This is a very good silver shampoo!
I have blonde, coloured hair and it easily gets yellowish, so I use silver shampoo once a week. Matrix“s shampoo is the best cheap silver shampoo (ca. 9e) I“ve tried. It“s very effective and it doesn“t make the hair lilac, like some others do. It simply takes away the yellow tones and gives a hint of silver shine.
Unfortunately it dries the hair out, like all the silver shampoos.

IT FRIED MY HAIR~!!!!!! DONT USE IT!!!!!
-i have slightly damaged hair from medical conditions and testing along with coloring but u wouldn't believe what anastesia and cat scan injection does to your hair!!! so i have been babying it since january no color no highlights and no flat iron and random blow dry. it was finally in much much better condition had no more fried ends and had finally got most of the damage cut.. well i went on vacation with my mother and forgot my shimmer lights shampoo at home that i have been using to help lighten my dirty blonde roots and blend my hair (witch works great by the way!)
so i used her purple shampoo witch was this brand i thought it might be better being matrix. How wrong i was!
IT FRIED MY HAIR~!!!!!! DONT USE IT!!!!!
i could not believe my eyes when i got out of the shower! despite deep conditioning afterword it split my hair about four or more inches up! and i wish i knew that it was the shampoo i assumed it was her blow dryer! because it was a cheapy one i never once thought of shampoo because i have never seen anything like this!!! made my hair so damaged!! everywhere! and it fell out in chunks! also extremely tangling and drying! i would sue them if i could! im serious this stuff is crap i might as well put bleach on my hair five times all over thats what it looks like! i only realized it was this shampoo indeed after making the mistake of using it again at my mothers home recently and was landed with fried ends again that i recently cut a month ago from previous damage from this same shampoo! and i now need a hair cut again! this is ridiculous! it doesn't state any where on the bottle to not use on certain hair types or be aware of damage. worst hair product i have ever used. shimmer lights is conditioning even the off brand gvp one at sallys and never has damaged my hair ever!

I had brown hair dyed blond and it was great for taking out any brassy tones and continued to keep my hair tones blond rather than yellow.

My hair is a dirty blonde and in the summer it turns to a really pretty glossy liquid gold color, but I didnt want to wait for it to lighten up again I wanted a more sun kissed blonde so I tried it. I used it twice a week and it was really pretty... the first week and a half. Now it's kinda nasty, it's a dry blonde shade with almost mousy brown and gray highlights. It looks terrible! Even my dad mentioned it! My dad doesnt notice anything. I was extreamly upset, I've used many Matrix products before and I've fallen in love with all of them. But this one I won't be using again.

This is probably one of my favorite hair product finds ever! I originally started using it when my hair was brown and I had blonde highlights throughout to brighten up the blonde when they would start to fade, and it worked great! Now my hair is pretty much all blonde and this shampoo is a lifesaver. You know when your hair starts looking dull and your itching to go drop money at the hairdressor to brighten your look back up? If you go through that this is for you. It instantly brightens everything back up and buys me more time in between my highlights. I could not live with out this stuff! It smells great and leaves my hair soft, wonderful product!!!

This product is absolutely fantastic. I recently dyed my hair about a month ago quite a platinum blonde from my dirty/dark blonde natural colour (although it hasn't been the blonde I've wanted despite the hairdressers putting a toner on it). Yesterday, I went to the salon because I wanted to get rid of the brassy/yellowy colour because I think it makes me look cheap and tacky. Anyway the hairdresser said I shouldn't spend £30 on just having a toner when I could buy some purple shampoo and use that. SO, I bought this shampoo and used it last night. Even when I washed it out and it was wet I could see a difference.
I've just woken up and seen the results and I am so happy. This is the exact blonde I have been wanting! It's completely got rid of the yellow colour on just my first go. I hardly used much. I used about a coin sixe and lathered it in and left for about 10 minutes. A lot of people are saying it leaves your hair really dry and smells bad but I completely covered my hair in conditioner and left it in for about 20 mins to make sure I had none of these problems. I honestly can't smell it and my hair is really soft. I absolutely reccommend this product. Worth the money, I wouldn't even mind paying double the price for a product like this.

This is my favorite shampoo, ever. It makes my blonde so bright, shiny, and leaves it with no brassiness. It isn't moisturizing, but it doesn't strip my hair of its moisture. It's really concentrated, so you don't have to use much. I shampoo with it at least twice a week, leaving it in for about 5 minutes. It's smells nice and clean, and I've had the same bottle for over a year and a half. I like that it is gentle, and that it doesn't have any silicones, unlike so many purple shampoos. I will repurchase this for the rest of my life and I highly recommend.

When I had blonde hair, I couldn't live without this stuff. Only thing though is it toned down some of my brassiness & not all of it. So sometimes parts of my hair was white while the other is yellow. It was still nice though.
It did dry out my hair a bit is my complaint.
It's pricey, well in my opinion anywhere else besides Cosmoprof.

I just used this shampoo last night and was VERY surprised. One wash and did exactly what the directions said to do and it worked!!
I am very happy with the results. I had very yellow brassy colored hair and the shampoo took that out and in just one wash I could tell a big change. The smell is not bad. Alot of people said it dried their hair out, I just made sure I conditioned it very good. Very happy. Love it!!

This is the WORST product I've ever used. I have shoulder length pale blonde hair that is slightly damaged because of the bleaching and high ligting. This shampoo ruined my hair! It removed all moisture I had and made it even more damaged. I used the whole bottle because I hate wasting product.
There are better products for a cheaper price! Clairol shimmer lights shampoo and conditioner is much better as well as redken sensories bright shampoo. Bumble and bumble makes a good violet product line, but its more expensive. (I'm in beauty school and work in a high end salon)

This does work really well. The results are noticeable after each use. Everyone always asks if I've lightened my hair again, but it's just somewhat toned from the shampoo. Sometimes, I leave on way longer than suggested - like a mask, and it seems to work even better

I don't mean to add on to the rest of the reviews, but i Love this Shampoo!. It has all the qualities of other purple/silver shampoos combined it seems like to me. It works just within one use the way shimmer lights shampoo does, It whitens my already white hair, and lathers up well, withjust a dime size amount in the hand, the same way the schwarzkopf bonacure color save silver shampoo does!. It is drying a bit though, like clairol shimmerlights. But!, it's not expensive at all for the big bottle that you get. In my personal opinion, this is the best Silver shampoo, and you get more bang for your buck with this one!. I most definately will repurchase again!!.

This is the best bang for your buck if you're looking for an effective purple shampoo. This shampoo works just as well as the more expensive brands (L'Oreal/Artic Professional). This bottle has about 5 more ounces than most of the other brands that only give you a small amount in each bottle (8 oz or less) so you end up spending more in the long run.
And this stuff really works! Only use 1-2 times a week. I love to use this right after I get professional highlights to tone down the bright blonde that always occurs in those first few days. Then I just use it weekly for maintenance. Love, love, love it. I will buy Matrix over the other brands I've tried in the past.

My new favourite silver shampoo! I've tried De Lorenzo which was fine but didn't have same results as this product. Sometimes I find it hard to lather because it needs to be mixed with just the right amount of water, however alot of the other products simply don't lather at all. AND it smells great in comparison to others also.

Take it from someone who has had her hair color turn brassy no matter what, this shampoo works! I get blonde and butterscotch colored highlights every 3 or 4 months or so and this is so helpful in keeping my hair from turning that awful brass tone. (I have my stylist add a toner to my hair to keep this from happening, as well, but I know the shampoo helps!) It's not a drugstore product price, but it's definitely work it for light colored hair gals who have hair that easily turns brassy.

Hands down the best purple shampoo out there. It doesn't leave a weird film on your hair like shimmer lights, and has a nice smell. It lathers well, and actually cleans your hair. Really helps with brassy tones and I will repurchase!

What a find! I've been looking for a purple shampoo to maintain my highlights. The problem is that most of them (Clairol ShimmerLights, John Frieda) contain Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, which should be avoided because it's too harsh and drying. The ones that don't are either very pricey (B&B and Aveda) or they smell awful (Aveda). Now So Silver by Matrix is a gentle shampoo that contains no harsh sulfates. It also doesn't contain any unnecessary ingredients that will cause build up. On top of that, you get a big bottle for a fair price and it smells divine to boot! I use this shampoo every few days, and it does what it's supposed to - keep the brassiness at bay. Due to the lack of SLS it doesn't lather much, but if you do the old lather-rinse-repeat, you get a good lather on the second go round. All in all, HG all the way :o)

Good schampoo, does what it promises in keeping yellow tones away, not to drying and lasts forever.
It would be a 5 if it didn't smell like bad perfume for men.

I enjoy purple toning shampoos, I have no idea where I would be without them!!! Matrix so silver works very very nicely, but then again, its the only purple toning shampoo i've used, so I can't really compare it to anything. What I do know is that it does it's job very very well, isn't too drying for my hair, and smells very pleasant, although the scent doesn't linger. 1 bottle lasts AGES too. If you are blonde, no matter what shade of blonde you are, this is a great investment. Be careful though, overuse of this product can result in ashyness. Trust me, I would know, I used to be a so silver addict. Will buy this, or another purple toning shampoo once i run out.
PS this smells like heaven
