Ah Coromandel, you were supposed to be my HG orange-red, but your uneven formula broke my heart. Inspired by all the rave reviews for the Laque formula I splurged on three, and all three I couldn't get to apply evenly on my lips for anything. Even after exfoliating and moisturizing my lips the color would travel, and wouldn't cling to my inner lip area for anything. I have pigmented lips so a bright pink ring around my inner lips = no deal. I exchanged them for Rouge Allures. Audace is a good Rouge Allure dupe, just slightly deeper in tone.

This is a really stunning colour - what attracted me to it initially. I was really looking for a lipstick but this caught my eye and I couldn't resist it. Classic pillarbox red.

At first I used it over another red lipstick. I tend to use lip glosses in this way and this looked like a lip gloss, as it comes with a spong type applicator. It wasn't a huge success - had a rather jammy effect and I was finding it was smudging an awful lot. All a bit messy! Then I had the idea to try it on its own as a much thinner application. This is much more successful and it lasts much longer too. It effectively stains the lips and doesn't need a lot of retouching during the day unless you want a full blown look.

I was torn between this and Dragon at the department store and ended up choosing this. Unlike Dragon, this is a lighter tomato-red shade that's just more flattering against my complexion. Dragon felt almost gothic; this looked just right!

The gloss itself is almost like a lipstick. Yes, it's liquid, but it gives you full-coverage! I felt the lasting power was average for a gloss, but weak for a lipstick. In any case I don't mind re-applying because it's CHANEL!!!

The Rouge Allure Laque formula is a godsend, an expensive godsend, but it is so darn good. Lipstick always leaves my lips withered or flaking, and pigmented gloss always bleeds; Rouge Allure Laque is the only bold lipcolor I can apply and forget about. Coromandel is a great red; the hint of orange keeps it cheerful, and I never feel like a pin-up or femme fatale. I find it more flattering on my PPP skin than Dragon, which made me look ruddy. As karlasugar said on her blog, this stuff feels like whipped cream when you paint it on and it stays that way for hours while somehow maintaining its rich pigment and shine. The trick I've found to avoiding smudging and feathering is to apply a super thin coat - not slicked on like a gloss, just enough to cover the lips - and it will stay in place beautifully, and comfortably, with full coverage. If I remember to sip daintily on my coffee cup I leave barely a smudge on the rim; after a meal I'm left with a beautiful coral-red stain. The $32 price tag is high, but the pretty bottle holds .2 oz, compared to Stila's .08 oz lipglaze for $22. It's totally worth it for this genious formula.

I'm absolutely in LOVE with this red. I love blue-based reds (Dragon is another great one), but I never realised how flattering orange-based reds could be for me. This shade is an absolute show-stopper, very bold and bright, but it doesn't take over your face. IMO, darker skinned girls should definitely give this colour a look-in. I was determined to get Dragon, but in the end I just fell harder for Coromandel :-)

I'm really in love with this lipstick, and most especially this particular color. I got Coromandel because Dragon was OOS everywhere, and probably still is. But I love red lipstick and don't mind a orange-based red, so I tried it on at the counter and loved it!

The color is amazing, a beautiful show-stopping red that leans slightly towards the orange side. I find it looks true red until you put it next to Dragon (the other red in this collection) and then it appears more orange since Dragon is definitely more blue based.

The formula is incredible. I don't even have to wear a lipliner and it doesn't bleed. It lasts for hours and hours without compromising the finish or coverage. It applies easily the way a lipgloss would. I love the fact that you can rub or press your lips together and it just feels like a lipgloss rather than something long-wearing. I really don't like the long-wearing lip colors because I always end up with a lighter part in the center of my lips by the end of the day or after I eat or drink. With this product, you can smooth your lips together a bit to redistribute the color after drinking and never have to reapply.

The packaging is gorgeous, heavy, and luxe. It is expensive for sure, but since you hardly ever have to reapply, you don't use much of it. I think it's totally worth it if you can find a color that you like because it should last a long time. I also bought Imperial and MIng, which are also gorgeous. LOVE. I hope they make more colors!!

I'm really surprised with this lipstick. First off, I've never liked the smell of Chanel lipsticks, or their formulas for that matter. But this one is completely different. The color is very classy and sophisticated looking for a red (and I have many shades) and feels quite nice on the lips. I want to get Dragon next.

I'm so impressed with the new RA Laques! This color is definitely not for the weak. On me, it's a fantastic blood red that shouts ROWR! The application is so smooth, the doe-foot applicator is even concave instead of convex like most applicators to fit hte shape of your lips better I guess. The feather is kept to a minimum and the formula is not drying at all. It definitely feels like a lipstick and looks like a lipstick, but lasts longer and looks better. The best lip product I have ever used.

This is the first ever red lip product that I've ever bought. It goes on like a gloss but it dries like a lipstick. It is creamy and VERY pigmented, all together a gorgeous classic orange-red, it compliments my yellow-toned asian skin very well. When I wear it I just don't want to take it off!

ps. this is NOT for the colour shy.

Let me just start out by saying I've NEVER bought a red lipstick/lipgloss because all the shades I've ever tried were either too matte, too orange, too something and I seriously considered red just wasn't my color.
But this product is just AMAZING it looks like an elegant red color on me and has just the right mixture between a gloss and a lipstick its long lasting but not drying. I'm in love, really. Would definitely buy again even if I'm not into spending so much in lippies.

I wish there was an option to say "maybe" on repurchase, given I haven't really even purchased the first one, but I tested and tested extensively over the past few days...
First of all, I totally fell in love with this colour. This is an ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS orange-red, but this, my ladies is not just your average orange-red... This is... well, pure beauty in a bottle. I adore red lipsticks and I know this one would be my favourite colour-wise as it is just truly an amazing red colour... So, why 4 lippies then? Well, primarily because it's staying powers are iffy. But let me start from the top...
I tested 2 different colours of RA Laque: Mandarin and Coromandel - not very similar, although both in the same colour group (warmer orangey-reds). While I loved both, I decided to purchase Mandarin (see my other review for more details) - at least for now. I may decide to get Coromandel as well, but I am still seriously contemplating and need to test it some more before I buy (these babies are almost $40 CAD so they aren't exactly cheap!).
First of all, if you have read my review on Mandarin, you would've read my description of the texture and packaging. For others, here it is again... Rouge Allure Laque is a crossover between lipstick, lip gloss and a lip stain. The concept (wand application) is very "lip glossy", the effect on lips predominantly "lipsticky", but it will also appeal to those who like the lipstain concept due to its good staying power. But, if I had to pick one of the three, I would probably put the product in the "lipstick" category. I am not a lipgloss fan and I love the texture of this product. It is DEFNITELY not sticky. Chanel describes it as "Luminous Satin Lip Laquer" and I'd say that's a pretty acurate description.
The packaging is very luxurious, heavy, similar in feel to the RA lipstick packaging. Interestingly, testers come in a clear glass bottle, while the actual product for sale comes in the completely black bottle (see the pic I uploaded).
The texture of this laquer provides a slight sheen to the colour, not shimmer, but sheen. This is definitely not a matte lip colour, but after you've had it on for a while Coromandel may become more matte on your lips.
So, the only downside of Coromandel is that it seems to bleed and come off faster than Mandarin. Mandarin REALLY stays put in place and I personally have not noticed any bleeding with that one, so it could be something due to the colour pigment - not sure. I personally do not use lip liners, and the Chanel SA told me that she noticed some small amount of bleeding for Coromandel without a lip liner, so if you notice that happening you may have to use a lip liner (I guess clear lip liner is also an option I will try with that next and see if that makes it better). I also noticed, as mentioned, that Coromandel wears off faster than Mandarin.
To summarize, please test Coromandel before you buy. If you like red lipsticks (the ones that are on the warmer side), you will love the colour. Just make sure it performs to your expectations.
UPDATE: I bought this today. I loved the colour so much I just couldn't resist. I tested with DuWop's reverse lip liner and it seems to work, i.e. does not bleed (although I only had it on for 2-3 hours). If it bleeds beyond that point tomorrow I will just have to remove and reapply. BTW, if you want to test with a clear lip liner, make sure you bring one with you as Chanel doesn't have any clear lip liners.
