i really like this primer however i may not repurchase because as many others have mentinoed this leaves a white cast on your face. I honestly didn't notice it because I loved the texture and finish of this primer. I used both version 'fraiche' and 'tendre' (i much preferred 'tendre' because i like that dewy/moisturized look/feel). I used to wear this on its own without any foundation on top because it evened out my skintone while providing me with the spf I needed. It was a very easy and quick, low maintenance product for me until two separate people on two separate days, told me that my face looked pasty white when compared to my neck/rest of my body. That was a deal breaker for me. The only reason I'm not repurchasing is beacuse I'm too lazy to add foundation on top of this. Otherwise a superb primer. Much better than other primers out there.

Mine is a different version from Japan. So it says "voile unifiant" (instead of "fraiche") which is for concealing of pores. I've used several makeup bases before and I think this is the best I've used so far. This is a rather heavily fragranced product. It does smells strange to me (like a very old type of floral fragrance?? ) but I can get past it 'cos the smell disappears quickly upon application.
Only a little bit is needed so thankfully the tube will last me a long time. Pores are covered and my make-up stays fresh for a long time - which is great as I work in a non air-conditioned environment! At the end of the day, when I remove my makeup with wipes, I can see lots of foundation on the wipe which means my makeup hasn't mysteriously evaporated throughout the day :-P I do not have oily skin so I cannot comment on the oil-controlling properties.
I love this despite the crazy price tag and see myself repurchasing when my current tube runs out. It's worth every cent.

This is an absolutely useless overly expensive primer. If you apply a moisturizer with SPF or foundation with SPF then you absolutely do not need this product, especially if you have oily skin. It leaves a white cast which is hard to get rid of. It does not make the face brighter but whiter as if you painted yourself with white chalk.

I almost didin't buy this because I thought the salesgirl was just trying to up sell to me when I bought my cle de peau foundation (which I also love). She gave me a sample to try and it was amazing and made such a difference to my make up. It gives my makeup great staying power and gives me a great complexion. Would definitely purchase again.

I recently purchased this in the fraiche version, for normal to oily skins, I love how it evens out my skintone and my foundation if I choose to use any goes on seamless. I will never be without this, and have just placed an order for a second tube as I would hate to be without.

My review is for the smoothing base for pores (fraiche). I'm now onto my second tube of this. This provides for a smooth canvas for your foundation application. The foundation goes on smoother and you need less product to cover the whole face. It helps with oil control and lets your make up stay on longer. The price is very high but the tube lasts me about 6-7 months. I've tried to switch to other cheaper products but after a couple failures, I decided to stick to this product. Better spend my money on worthy product than to waste on junk...

Before I used Base Lissante I used a similar product from Lancome that was discontinued :( Some reviews don't like the whiteness that Base Lissante gives, but that is exactly what I want, it evens out my skintone and blends in before fading away. It makes my foundation last longer and doesn't feel heavy.
I bought a tube last year, probably over six months ago and it's still only half full (and I use it every day), so it's pricey but a little goes a long way. The only drawback for me is that I haven't found any internet store in Europe that stocks it, so I have to buy it from the US.

I really wanna say that I love it, but the truth is it doesn't work well with me, because it's too white for my yellow-olive undertone. Even after my skin absorbs it, I still look like a geisha.
Except the color, It's a great product from CdP. It can cover tiny imperfections like pores and scars, and make my skin bright and glowing natrually.I feel fresh (I used fraiche) but not dry all day, better than those oil-control base which make me lines visible. The smell is not so pleasant. It's hard to spread over my face, so I always used too much. It's too expensive, but compare with other products from CdP, it offers the highest cost performance.
Because of the color, I have to used other deep shape fdn to adjust my geisha-like complexion, maybe next time I will try to mix it with moisure emulsion to make it thinner and less white.

I bought this in base de teint (fraiche), a smoothing base for pores. Their other formulation, tendre, is for fine lines. The fraiche one helps my foundation glide on more smoothly. It leaves a whitish cast that disappears with a light hand and some massage. This is due to the titanium oxide, SPF 22. I will use this for special occasions or simply alone without foundation. The SA used a foundation brush to apply this primer prior to the foundation.

i use fraiche. my foundation (i use Px) goes on really smoothly after using this. although too much will leave the face looking white and scary. ^ ^; oil control isn't very good for me. but it manages to neutralise my red cheeks/nose area quite well.

I've been using this for a few days in Fraiche version. I find that this works best with CdP foundations/powders and with my Sisley oil-free fdn too but does not work as great with other brands even with it's sister shiseido.
Only need to apply little amount or else fdn will look masky, sometimes I wonder whether it's spf 22 protection is still intact in that amount. And since this is a little whitish and opaque on the face, I also find that this works great with pressed/loose powders alone especially those with a little more pigment like La Mer and Clarins p/p.
EDIT: August 2008: I picked up this product again the last time my skin was freaking out. This product is soothing on my skin and did not further aggravate any sensitivities I had. I find that my skin post-washing is very very clean and smooth with regular use. And as a primer, it gives me just enough luminosity to be perfectly natural. It still is hard to spread anything on top of this, powder-type finishing is the only ideal way to go with this.

The SA gave me a couple of this sample with my purchase of CdP cream foundation. The foundation is the best, but required more time to apply. But if you mix equal part of this primer with the foundation , you can just smooth the mixture on rather causally without worrying about streaking. I even mix a ratio of 2:1 of primer to foundation for a much sheer look. 3-4 drops is all I use, too much will have an adverse effect. I wouldn't rely on this product as a sunscreen since I only use so little.

This is a good primer, I have it in "Fresh" as I have oily skin, it does at first look very white on my NC 20 skin but once I apply the CDP creme foundation in 010 it leaves a very nice look and my foundation stays put all day. This has really helped my foundation last which I have never had with any other primer before. Another excellent product from CDP!

If you've read my reviews, you will know I am a major primer devotee aka addict! I keep trying them ALL. As of now, THIS is my newest, latest and greatest favorite!!!! It's a bit more moisturizing than, but similar to, Smoothing Veil, also by Shisheido (I prefer C de P's tube over Veil's jar). C de P Tendre (gentle, smoothing pre-makeup emulsion) is my "IT" primer of the moment! I like it better than the others because it gives my dry skin THE most amazing, smooth, glowing, lineless and wonderfully hydrated finish (with SPF 20) and the effect really lasts a long, long time! I like the packaging, the feel and the icy pale whitish color that evens out my skin tone. This product works beautifully under every type of foundation (cream, liquid and even mineral powder). As a prior reviewer noted, this is a bit thicker than most primers and has to be well blended, but its heavier texture actually makes it a more effective "cushiony" base that doubles as a line filler, too...all in one product. This primer does a lot to create a really gorgeous, flawless makeup, even at my age. I LOVE it and I will rebuy!

Expensive primer (at $70) but excellent that it has SPF 22 in it. Texture feels pretty thick to me but did not cause any sensitive reaction on my skin. It's not the easiest primer to spread over the face but still better than some other primers I've tried. It keeps my foundation in place all day long and somewhat keeps my skin hydrated. I'll come back to this Cle de Peau primer, if I cannot find a better product.

i was given a sample of this base and didn't expect much since i have tried similar products from some other prestigious brands (armani, RMK, laura mercier) but the bases didn't seem to do much for me. however, this one is amazing! in fact as in previous reviews this base could well act as the foundation itself and with the sunscreen it's just as good as it gets. the only thing is that my t zone gets oily after a few hours but i guess it's just me cuz i have oily/ combo skin and live in a humid weather. otherwise i should be fine.

I love this! This is so far the best makeup base i've used. At first i thought it's really white when i put it on my face but then it turns out great after the skin absorbs it. It's perfect for those who doesnt wanna use the foundation. I sometimes use this alone with loose powder and it works fine. Althought the price is a bit steep but it's worth every penny. It wont turn ur skin dull after a long day at work. Definately purchase this again!

This is a thick, gummy white primer in a squeezy tube. Even though I'm pale, I notice the pronounced white cast even a little of this leaves on my skin. Nevertheless, it's an excellent base for make up, if not quite as mattifying or line-blurring as some others, and really helps foundation to go on more smoothly and evenly.

I use this every single day I'm too busy with the boys to put any makeup on. Just the other day one of the moms in our playgroup commented on how glowing my skin was, so I told her, "yes that's what being pregnant does to you". But she surprised me when she said "No, I noticed how much your skin's been glowing since last Christmas. Who is your surgeon?" When I got home, I realised it was the same time when I started using this primer. Enough said.

this is the "gentle" smoothing pre-makeup emulsion SPF 19. I haven't tried the "fresh" version yet though I have oily skin. It's the best primer I have ever tried, all other primers seems to do nothing. It does what its name says , smooooooothing ( cover up pores, redness) which I can skip my clinique pore minimizer all together. After this primer, I just blot on armani press powder and this primer hold the powder so good that I even skip my armani liquid foundation. After all, I got a better -looking skin complexion without the full make-up look! Definately gotta to repurchase it.
