Very pretty wearable silver with a subtle blue-gold sheen. It's not as loud or metallic as other silvers so it's very easy to wear on a daily basis. Of course the best shades are all LE.

Silverthorn is the only silver/blue toned eyeshadow that I can actually pull off! It has this lovely gold duochrome to it that is the whole reason that I purchased. Once I got it I was a bit disappointed that the gold wasn't more pronounced, but I have to admit that this e/s is a unique little gem! I like to wear it all over the lid with some Cork in the crease to warm it up a bit, Brule as a highlight and BB espresso tightlined along the top lashes. It makes such a subtle contoured effect and really sets off my blue eyes. I love it and will repurchase if I ever run out!

Fantastic shimmery silver eyeshadow with bluish-green undertones! The texture is very smooth, no concerns with fallout, and decently pigmented. Looks amazing paired with some of my favourite blacks, grays, greens, and purples. Versatile as it can be used either to add some drama to a smokey eye and even wearable for daytime looks without looking over done. Definitely a "silver" shadow I would recommend!

this is a very pretty color. would look great with a blue smokey eye (it has a nice blue undertone)....not pigmented as the other mac shadows ...so you have to really dig for some product..other than that, its a very flattering color!

when this product was released (don't even remember now!), I was told by a fellow mua that it was fantastic and that I should buy it asap before it was gone for good (another LE).
I am glad I bought into that hype cause it is a great color for black/grey/smokey eyes or with purples and pinks.

I really enjoy using this- It looks perfect paired with purples/violets and really brightens up my eyes. I received this in a swap- and even though I said yes I would repurchase it, although I do love when I wear it- I don't think it'd be classed as a staple for me! The one I have would last forever- and I would um and arr whether to get it again.
My eyes are Green- I use this on the inner part of my eye, and purples on the outer- I always get complimented on this, and love the way it glides on.

Maybe I just have so many MAC eyeshadows now that I'm becoming more picky. This one is just too sheer. The texture is nice, but there is almost no colour payoff.

My HG grey eyeshadow which I came across in the Rose Romance collection. I own Electra and I found that it is hard to pull off due to its frosty finish. Silver Ring is a little bit too matte for my liking (even though, it has a Veluxe Pearl texture). This baby is very wearable and flattering. It is a very pretty warm silverish grey with greenish and blue flecks. It has a soft texture and just a little bit of shimmer. It is perfect for any makeup looks.

Absolutly beautiful eyeshadow. Paired with white eyeliner on lower rim of eyes it makes you look refreshed no matter what your eye color. Long lasting and just pretty.

Picked this up at the CCO since I had seen pics of it here on MUA and elsewhere and fell in love with it. This is a Veluxe Pearl which is a joy to apply, as are most MAC e/s. It has an almost imperceptible green hue to it, but the beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I put this over Bare Study PP. Then applied Silverthorn to the lid. In the crease I used one of my favs of Merle Norman, "Lava," which is a grayed lavender. On the inner 1/3 of the eye I added some "Phloof" for extra gleam. Then I winged out my slate (MN) cream eyeliner and added some UD Zero pencil. A really beautiful look! The CCO had this for only $10.25. This shadow should be in your arsenal. You cannot go wrong with the basics, such as grays and browns. Next, I will try it with Satin Taupe, and then some of the UD from the BOS II. (for the record I am NW20).

I love this color- it is very unique. It is a cool silvery frost in some lights, but in others I get a golden flash. I have paired it with greys and purples so far. A must have for me. NC20 blue eyes

Such a unique color! This is my favorite out of all the gray eye shadows I have. It's incredibly versatile, I love how it looks with Satin Taupe. For me Silverthorn stood out the most out of the Rose Romance collection. I will be purchasing a backup of this very soon.

This is a great color, love the blue and gold undertones. I am wearing it on the lid with Crystal on the browbone and it is gorgeous. Lasts all day, no creasing, good pigmentation. I plan on getting a backup.

Bittersweet and beautiful 'Silverthorn'. Wow.
An exquisite eyeshadow. I have never tried a product like this before.
It looks grey in the pot but apply to your eye and a glimmering gold shimmers through the subtle silver, like the sun peeking through the clouds on an overcast day.
I thought it would be a very deep stormy grey silver, but it is actually slighty sheer silvergrey with a reflective gold shine.
Very very pretty.
I am wearing a heavy dose of it with MAC's PowerPoint eyeliner 'Engraved' flicked out in the corners and on the lower lash line for a slightly vampy look. The perfect accompaniment for a glass of red wine :-)
I may have to order another one to make sure I never, ever, run out! You will love this eyeshadow.

Okay I can't believe I almost pass out on this. the review before mine pretty much sums up everything I feel for this beautiful shadow. I've always wanted a bluish silver color, in fact that was the first thing I asked the MA when I got my first eyeshadow palette! You can wear it with anything, it has become my fav lid colour. I like to wear this on the lid, shadowy lady in the outer v and then a pale pink highligh on the brow bone. Better buy it before its gone, its truly a unique shade that works for many many colours.

MAC Silverthorn is such a beautiful blue toned silver grey, laced with a warm gold iridescence. It looks gorgeous over Cakeshop Shadestick, bringing out a slight mossy green glow, but it's dominated by the frosty blue silver. The pigmentation is lovely; only a couple of swipes creates the perfect, vibrant colour. I love how Silverthorn looks amazing with pretty much everything. Plummy browns, such as Sable, look wonderful with this, as well as rich, vibrant colours. I've tried this with Shimmermoss layered over Freshwater in the crease, deepening out the two colours with Carbon. This created a gorgeous, intense blue, green look. I've also used this with Carbon, resulting in a sultry smoky eye. But my favourite way to wear this, is using it all over the lid with Satin Taupe in the crease, with classic blue liner on the lower lashline (I used Freshwater deepened slightly with touch of Carbon). This creates a beautiful neutral eye with a twist and a soft pop of colour. It's just such a versatile, unique colour that's a lovely addition to anyone's collection. Who can resist an absolutely beautiful grey silver with a flattering blue undertone, laced with warm gold shimmer? It's just amazing!

I am actually surprised by how much I like this shadow. Definitely my fave E/S of the Rose Romance Collection, and one of my all time MAC faves ever. Silverthorn looks like the lovechild of MAC Clue & Electra. This silvered-taupe-gray Veluxe Pearl shadow looks nice with alot of different colors in the crease, but especially when I pair it with MAC Bronze in the crease and Silverthorn on the lid. Sometimes I put a little Electra or Arctic Grey in the inner corners, but that's really not even necessary. Just Silverthorn & Bronze, with some black liner on top lashline and Bronze shadow as liner on lower lashline, and whatever color I want as a brow highlight. (Sometimes I do Blanc Type, sometimes Yogurt... they all look good with this combo.) This has become one of my favorite looks, and it seems to make my hazel eyes look greener. This is LE, so if you can still buy it, I would highly recommend it! ♥

Since I already own LOTS of silvers/grays, I was going to pass on Silverthorn.
Really.
I was going to be rational, and skip yet another gray eyeshadow. After all, I already own Clue, Arctic Grey, Pincurl, Silver Ring, Nighttrain, Smoke & Diamonds and French Grey.
But, after reading the raves here and on Specktra, I caved, and I'm now glad I'm a MAC wimp, because Silverthorn is great!
MAC bills Silverthorn as: "Mid-tone grey with silver pearl (Frost)."
Well. The "mid-tone grey with silver pearl" part is accurate, but this is not a Frost formula, but a Veluxe Pearl. At least that's how mine is marked, and in my opinion, Silverthorn has all the characteristics of a Veluxe Pearl: good pigmentation, smooth application and good staying power.
It's still too early to tell, but Silverthorn may turn out to be my favorite gray lid shade ever. I'm not seeing the blue, green, pink or gold tones that others have mentioned; to me, Silverthorn looks like a gorgeous but straight-up neutral gray, with some silver shimmer. I am soo pleased that it doesn't have the strong blue cast I'd feared it would. Blue tones don't work on my eyes, but Silverthorn makes my [jade] green eyes "pop." I think it's PERFECT. Silverthorn on the lid, Smoke & Diamonds in the crease and Arctic Grey on browbones and inner corners makes for a terrific softly shimmery neutral gray eye.
Of course, Silverthorn is LE, but it's well worth buying again, if I were to ever run out, which is not likely.
