LOVEEE. Not sure why it's getting such a bad rap! I have oily skin, and when I say I've tried every primer imaginable, I mean EVERY one. I love this primer, even better than the Smashbox, NARS, Sephora, and Tarte ones I've owned. When applied after a makeup setting spray, (Urban Decay's de-slick) my makeup looks flawless. No primer is a magician, but I get a beautiful matte finish from this Givenchy Mister Mat, and I don't find myself having to touch up or blot throughout the day. The packaging is sleek and tucks away neatly in my vanity. Would definitely recommend, maybe a good, matte setting spray is all it takes to get great results from this primer. Definitely worth the price !

I've been a sucker for HE products since I was an SA for YSL in my late teens. I haven't been as avid a product junkie as in my teens but I'm still looking for new products since my skin has changed a bit.
I was looking for a matte finish under makeup. Meghan at Sephora Ala Moana applied this on me on moisturized skin under my foundation w/ a sponge. I wasn't looking for a primer but after she sold me on the texture and look of this. It smells of roses, may be strong to some but not for me. I prefer fragrance in my skin care and cosmetics to mask the "unscented" scent; it just feels more luxurious to me plus my skin doesn't react to fragrance that in ways that I am aware of.
It applied very smoothly and does not flake like Smashbox. It feels like a silicone-based primer; didn't check ingredients. This just made my foundation go on like butter. It truly is a luxurious product but there are probably things that money is better spent on. You get very little and I'll probably go through this in a few months, maybe less. Nonetheless, I like the finish and fragrance enough for me to repurchase. Deducted a lippie for price and for not keeping me matte like it should; I was shiny in a few hours however, it could be due to the foundation or moisturizer I wore as well.

Smells very nice and makes my face super smooth for foundation application. It does help my makeup last a little longer (maybe an hour or two) but nothing drastic. Because of the scent, i feel like this might not be a good product for people with sensitive skin since it is obviously perfumed.
Everything about this product is just so-so. Does not set it apart from any other silicone primer out there. Feels exactly the same. No reason why you should choose this one over others.

This gave me awful CYSTIC ACNE. I am acne prone, so if you are lucky enough to have clear skin, then maybe it will work for you. But I had to return it, and I have probably never returned any cosmetics before. And yes, it's expensive. I would probably think that if you were to use any mattifying primer, only use a small amount and only use on the T zone or areas you need it.

I kind of both love and hate this product. On the one hand it sets my foundation beautifully and I like the smell. But on the other hand, I think it's the culprit of skin aggravation, which leads to some nasty breakouts. I'm eager to try out the YSL Matte primer and Chanel Le Blanc. Still on the hunt for the HG primer...

Givenchy's Mister Mat disappoints on the most disappointing of levels. This product made me break out. I used it for 3, maybe 4 days (I persevered) but I just couldn't take the congested pores any more. They got worse, and worse and worse. I'm not a happy bunny. It's been a couple of days since I last used it and my skin is still in crisis!
It just seems so wrong for a product that is meant to address the concerns of combination/oily skin to actually make things WORSE. It's just not on.
I have combination skin. It's winter at the moment so I find that my t-zone, although oilier than the rest of my face, is not as oily as it is in summer. So I can only comment on this product's performance based on a moderate shine problem and not an extreme shine problem. It went on smoothly, and did keep my skin matte and makeup looking good for most of the day.
However I can't see my self using this or repurchasing this ever again, the skin problems that follow using this aren't worth it!

I got this as a sample from Sephora awhile back.. I remember trying it once and hating it because it made me so oily and it made my makeup just slide off. I also recall it giving me a breakout, so I was scared to try this again.
Recently, I figured I should try this again since I knew that the last time I tried it, I was out sweating and trying a new foundation as well. I put this on half of my face and left the other side bare, then put my foundation on and a mattifying powder. I knew that I didn't like the combination that much since I get oily in about 3 hours, but the side with the primer started getting oily in less than 2! It started feeling and looking so greasy that I just couldn't stand it anymore, and the bare side of my face still looked alright.
I think this made me more oily because of the silicone, which I now know doesn't help me at all. I'm glad I didn't spend the money to buy this.

I havent tried many primers but this is by far the best I have tried. It definatley helps control the oil in my skin and stops me looking shiny. It is about the same value for money as smashbox which is 25£. This is only 20£ but only has 25ml where as the smashbox has 30ml.

This makes my skin so smooth like a flower petal . It smells like perfume. When I use it my skin looks soft and plush and my foundation blends easier.

This thing does nothing to keep the face mattify! Don't waste your money. This is absolutely useless. And it doesn't prolong my makeup either.

I'm usually very oily by the end of the day-
and with this product, I was SUPER oily.
My makeup slid off, and my face was red&blotchy&disgusting.
most of my foundation was gone, as with my concealer.
I even look better WITHOUT any primer than wearing this.
It goes on smooth, glides on like a light gel and feels great when you first put it on-
but the results...
very, very disappointing.
I have no idea why this is even called Mattifying primer.

I love this primer!! Everything else is tooo oily for me! If your oily and nothing seems to work..give this a try! I am so glad I found this!

I hate the smell of this product. Smells like play-do (clay). Sometimes I feel that this product makes my skin too smooth for my makeup to stay in place. It "slips" off. Now I only use this product around my nose, and rough eye areas and dry patches on my skin.

I loveeeeee this primer. I really do think that it's amazing. Yes it is a bit expensive ($30) for 0.8 oz of product, but you need VERY little of this. It goes on smoothly and just smooth out the textures of your skin. I orginally got this as a sample from sephora and I fell in love with it, so I bought the full size. And lets just say, there is soo much product that I am still using the sample, I'm not even done with it and I've been using this for atleast 2 months now. However it is not exactly matte, yes it evens out the texture your skin, reduce SOME oil but not all and is not matte. I think it just make your skin looks clean (???) if you use it alone without the foundation. It does not make me break out, and the girl below does not like the fact that it's scented but I infact LOVE it, to me it has a faint roses, and I love that, but others might not. However I do really love this primer and it's worth the price.

What it is:
A mattifying powder gel.
What it does:
Givenchy Mister Mat Mattifying Foundation Primer is a soft skin primer that can be used alone or under makeup for a velvety smooth complexion. The lightweight fluid softens and hydrates with silicone gum extracts; and plant extracts work to control sebum production, which provides a long-lasting matte effect that remains light enough to let skin breathe. The subtle light-blue pearlescent shimmers counteract a dull look and minimize the appearance of large pores, leaving skin looking bright and glowing with health.

I just purchased this today. I have not used it under my makeup yet but I intend to update this as soon as I do (tomorrow). I did apply the product to a part of my face today just to get a feel, and I can safely say that this product has given me the most velvety soft results. I have used Smashbox Photofinish, Lorac Aquaprime, Laura Mercier Oil-Free, Lancome La Base Pro. Hopefully this will keep my oilies at bay way longer than the other products do.
Will update with results.
EDIT: OK so today I wore this under my Lancome Teinte Idole foundation. It definitely tamed oilies but ofcourse not completely. But a very nice job and also prolongs the freshness of the makeup. Unfortunately I have been experiencing severe cakiness with my foundation even with the LIGHTEST amount of product on my t-zone. So I exchanged for Diorskin and am ecstatic to see how Mister Mat will work with my new foundation!
2ND EDIT: Ok I think this stuff is the culprit for my recent breakout. My skin tends to be a little sensitive...and Mister Mat is SCENTED. Its smell is very vague but it is there...it is a pretty exotic Givenchy scent. However for the face I don't think this is good! I have little bumps on my forehead. Hey, at least it's not cystic acne (cough cough MUFE). Anyways, I don't really notice any significant oil reduction, sadly. However this stuff is supposedly working great with most so give it a try still.
However there IS silicone in this so please beware
