These were not very good products, imo. I own two of these, got them at Christmas Tree Shops for $1.69 each, so I cannot complain about the price! The two I have are 100 (The gold and fuschia one) and 110 (the lime green and chocolate brown one). Sorry, I do not know the names for these! Anyway, I find these a bit tricky to use. For one thing, I am not a fan of loose shadows in the first place; for some reason, they do not seem to cooperate with me. It is sort of frustrating trying to use the given applicator to put these shadows on because there is way too much shadow on them, which leads to tons of fallout. You need to use a brush to blend what you put on. Also, these shadows tend to fade after a while, so that's a minus. They are really chalky, but still blendable. I will still use these, but will not repurchase.

I have the one in a light minty green and charcoal. These two shades make an interesting smokey eye if you work with it, as it can be pretty messy and easy to over-apply product with the applicator. A base/primer is essential to prevent fallout as well; they're pretty pigmented on their own. Since I'm comfortable using loose eyeshadows, using this product isn't as much as a hassle for me as it might be for those who are used to solid eyeshadows. However, I have to blend out the product with a brush as the applicator is too cumbersome to apply accurately.

I really hated this, not even much to say, I got them at a low price and even then I want to take it back. Once you pull it out you'll know why, lots of fall out. It's really just a big mess initially, when you put this on, when you take it out. I never use it, now it just sits there looking pretty. Guilt tripping me, to always go MUA first. Oh yeah and I bought two.

I'm not sure what the name of my color is, since I got it a lonnggg time ago, but it is the purple and gold one.
The gold side is EXTREMELY pigmented-- I love it!
The purple side is pigmented when you first put it on, but it blends away VERY easily... I haven't tried it wet, though, or with a base.
I do like the sponge applicators, but since it is a pigment, it is a tad bit messy (fall out and such.)
I'd really like try the other colors!

I really like these, enough that I have 3 of them, and would have more if not for the loss of Max Factor in the U.S. :(. I'd actually rate these at 3.5, but since I like them as much as I do and since they don't get enough love, I rounded up :).
Anyway, the good thing about these is that they are convenient to use. You can easily make a colorful eyeshadow look without even whipping out a brush. There is also a great color selection for these! I have Irish Coffee (a subtle lime green and brown), emerald coast (light blue and light teal), and one that's a light rosy pink and charcoal (I think it's called dusty rose?) They have good pigmentation and a subtle shimmer that makes them dimensional.
The only bad thing I can really think of with these is that they can get messy. There is some fallout with each application if you're not super careful. It's not a complete drawback for me, though, and I love the ones I have.
You should try this if you like bright eyeshadows but want to go a bit more subtle some days and if you don't mind fixing some fallout.

Too messy and too much fall out. Very hard to open w/out it spilling every where. No good.

I got this product from a friend and I thought I would love it. When I tried it I thought it looked okay but I wasn't crazy about it. You have to apply two layers to get a good color but it's very messy. It always gets on my cheeks and all over my counter.

Terrible. I bought this in the lovely lookng mint green/charcoal combo. The colors are great but they are completely a hassle. They get all over my eyes and have no staying power whatsoever. You shouldn't have to spend 15 minutes getting the shadow on your eyes (and off your face) when you buy an easy apply pen shadow only for it to last 15 minutes. Skip this one, I'm returning it.

I have this in Sultry Sage, green and purple shade that are nice for my brown eyes.I used the light green on my lids and the purple as liner and v highlight. I couldn't get them to show up as intensely as I wanted though, even over a base--maybe these colors are not as pigmented as the others? Also, the packaging is tricky to use-if you open it the wrong way, powder falls out everywhere. So a 4 for the color and 1 off for packaging and pigment.

I love these shadows. The color payoff is intense, and even brighter and more vibrant than the package. The applicators are good for all over coverage; they aren't perfect and you do need to blend with your fingers a bit, but it's still a great deal. The really unfortunate thing is that they aren't really available in my area.

I love the colors, so vibrant! exactly what i was looking for without paying the exorbitant prices of MAC and such. Like a previous reviewer mentioned, I am not fond of the sponge tip applicator with it which does make the process more annoying than it should be but I find that once I put primer on my lids, I shake up the max factor and pull out the applicator, I pat directly onto my lid packing on color but not too too much, just a bit extra and then take and eyeshadow brush to spread out the shadow on my lid. If i need more, I just tap on some more and blend with an eyeshadow brush. and so far, this method has been doing me good.
I would love to buy more colors, I just wish they would come out with a popping neon pink, nenon yellow and neon orange! :) those would really pop
its is a tad expensive and although these colors are vibrant alone, i found that they are truer to their color, more longer lasting and just plain prettier with primer ( i use too faced shadow insurance)
it is abit pricy in my opinion to the amount you get but the packaging pen shape is easy, doesnt hold too much space so its easy to carry around rather than bottles or small tubs of powder/loose eyeshadows...so I kind of like it better

The best thing about these duos is the color payoff- the shadows are vibrant, beautifully textured, and have good staying power. The colors offered in the range are fabulous and pair together nicely. The price is right, as with all Max Factor products, and the packaging is convenient and attractive. My favorite shade is Moody Mint- a light shimmering aqua paired with a dark (almost black) slightly glittery charcoal. The main downfall of this otherwise awesome product is the applicators themselves. The shadow is loose powder, and when the end is unscrewed there is a sponge wand applicator. The problem is, these applicators pick up too much product and are not very precise. Things get messy, especially with darker colors, when powder ends up sprinkled all over your cheeks, under eyes, etc. My recommendation is to use a different eyeshadow brush and rub it against the included applicator, rather than dipping it into the shadow, and work from there for much more control. The best way to use the applicator in a pinch is to tap the excess back into the shadow and dot it lightly in the area you are using that color, then use your finger to blend the color around. The concept of this product is great, but it becomes somewhat high maintenance due to this issue. Still, its hard to find colors and formulas that are this high end for such a low end price. Worth buying.!
