I was shopping at the make up counters today, and stopped by Smashbox. I have been on the hunt for a *perfect* smokey eye trio and I think I have finally found it. The Make-up Artist. At Smashbox told me that the great thing about their eyeshadows, is that they have anti-microbial properties, so if you want to use them wet, you won't have to worry about breeding bacteria (yuck!). As far as the shadows go, there is a light, almost metallic off white/ beige, a a mid-tone, slightly metallic, cool gray, and a glittery black. The black does produce a little fall out when applied, but it blends like a dream. The gray is absolutely gorgeous if you just wanted to smudge on the upper and lower lashlines for a "slept in" look. And the beige is beautiful on the inner corner and browbone. It comes with an applicator and mirror inside the compact, the applicator has an angled liner brush on one end, and a sponge/ smudger on the other end. Over all, beautiful trio and I will definitely repurchase over and over!

This set makes creating an amazing smokey eye. I tried this during a Smashbox makeup class through Nordstrom and was surprised that it was so much easier to use that other smokey eye sets I've tried--before I thought I'd never get the hang of the smokey eye. The lightest color was an all over color, then they taught me to use the Smashbox #10 eye crease brush to "roll" the medium gray into the outer crease and eyelid, then finally liner brush to line with the black shadow (wetting the liner brush first). Beautiful, sultry smokey eye!

A great palette for a smokey, neutral eye. The gold, lightest shade is a bit average and "meh", but the medium and dark shades are gorge. Super-blendable, like all of Smashbox's shadows.

i am not a fan of palettes because I usually don't like all of the colors in the palette. However, smokebox is an exception (i love every single shade). Smokebox includes a highlighting shade for your brow bone, a perfect neutral brown-based taupe and a black with subtle shimmers. The color combination is perfect for creating that natural smoky eye that Rachel Bilson always wears and which I have been looking for for a while now. Very happy about the purchase. Only peeve is the applicator that comes with the compact. It doesn't have an eyeshadow end, only an eyeliner and a smudger end.

I totally and completely love this trio! It is so amazing. It comes in the signature black palette that Smashbox is known for. Personally, I have never really liked this style palette because it is hard to keep it clean, but, the product inside is fantastic so I wont complain too much about the packaging.
The trio has a light beige-ish shadow; a taupe shadow and a black shadow with slight glitter that appears silvery-blue to me. The shadows are very pigmented and they blend amazingly well. I use the taupe all over the lid and apply the lightest shadow in the inner 'v'. The black shadow is used in the outer 'v' and to line. The results are GORGEOUS!! I get so many complients when I wear this combo. I know its vain, but even I cannot stop staring at my eyes when I wear this. I love it so much. I would purchase this palette again and again if I ever ran out. Its AMAZING!!!
