I'm not ready to go completely silver yet. So, until that day, I'm covering up the grays between salon color. I thought this would be a great product to do it, but resisted because of the USD$23 price tag. I spotted a twin pack, in my color yet, in the clearance bin at Ulta for $15.99 (iow, $8 each!), so I gave it a shot.
Pros: The color is believable. My color is Warm Reddish Brown.
--The pen is lightweight and doesn't spill.
--It's not a dye, so it washes right out. It come out of the tube as a fairly thick cream.
--It doesn't stain skin. Can't say whether it stains fabric, as I haven't made an oops yet.
Cons: The brush is too narrow. It's about the size of a nail polish brush. For micro-touchups, that's great, but for serious root coverup it's a bit too surgical.
--Because basically, I'm putting pigment on at the roots, my hair needs to be washed sooner and more frequently.
--The retail price.
I'd give it more stars if the brush were broader. But overall, it's come in handy between salon appointments and the color is perfect for me. Until I go completely, proudly silver!

I bought the Oscar Blandi pen to give myself some subtle highlights; I have light brown hair and I bought the reddish brown shade. I thought it was really easy to use, I just free-handed it the way I wanted (I felt pretty confident since the colour is similar to my own) and now my hair has a lot more dimension. I bought this from the Canadian site ebeauty.ca for $25 (and free shipping): http://bit.ly/pa2gKd. Obviously more economical than salon visits, and just a bit more expensive than drugstore brands for what I think it a lot better quality.

HG, HG for sure. My hair turned out too dark the last time we did it. Rather than beat up my hair, I opted to try this highlighting pen. I love this thing. It has given me back the highlights that were covered up and they are truly creamy beige. Bravo, Oscar Blandi. I love his silk polishing creme too.

I bought the brown color, when my job had me in a hotel room, and I was 3 weeks late getting my hair colored. My hair is colored brown, but comes in grey. I despise the grey. I had packed Xfusion, and found it to be disastrous. I went into Sephora's, and bought this pen.
It has become a godsend, and my favorite TG item. I can go a couple of weeks or more, without getting my hair colors, if I treat my hair correctly, I don't have much color loss from shampoo. It just takes a minimal dot, and I comb it through. Not messy at all, stays on, until I wash my hair.Totally blends in my roots. Actually, I've been able to not color it as often, with this pen.
I have a feather extension, so I'm carrying out this color as long as I can, so I can keep my feather in my hair. I will never be without my Blandi pen. It's a great product that works.

It's packaged like a Stila gloss rather than a mascara. Twirl the bottom and up comes the goop onto the applicator. I used the Light Golden Blonde, and it was perfect to cover my roots, including about my ooogly 20% grays.
It is to be used on dry hair. Once applied, let it dry for 5 min and you are set. It holds freat until washed out.
I bought it because I hadn't know that my hair dresser is on vacation, and I was seriously in need of help. This has held me over for an extra 2 weeks with confidence. FYI, I typically get a full head of color and occasional highlights.
I will DEFINATELY purchase again in order to extend my time between color appointments. I LOVE my hair dresser, but need to save $$ !

This is a new root touch up hair "paint" from Oscar Blandi. It comes in five shades from pale beige to dark brown/black. The tube is a twist top highlighter style pen which dispenses the liquid product into a little brush at the end of the pen (ala YSL Touche Eclat). Once you've dispersed a very small amount of product onto the brush, you literally paint it on to the areas of dry hair you want to cover. It is VERY effective and long lasting as a gray cover in the darkest shade (I have not tried any of the paler shades for highlighting yet). This can be a bit messy if you dispense too much product. The packaging also warns it can stain your scalp or clothing when wet so you must wait for it to dry for several minutes before touching or combing...so I only gave it 4 lippies. However, once applied carefully and it's completely dried, it really covers well, doesn't feel sticky, doesn't flake or smudge and looks very natural, that part deserves 5 lippies. It stays on perfectly until you shampoo it out. This definitely takes more time and work than my usual hair mascaras, but it also gives a more even, professional result. If you have the time and the patience to follow the detailed directions, this is worth the hassle and does a great job covering serious gray root grow out between colorings.
