I recently bought this from a makeup artist who was selling a bunch of her old makeup; it was barely used and super pretty.... I couldn't resist. Once i got it home I automatically looked it up on this sight to see how people suggested using it. The next day I used it as a crease and outer v color with Laura Mercier's Sandstone... OMG!!! It was beyond amazing. The color combination made my blue eyes pop and it wasn't too dark so it was perfect for the day.

The only problem I have is that it really doesn't keep the purple color once blended out. It turns more to a dark smokey color. Oh! and the price... don't even get me started on the price that MAC charges for ANY of the products.

Gosh this was just lying around in my cupboard because I had no idea what to do with this color! I just bought Prepped for Glamour, and found 100 Strokes a good match for a "smokey" touch in the corners. Not very versatile color and I don't think you should use this if you have fair / light skin tone. It works for me with Prepped for Glamour because I have NC37 skin tone and grey eyes.

I like how this colour is a nice rich brown with added red kick. It is a neutral that's unlike any other I've seen. And, as a Mac shadow it applies and blends beautifully. Lovely!

The colour is very pretty, a deep burgundy-ish shade with a bit of shimmer. If you're using this in the crease, whatever shade you end up blending over or under it, is going to turn 100 Strokes into a weird colour that is nothing like what you see in the pan. Not only that, but it is a nightmare to blend out, even if I sweep a base shadow lashline to browbone. It really doesn't work on me, even though I know some people love it. I can only really use it to line the lashline, otherwise the shadow just turns icky. It really is a shame, 100 Strokes is so pretty in the pan! D:

Pigmented, warm, purpley-brown. I have to knock off one lippie because it's a bit difficult to blend.

This is the nicest of a number of brown shades I own. On me it's an ultra rich cool leaning bronze. I get the shimmer if I use it over a proper eye base / primer. Makes blue / green eyes really shine.

I use it all over the lid rather than as a crease colour.

I think 100 Strokes is pretty average. It's not a unique shade, but it is versatile. It's a little harder to blend than I would like to a crease colour, but it's well pigmented.

this is a nice crease color but I was disapointed as it looked better in the pot than it does on. On my skin I dont really see much of the gorgeous purply red...just more of a reddish tinted deep grey. If I pack it on I get a purple shimmer but it tents to look a bit dirty

This is such a gorgeous crease color. I love it. It was my first brown eyeshadow from MAC and I'm still in love with it. The light shimmer is so nice. If I yould I would wear this all over my face. ;-)

At first glance 100 strokes looks like twinks, but once applied it is much more unique. 100 strokes is a smoked out plummy color. It can look like a black e/s if too much is applied. I really love this color, and it is so unique and different from any of my other MAC e/s and I have at least 100 of them. Too bad it's LE. I'm not sure what took me so long to purchase this one.

I bought this product when I went to the MAC counter looking for colors that would accentuate the green in my hazel eyes. I currently use this color to set my black kohl eyeliner. Although you would think using this color over black would be completely unnoticable, I have gotten so many compliments and comments about my pretty "green" eyes. Even one of my best friends turned to me one day and said, "Your eyes look so green right now. I thought they were brown." So if you are looking to bring out the green in yours eyes, definitely try this eyeshadow!

It is so pretty in the pan. But with just a little blending I only get gray, nothing similar to burgundy. Maybe I should try layering over a dark base as some of the reviewers below suggested. If only I can get it to look as it does in the pan... :( I blame my makeup skills (or lack of skills, I should say)

This was from the BBR collection from MAC and I love it! Sometimes I like a dark eyeshadow color all over the lid and this is a great color. It's also a good crease color.

100 strokes was the most unique eye shadow in the blonde brunette redhead collection imo. it is a slightly shimmery blackened plum burgundy and is labeled as frost. it is super pigmented, smooth and looks on the lid as it looks in the pot. it's very versatile as it looks great all over the lid or in the crease with pinks, lavenders, browns, creams etc. just a gorgeous color. it's reminiscent of beauty marked, but as you may know beauty mark is famous for its beauty in the pan and its questionable payoff. those who were disappointed with beauty marked may find this to be a good alternative. if you passed on this the 1st time around it's currently available in the "goodbyes" section on the maccosmetics website. if you are into these type of colors i suggest you get it soon, as it is limited edition.

Absolutely gorge! I bought this from eBay at a reduced price cos the buyer said that it didn't suit! Huh? How can this not suit anyone? It is the nicest colour, a burgundy, browish plumish shimmery velvety grey. I love it, and will repurchase before MAC discontinues.

I don't get people who compare this to embark or say it's boring. Are you kidding me? It's a burnt browned gray with a plum shimmer. I have never seen that before in my LIFE. It is a bit sheer but I don't think this is meant to be used as this super pigmented wash of color. It's a duochrome so if you want it to show up just a dark grayed brown then use it on its own but if you want that plummy red to show through (and oh, you do. YOU. DO) it NEEDS a dark base. I did a smokey eye with this over a black base and it was SO INTERESTING and lovely. It makes brown eyes POP like no other.

Personally I love dark smokey eyes and I'm always looking for dark colors that are interesting to mix it up a bit and this is the perfect color if you're tired of the boring old black or brown smokey eyes. Blend out some base, use this as a wash on top. Blend blend blend and voila! A lovely dark smokey eye with a plumy red sparkle! LOVELY!

100 Strokes is from the Redhead line. It's a plummy brown. I don't see any grey in it the way some people are. I find it very similar in color to Embark with a bit more shimmer. I have tried layering it over dark paint pots, light paint pots, etc... I'm a NW15 with auburn hair and blue eyes and I am finding that this color really is not necessary for me. I get what I need with Embark and Glamour Check.

This super gorgeous on top of MACs blackground paint pot! The color is amazingly intense and pops. It brings out the red, burgandy, and violets in the shadow. This combo would be awesome for a night out with black eyeliner and mascara. I also tried 100 strokes with MACs girl friendly paint pot (matte pink). Definitely a more day time look. It brought out much more of the browns in the shadow. Overall love the color! I highly recomend using a paint pot with this shadow to keep the intensity all day long.

I was looking forward to trying this because it appeared to be the color I'd been searching for. Unfortunately, it doesn't look the same on my skin as it does in the pot. On my light olive skin it turns to a dark, matte grey and loses a lot of red and shimmer. This surprised me, because I saw "loci" had posted a picture with her review and I loved the way it looked on her, especially paired with an olive green. Oh well, I can still use this, and hope maybe it will look truer with a summer tan. Until then, I'll keep looking for that perfect shade. I still gave it high marks because it obviously does look right on some people.
