I have quite fair complexion (I think NC15-20) and typical combination skin (oily t zone with some dry spots).
Colour: The colours in this foundation all seem to start quite dark, so wouldn't be good for very fair people. I was fitted to the lowest colour Ivory, and it was on the dark side for me, but actually worked quite well.
Coverage: Fine at first with primer applied below, but got a little orange-y over time. VERY strong coverage for what is called a tinted moisturiser - more like a liquid foundation. But wasn't good at all for my little oily spotd.
Longevity: Started to get oily and lose coverage after only a couple of hours.
Finish: Has a very dewy finish, and it also has micro sparkles in it that become more apparent after a couple of times. People started commenting that I was wearing glitter on my face. Not what I want for an every day foundation!
Packaging: Very attractive and slimline, but I don't like pump bottles because I feel like I'm losing out on a lot of foundation near the end because there's a lot around the edges / at the bottom that you can't get.

This product was the best one I could find when I went to Sephora looking for a new foundation. Being in my 50's the foundations I tried were cakey looking and did not look good on my skin at all (and I actually have pretty nice skin). This one, when applied with a WET SPONGE, looks awesome. The water from the sponge really makes this go on smoothly and gives a good all day look. I would not recommend using your fingers or even a brush to apply this, use the wet sponge.
The packaging is not very good. The pump uses up the available product and since the container is not see through you have no idea how much is left. The first time I used it I threw it away after the pump stopped pumping. Then on the 2nd bottle I got smart and unscrewed the top to find another several weeks worth of product if you scoop it out with the pump wand thingy.
A little of this foundation goes a long way, you don't need alot to get a nice look.

I was excited to try this when I got a sample from sephora, who has many rave reviews on their site. I previously used Aveeno tinted moisturizer and am currently using Physicians Formula. Both of which are decent. So anyway, I was looking forward to a new tinted moisturizer. The first time I used it, i squeezed a little onto my hand, since I usually apply tinted moisturizers with my hands. It was terrible, I felt like I was putting thick concealer all over my face. But I rubbed it in a little and it wasn't too bad, so I kept it on all day to see how it would be. I went into natural sunlight and their idea of "Ivory" is seriously wrong. This color made me look burnt orange and definitely wasn't moisturizing as much as it was greasy. Next time, I applied it with a brush, which made it a little bit better. It certainly covers up blemishes and makes your pores look nonexistent, which is great, but as the night went on I feel as though it separated on my face and just was oily. The name is misleading because this is not at all a tinted moisturizer, this is a full coverage liquid foundation. It isn't moisturizing and it isn't a "tint," it is very pigmented. Besides, any company who thinks it would be ok to sell real tinted moisturizer for almost $60 is seriously disturbed. I gave it a couple lippies because it does look nice at first and could be a good full coverage foundation. However, both days I wore this, the next days I had new blemishes on my chin. That could just be me, something else I used maybe, but I have been blaming it on this.

UGH. I hated this. I used a primer, applied with a stippling brush, and set with translucent powder and it I looked cakey and weird. I kept it on, despite desperately wanting to wash it off, and within four hours the product had separated on my face and my skin looked greasy and dull (a real feat for my super dry skin). And as if all that wasn't enough, it broke me out like crazy and left me with pores the size of Texas. Maybe I got a bad batch or something, but this was the worst product I've put on my face in months. Terrible.

i got this in ivory ( 2nd lightest shade) and it's a good match. but to me this is like a BB cream. it feels thicker than a tinted moisturizer but coverage is sheerer than liquid foundation. it comes in a pump. no fragrance. (at first it may smell slightly like zinc but it fades) i like it and will prob purchase again, unless i find something better. my skin looks dewy with this on. i would say the undertone is neutral , not yellow or pink.

For a tinted moisturizer, this is really thick and provides as much coverage as some foundations. For some, this could be a good thing, but not if you're in search of a great TM.

This Covers like a lightweight foundation to me.. It claims to tighten up the skin after 1 hour of application with glycopeptide . Diddnt feel or notice.. I did use this on a bride with textured skin and the hyluronic spears smoothed nicely.. Must say u should exfoliate b4 trying ... If u were ever wearing a mineral foundation powder or have clogged pores you will see this settling in.

Got a sample of this from Sephora in Fair, the lightest shade. I am NC15 - very pale with yellow undertones but ruddiness from rosacea. This TM has a nice non-greasy, creamy feel and a non-dewy, natural finish with decent coverage for a TM, but it's way too dark and too orange for my coloring. I am surprised that this is the lightest shade. If they ever do an Extra Light version, I will give it a try.

I just love this product! First, I always go for the dewy, barely there makeup, face. I don't like heavy foundations or obvious makeup in my face at all. I tried this tinted moisturizer and it's everything I hoped for. I usually put it on top of my other skincare products(serum, moisturizer and sunscreen) and it doesn't feel or look greasy at all. Although it says it's very moisturizing, it is not, the product is kind of dense, but easy to spread on the face. I have combination skin, but now during winter is more dryish, let's see how it works during summer. Regarding the range of colors, is limited, I use color "sand" and I'm NC35 with yellow undertones, and it matches my skin perfectly. Definitely, a must have!!! totally recommend it :)

Tried this in 'shell'.
It's kinda hard to spread because it's so thick, but I fixed this by spraying my face with a little water first--makes the finish look much more natural. The color match is perfect. It doesn't cake up as much as Makeup Forever HD (and is similar to their 117 shade).
The coverage is pretty good, I'd say medium.
*Edit: It doesn't cake up at ALL!
A full five on this, baby!
Update: it did cake up some after all. And it contains OCTINOXATE, a sunscreen ingredient that you should avoid. If they're going to charge $60 for this, they should use higher quality ingredients.

This is expensive for TMs go, but the quality is totally worth it. The color doesn't sheer out or fade away within an hour like other TMs. It gives light coverage, almost like a foundation, without the heavy cakey look. Gives bautiful dewy complexion. I know the controversies with SPF, but I use a moisturizer and primer underneath, both of which are also SPF, so I don't depend on the TM for that.

I haven't purchased a bottle of this myself as I've only used a few samples of this from Sephora; that's why I selected 'No' to the question "Would you buy this product again?"
I would purchase this if I have money I want to blow on a pretty expensive product. Thing is, I'm not absolutely in love with this product though I do think it's good as it provides moderate, consistent coverage and makes my skin look great and radiant. I noticed in natural light that this product imparts micro-glitter/crystals, which are likely responsible for aforementioned radiance. I think the shade range is relatively good. I may recommend this or any of the Hourglass face products particularly to older women in their mid-40s onward because the coverage is moderate to full and of high quality.

This product really shouldn't be classified as a tinted moisturizer - way too much coverage for a 'natural' finish and also contained pigments that made you sparkle in the light, not really what I was after. Also, I have very oily skin and even though this product claims to be oil-free it made me break out and clogged my pores, especially around the t-zone. The result was an uneven texture to my face. The product may be best for those with dryer skin, as it is very heavy for a tinted moisturizer. I am giving it 2 stars - one for the packaging quality and the other for the amount of product given - a little goes a long way.

This is the first tinted moisturiser that I have ever been really truly happy with.
Two CONS such as bad colour selection (Im in between NC15-20 and Shell, the lightest shade, is ever so slightly to dark) and price. But, I will pay if I notice the difference and with this I definitely do.
I have had this for about a month and have used it a few times a week when I felt like I needed more coverage. Yeah ok I thought it was nice but was it worth it? I wasnt so sure..untill today. I was applying it in the car (passenger, not driving hehe) with the Sephora small airbrush foundation brush and I could see just how nicely it evened out and covered better than some pitiful excuses for foundations and reflected the light nicely with some very very very fine shimmer particles.
I then used the Hourglass concealer on my dark circles and voila, my imperfections were covered but I didnt look like a cake face.
I would not recommend this for supremely paler than pale gals who have oily skin in the high of summer. Everyone else, if you have the money, give it a go!

I received a sample of this in "ivory". At first I thought it was going to be too pale for my olive skin, but it was actually a perfect match, so I feel that fair skinned ladies will have trouble finding a shade light enough for them.
I do not wear foundation at all, so I am not used to, and do not like the feeling of something on my face, but this, feels like I have nothing on it is so lightweight! I could not believe how absolutely perfect my skin looked with this on, with a healthy lit from within glow!
I feel that this is better suited for night wear since it does have these tiny micro sparkles that produce the glowing effect.
Just so you guys know, I have oily-combination skin, where i'm oily on my t-zone, i have a medium skin tone, and i'm 23 years old, so I can't say anything about the anti-aging properties.
Pros:
Very lightweight, no sticky, tacky feeling, does not feel heavy, feels natural
Provides beautiful glowing look
Provides a great amount of coverage
Cons:
Price :/
and sparkles, may be too glowy for some

FIRST OFF I HAVE VERY DRY SENSITIVE SKIN.... AND YES THIS IS OIL FREE..... I love this product. It was recomended to me at Sephora because my Tarte was drying out my skin. So the person who demanded us DRY ladies get our products straight is WAY WRONG. This is the Best Tinted Moisturizer I have ever used. My skin looks amazing. I use it over my regulat moisturizer as well.. Which HAS ALWAYS BEEN OIL FREE by direction of a DR. So please ladies make sure you test your products because you would be surprised how many reviewers DO NOT know what they are talking about...... And yes I have purchased this now 4 times. It covers my red cheeks nicely and makes my skin glow. I do not have the shimmer problem either. I look fresh..

** Not Tested On Animals **
Skin type: normal to dry but acne prone.
Desperately seeking a new HG foundation since I found out MAC test on animals after being bought out by Estee Lauder. For reference, I am MAC NC25 / NC30 - see my notepad for my colour matches to other brands.
BEFORE: Previously, I would counteract my dry skin & MAC's cakiness by applying a facial oil (my own blend), followed by tinted moisturiser w/SPF & primer before applying foundation. As this is (supposedly!) a tinted moisturiser, I applied facial oil, followed by primer, followed by a teensy bit of Hourglass Illusion Tinted Moisturiser - a little goes a long way.
AFTER: Wow. This does not seem like 'just' a tinted moisturiser! Medium coverage, natural finish. Unsure of staying power as I haven't exerted myself very much today. It didn't fully cover my under eye circles but after the first layer had 'set', I reapplied over my eye-bags & some acne scars which has given 90% coverage. This product would perform well with the right concealer. I haven't noticed the shimmer which has troubled other reviewers. No need for finishing powder.
EDITED TO ADD: product settled into the eyelid crease, so maybe a light dusting of finishing powder on eye area.
QUALITY: Very nice! This product is $80+ in Australia (from Mecca Cosmetica) and I haven't seen it on eBay. It has a hardly noticeable smell which is very mild & quite pleasant. Compared to MAC, I can barely feel it (I swear I gained a couple of kg under the weight of SFF) but the coverage is exceptional.
RE-PURCHASE? Maybe! It depends how my search for the new HG foundation goes. The lovely SA at Mecca Cosmetica kindly gave me samples for Sand (which I've tried today) and also Beige. Sand has oxidised slightly and it's also a little bit orangey, I'll add the results of Beige once I've tried it.
EDITED TO ADD: Needed a touch up after 5 hours of wear. Tried again with concealer which increased staying power.
ETA # 2: Beige is too.. beige! I have light/medium skin with warm undertones & beige makes me look ashen. If there were more shades I would probably divorce Kevyn Aucoin & shack up with Hourglass.

What a downer, no UVA protection. Read it on beautypedia, then checked for myself. What is the deal with asking us to pay with tax $60 and claim sun protection. Well, they claim SPF protection (UVB) but I am offended that the UVA wrinkle making sun wave stuff is going to come through. Otherwise, this is more like a foundation, the colors run DARK. Light Beige is not for light to med skin, it is for med skin. I'm sticking to Tarte Smooth Operater, it may be just SPF 20 but the UVA blocker is there.

I went to Sephora looking to spend around $20 for a tinted moisturizer. They put this on me and I was hooked. Whoops.
It's $60 (way out of my price range) but I've been wearing daily for over 5 months and have more than half the bottle left. I use it mainly for hiding dark scars left by acne and evening out my skin tone--I use less than 1 pump for my entire face and apply with my fingers. Sheer enough to look natural (never cakey) yet offers more coverage than other TM's I've tried. If you have flaky skin, skip this product: the shimmer accentuates these areas. However, I haven't found the shimmer to be a problem otherwise. Staying power is ok, maybe 4/5. This also photographs beautifully--makes you look luminescent.
I'd love to say I'll repurchase but it's just so expensive. I kind of justify it by saying it lasts so long--I won't run out of this for at least another year (and, like I said--daily use!). I also haven't found another TM that actually does provide coverage AND looks natural, so there's that to consider as well.

This is a great product. when i first got it i thought i found a holy grail tinted moisturiser and i thought perfect for dry skin. doe not cling to dry spots like other foundations i have tried and had a lovely luminous finish. the negative yes, in day light my face does sparkle and few hours into the day i begin to look oil and need to blot. this is perfect for mature skin but if you dont mind blotting and having a lumnious excessively then this is perfect.. i think best thing about it is it does not cling to dry skin.
