My hair has been in pretty bad shape for the past 2 years or so. I've been struggling with split ends and dry, dull, and brittle hair. I've tried a number of d/s shampoos, but always avoided Pantene because of it's bad rep. As a last resort, I did some more in-depth research and though maybe Pantene would work well for me being that it's loaded with silicones that could possibly help protect my hair when heat styling. I picked up Classic Care shampoo and conditioner for around $4 each at Target. After the first couple uses, I was really impressed. My ends were smooth, so the damage wasn't as noticable. I was also surprised at how shiny my hair looked. I was pretty pleased with how great my hair looked for the first week or so. Unfortunetly the results weren't long lasting, because as I got closer to finishing the bottle, my hair began to feel terrible. I started to notice that my ends looked fried, but my roots looked greasy. My hair had no movement, and I couldn't get it to hold a style for the life of me. Even when my hair was wet it felt course and brittle. I switched back to Garnier Triple Nutrition, and instantly felt an improvement. Now I understand why Pantene has it's bad rep.

My hair has become fickle these days and the pro products I've been using make it so oddly soft that it feels like its disintegrating upon being rinsed or combed. That said, I decided to downgrade to a drugstore brand as my hair likes simplicity.

Not sure why I chose pantene, but it was a good option. It strengthened my hair after I used it and added just a touch of volume. I'm not big on dimethicone, but this 'classic' formula doesn't bother my hair or skin. Prior to washing my hair with this, I had those white split ends everywhere, but afterwards they're nearly invisible and my hair is shining! So weird how pantene can have a mass of suck products but have one or two that actually work; even stranger is the fact that I have the driest hair ever, yet this works fine for me despite it being geared toward normal hair. I'll keep using this and hope the effects of dimethicone never catch up to me.

EDIT: All was good and well until I noticed major frizz and TONS of body being added to my hair. This is a volumizing shampoo in disguise apparently. I had to stop using this for those two reasons. Subtracting two lippies for incomplete advertising!

I will always buy this!
Pros:
If you have oily hair, this is your holy grail! My hair is typically oily so if I use other products like Garnier or Herbal Essences, it gets even flatter and oilier. Eew. No one wants greasy looking hair right after they shower! No no! This is the best for removing all dirt and nastiness. It does not make hair flat, and it gives body.

Cons:
It dries out your hair. Your hair might have body, but its dry as hell. I need to use a shine serum to make sure it's not totally coarse and dry (I only want the roots to not look oily, otherwise I like shiny hair!!)

I've been using Pantene for years. It's one of my favorite brands. The Classic Care shampoo is great for basic hair washing because it smells good, clean, and fresh, (IMO), lathers nicely, and thoroughly cleans your hair. The only "issue" I can see with this product is that if use it everyday your hair might become a bit dry, but that's probably true with any shampoo. Overall, Pantene is one of my go-tos for great hair care.

I really like this shampoo. I have really thick hair that holds onto to styling products and I end up getting a lot of product build-up. This shampoo cleans all of those hair products out of my hair. I often buy different shampoos but I always end up coming back to this one.

I bought the new version of this shampoo. It now has sodium-based surfactants instead of ammonium-based. Well, so far I like it. I haven't lost one hair while using this combo, which is a miracle lately! It's probably too soon to tell if it will work for me, but so far it seems promising. Fingers crossed! Update 5/2/10: Well, two words: ITCHY SCALP! I like how this cleans my hair without weighing it down, but after a few days' use the itching is unbearable.

Classic cars, classic movies, classic one liners. Somebody somewhere said "you just can't beat the original" and this is certainly the case with Pantene's Classic Care Shampoo.

The shampoo itself has a nice consistency with a glossy pearl shimmer in it. Has that lightly fruity, pleasant, but with chemical undertones smell that you get in the hairdressers.

Used in conjunction with the conditioner it leaves your hair feeling very smooth, straight and silky. The pearly shimmer in the shampoo brings a lovely shine to your hair without looking glittery or fake. Just a lovely natural shine.
Five lipsticks from me!

I dont like this shampoo and conditioner, but that could just be cause its not for my hair type (bleached, overprocessed) as it leaves it feeling dry and not cared for. Would be good for someone with healthy virgin hair that wants a decent shampoo and conditioner for everyday.

Wow I'm surprised that this shampoo hasn't gotten very high reviews - many people I know love it and won't use anything else!! I think it has a pretty nice smell (even if it is a bit strong), and makes my hair glossy and (almost!) manageable. My hair is curly and dry, and I know there are many shampoos designed for my hair-type, I find this works the best.

I remember being on a strict budget and going from high-end salon shampoo to drugstore shampoos. This was better than any shampoo I've ever tried at the salons. It rinses my oily scalp well and it leaves my hair super soft and shiney. It didn't wash my color out either which was a bonus.

For my hair, this just isn't the optimal shampoo. It takes a whole lot of it to work through my full hair, and when I'm done rinsing, my hair's a little greasy. It smells very nice, though.
