and pore less original formula( not oil free) Use a flat top sigma brand sigmax kabuki brush. The best foundation brush ever! Little goes along way. If you use too much you will hate it bad. Put a little on the back of your hand and stipple it on one cheek and round circle buff section then repeat. Dries very fast. Fills in every crack and pore. Marvelous coverage, makes you look perfect in photos. Does get a little cakey after 4 hours of normal working day, not a makeup to wear in sweaty outside heat, your face will melt off and look like a zombie. Dainty Doll foundation is great for outside sweaty days. Not illamasqua foundations.

Trouble blending- lost lippies
Perfect color for pale yellowy types like me. Tried so many other foundations most too peachy causing a mask look.
Wonderful clay kinda feel to application, love the thick texture

This bottle will last my whole life.!

Age: 18 & Under   Skin: Combination, Fair, Warm   Hair: Red, Wavy, Medium   Eyes: Blue

This foundation comes in a plastic tube and a black screw cap, and it has a small pipe making it easy to get the right amount, which is a surprisingly small amount as it is very full coverage.
This is also very thick for being a liquid, similar to a somewhat thick body lotion. I find this hard to work with due to the thickness and the fact that it dries very quickly.

My advice is to try a damp sponge or a buffing brush and work one area of the face at a time to get the best results.
Once on the face it dries to a matte finish that accentatues every flaw, and you will notice dry patches that you did not even know you had. It also feels very heavy and thick.
I don't recommend using a powder over this due to the already very matte and dry finish.

The colours are one of the good things, as it has some very dark and some very fair shades, even a white shade. I got this in white to blend in to other foundations, which it works very good for. I also got this in RF 115, which is very much paler and less yellow than NC15.

This also smells strongly of vanilla which can give some people headaches. Gave me acne too.

SUMMARY:
- Accentuates even the tiniest flaws and all dry patches, making you look flakey, cakey and dry. Matte finish. Powder makes it worse.
- Comes in a minimalistic plastic tube. Easy to get the right amount with the small pipe.
- Best application with a buffing brush or damp sponge.
- Dries fast on your face.
- Consistency similar to a thick body lotion.
- Very full coverage and very thick consistency for being a liquid.
- Best used as a concealer for spots or under eyes, NOT the whole face.
- Very good for making other foundations paler without losing the coverage.
- Palest shade except white is very much paler than NC15. For reference I would say NC05.
- 30 ml or 1 oz.
- Many shades for very pale and very dark people. Also comes in white.
- Smells strongly of vanilla, similar to MAC lipsticks.

2/5 because it can work as a concealer, it has a good shade range and a good bottle.
