I had to make an account to say this. I hate this, worst thing I have EVER put in my hair. I recently bleached my hair with raw white-out beyond bleach kit and it was amazing on my hair. Not too damaged or dry. I just wanted something to take a bit of the brassiness out and help mostiruzie it. I read that this is the best shampoo, conditioner for blonde hair. It isn't. It dried my hair out so bad and I figured if I put the conditioner in it might help too. Nope. No such luck. I ran my fingers through my hair and could litterally hear my hair snapping and breaking. My hair was never like this before I put that in my hair. Thank goodness my argan oil helped.

Despite having highlighted my medium brown hair with blonde highlights for most of my adult life, this is my first experience in trying a "color toning" or purple shampoo.
I must say I am quite impressed! I highlight my own hair (see my review on Revlon Frost and Glow) and once in awhile, when I do my roots, they sometimes look a bit brassy as compared with the rest of my highlights. I did my roots on the weekend and found them a bit brassy so used this shampoo for the first time this morning. I didn't do anything special, I just used it as per my regular shampoo and used my regular conditioner with it. The result is subtle but noticeable nonetheless. My roots are definitely less brassy and lean more beige and blend in better with the rest of my hair. I can see how using this a few times after highlighting can truly make a difference. I'm only sorry I didn't understand the use of this shampoo and start using it sooner.

I love this shampoo. I color my hair honey blonde and I dont really mind the golden tones now but I like this for the way it makes my hair feel moisturized and smooth and manageable even before the conditioner. I want to try some other John Frieda products as well now.

Alright, not the best and not the worst but I won't be buying it again. I can use everyday since it isn't too intense, but I prefer using purple shampoo every couple days though so this alone won't do the job as it directs on the bottle.

I decided to try and go back to my naturally blonde hair from a very dark almost black hair. Of course I know it takes time at the salon and am willin to put the time in, after my hairdresser was done I ended up with a lighter brown and some brassy blonde highlights. She suggested I use the salon purple shampoo and conditioner that she ha used to counteract the bras sinead for a few weeks while I waited for my next appt to get the hair to a more desirable blonde color. I decided to try the John Frieda line of purple shampoo and conditioner even after a co worker warned me that it really wasn't very good. Turned out he was right, it really didnt do much except dry my ends out an make my scalp greasy. Next time I will go with the recommended purple shampoos.

I got this item in a swap so I didn't have to pay for it. The packaging is good - tube - for showers. I used it when after I got my hair highlightened again about 2 months ago and it still brings out the highlights. It last a long time because it didn't use it everytime I washed; every other wash. It also says it neutralizes brassiness which I do agree. The only downfall is the scent - it's too manly - if it was foody or fruit - then that would get me hooked.
Overall I rated it 4/5. Thanks for reading!

My hair color is a mousey medium brown that turns blonde in the summer time after being exposed to a lot of sun. I really like the Sheer Blonde Color Renew line for when my hair is in the awkward stage of transitioning from brown to blonde. It can get an orangey auburn look to it and that's when I start to use this stuff. I use this line on a daily basis then use a more pigmented purple shampoo (joico color endure violet shampoo) once a week as a toner. I really appreciate that this line helps keep brass away without completely drying it out. Most purple shampoo's leave my hair feeling super dried out. This one doesn't - I even actually find it to be really moisturizing and it leaves my hair feeling silky soft and healthy. I highly recommend :)

I have medium brown hair with honey and beigey-champagne highlights. I have used purple shampoos from multiple brands before, including Clairol's shimmer lights and Aveda's blue malva. This is by far the worst.
A) It didn't work at all. After leaving it on damp hair for 10 minutes there was NO difference.
B) It completely dried out my hair, even after being followed by a deep conditioning mask from Shiseido.
I am returning this product.
