The product I'm reviewing is the Softsheen Carson Magic Razorless Cream Shave. I'm clarifying this because I'm seeing some reviews in this section on the powder version. I was originally looking for the powder, because of the fantastic reviews I read on here and also on Amazon. I was really looking for the skin conditioning powder version, because I have very fair and sensitive skin, but couldn't find it in any of the stores in my area.

I came across the Razorless Cream Shave at my local Rite Aid. I figured I'd give this a shot, although some of the reviewers on here said it doesn't work as well on them as the powder. However, I figured this version would be easier and less messy than trying to mix up the powder, and also if it didn't work well, I could still try the powder.

It comes in a 6 oz squeeze tube, the same kind of tube like you find many hand and body lotions in. The cost was between $3-4. I can't remember the exact cost because I threw the receipt away. I tried a spot on my leg first (with about a week's growth), to test for reaction. I left it on for about 6 minutes (the directions say 6-9 min). I wiped it off with a warm damp rag, and it was smooth as a whistle, and no reaction after a couple of hours.

Later that night, I decided to be brave and use it "down there". Let me preface by saying that I have naturally blonde, fairly fine hair, but I had about a month's growth so it was pretty hairy down there (Hey, it's winter and I'm single..lol). I have never used another depilatory in that area and I usually shave there. However, shaving down there always leaves me with razor bumps and burn and I always have a hard time getting all the hair, and wind up irritating my skin going over and over it with the razor. I've also tried professional waxing, and it left me with horrible red bumps that made me look like I had some sort of disease, not to mention the pain.

I smeared it on with my hands in kind of a thin layer and let it sit for about 6 minutes. I then got in the shower and just wiped it off with the same rag I used earlier for my leg. I was amazed at the amount of hair that came off. I'd say it removed about 90% of the growth I had. I waited a couple of days and used it again, this time using a thicker layer and leaving it on for 10 minutes. This time, all of it was removed, leaving me smooth and bare. No irritation, no bumps, no pain, just baby soft smooth skin.

The only reason I am taking off a lippie is because of the smell. It STINKS a LOT. It has a very strong and horrible odor, but I am willing to put up with it because of the amazing results. Besides, you only smell it for 10 minutes then you wash it off and it's gone.

I LOVE this stuff and will definitely be using it for as long as they continue to make it.

Nope. Did not work for me AT ALL.

I'm a wax gal but I thought I would give this a whirl for when I can't make it to the spa. Granted, I'm Italian, I have fairly course hair... I would say this removed about 20% of the hair where I applied it.

Boo.

Does a good job at removing majority of hair, but it doesn't remove all of it, a bit of stubble is left. Great thing though it really doesn't irritate the skin-at all. I have pretty sensitive skin and other depilatories always irritate my skin bad and i only leave them on for about 7 mins. with this i left it on for about 10-15 mins and no harm done at all. So i wont repurchase just cause it doesn't remove all the hair and the application is a pain in the butt, its a very messy application.

Okay this did NOT work! I didn't figure it would but by the reviews I had to try it. I would have rated a ZERO but it wouldn't let me.

After dealing with razor bumps my whole life, I finally found the only product that really works. I have very coarse hair and nothing will do it. I spent some much money buying razors (electric and non-electric), hair removal creams that will leave it all "there" , and put myself through the Epilator torture {auch!} for nothing.

I was very skeptical at first but after trying it the first time, I was in love. Needless to say it was a little messy at the beginning but once you get the hang of it you will be doing it in minutes.

BTW - I used it "down there" and I can honestly say I didn't get a rash or any reaction whatsoever. I used the one with the Aloe & Conditioners.

I have to say all your reviews gave me that extra push to go and buy it.. So thank ladies!

I love this stuff as a hair remover!!! It definitely out-performs Veet, Nair and all that mess hands-down. For one thing, it doesn't smell as horrid as the others do. Second, it's dirt cheap!!! For the price, I started to stock up on it, but wasn't quite sure how I would like it. I mainly got it for removing underarm hair and maintaining my bikini line. Veet and Nair was very irritating to my skin and they made me itch. This stuff doesn't irritate me at all. It's easy to remove, either with an old wash cloth you don't really use anymore or a bladeless razor, which I have. I might also mention that I have the formula that's already pre-made and it comes in a tube instead of a can. I heard the stuff in can can be really messy and it will dry out on you, so I opted to get the pre-made cream. The only problem that I had with it is that it took a tad bit longer than I had expected to do it's duty. Other than that, you can't beat the price and it's really good at removing hair under my arms and around my bikini line. And best of all, it doesn't smell horrid or irritate my skin!!! Definitely will buy again.

I purchased this product because after a while my skin would become very irritated when I used Nair, Sally Hansen, and Veet depilatory creams. Not to mention the price keeps going up and up on these products. So I read on some forum that this is a good alternative to shave with. Here are some tips I gather from various postings:
1. Get a dye brush sold at a beauty supply store like Sally's. It will cost about a buck and some change.
2. Get the dye/relaxer bowl. Again at Sally's and will cost about buck and some change.
3. Get a bottle of neutralizing shampoo for relaxers. I use Isoplus because it is cheap and it has a color indicator to let you know if there is a chemical left behind.
3. Get a spray bottle.

So I mixed the powder with water and use the dye brush to get it to a nice consistency, in the dye bowl, then I apply the mixture on my legs. After applying, I use the spray bottle and fill it with water and mist my legs to keep it moist. After the time has lapse, I rinse the mixture off my legs. Then I apply the neutralizing shampoo and massage it all over my legs. The shampoo I use has a color indicator, when applied to the legs, the foam turns a bright pink. Nothing to freak out over, just to let you know that the product is still on your legs. I keep using the shampoo until the foam is white. This helps prevent the irritation that occurs with many depilatories I have used in the past. I will continue doing this method until it is no longer possible.

OK, I know I only gave this a 3, but hear me out! This did not work as well as I hoped, but it worked much better than I expected, if that makes sense. The first time I used it, I made it too runny, and it was impossible to apply. But it still worked surprisingly well, removing about 80% of my thick, coarse, manly leg hair (yeah gross I know).

I gave it 2 days and tried again. This time I made the mixture much thicker and it stayed on much better. I applied it all over my lower body just to give it a real test. (My boyfriend loves the clean-shaven, "porno" look, but I can only do it every now and then because I get razor burn and ingrown hairs SOOO bad.) Anyway, this stuff removed hair in the bikini area as well as a razor without irritation! I only did it this morning, so we'll see how the ingrown hair situation goes.

Now, the reason I gave this a 3; It's messy, and time consuming, and does not remove all the hair on my legs. HOWEVER, for the price and the complete lack of irritation, ingrowns, and how smooth it leaves my skin, I will continue to purchase over and over and over again. I deffinately reccomend!

EDIT: I'm upping this a point simply because it made my next 2 shaves soo much better with no ingrown hairs! My skin was smooth for days! I really do love this stuff!

okay i just purchased this at wal mart over the weekend after hearing about it on cafemom. i have tried it on (below) the *bikini* area and it worked pretty good. i have not been able to get it as close as i would like, but still better than with any other hair removal cream. and i think it will get better with use, i am still hesitant to leave it on long, cause of the sensitive area and all... may upgrade my review if i am able to get it off smoother next time.

Ladies, I know the package says that this is made to remove "regular to coarse beards" for "men of color." I am none of these things, but it is still FABULOUS. I sit on a towel and rub this onto both legs (I wear gloves so it doesn't make my hands stinky and slippery). Hang out for 10 minutes, then hop in the shower and scrape it off with a bladeless razor. Seriously, it's freaking awesome. Shaving doesn't really work for me because it doesn't leave my skin smooth, no matter what razor or shaving cream I use. The cream shave is easy, fast, and LASTS (I last did this on Sunday morning; it's now Wednesday night and I have the slightest bit of stubble). For around $3, it lasts 3-4 applications. I've already repurchased and will continue to do so. No more shaving for me!
