Black Cat from Stila is a very nice Black. I would not consider it jet black . It's somewhere between a soft black and deep black. Exceeded my expectations. The eyeshadow is pigmented and has good staying power. I haven't tried using it wet but I'm sure it applies just as great wet as it does dry.

I got this as part of my Barbie loves Stila palette and I think it's a nice shade. It's not super black as in deep black that makes it great as an outer v color that you can actually wear during the day. I can't say it's highly pigmented but the amount is just enough per swipe. This one will go a long way for me as I dig for neutral no makeup look for office but will definitely use this for after office gigs :)

I just didn't like this Shadow. It flakes below my eyes and just doesn't smudge well...I love Stila esp. Kitten and was hoping to like this just as much :( no luck!

I must say: "wow!" on many different levels (both good and bad.) I will say right up front I'm pretty new to the black shadow thing even though I'm almost 40 (i know: nerd alert) -but I always thought black would be too much. Anyway - I have MAC Carbon which I really like, but sometimes it just seems too matte. I want to try a little pigment over it, but there is only so much work I can do with this look.
So - enter Stila Black Cat. The formula is pretty creamy for a shadow (in a good way) and went on very nicely. The good part is that it seem to have immediate staying power, but that was also the bad part - it was very hard to buff out the hard edges. This definitely seems like something that takes a little more work - but I do think it gives a pretty powerful look with the nice shimmer and almost decadent color.
I'm not totally positive I would buy this again, but I think if you are a real black e/s conoisseur - this is worth a try.

This is a fun new addition to the typical smoky eye. I love Kamet as a base, Makalu as a liner, Diamond 'Lil in the crease, Black Cat in the outer corners, and Cloud as a wash. Black Cat just gives the whole look an extra kick, perfect for a night out. Layered over Makalu keeps the black rich and deep instead of sheer.

Sephora.com describes Black Cat as "shimmering soft black". I also have Stila Ebony (matte black). Side by side, Black Cat appears to have a slight grey tone to it, probably due to the shimmer. It's softer and easier to blend than Ebony because it's not a matte. However, it's not as pigmented as I would have liked. Overall, not bad, but I like smokey eyes and was hoping Black Cat would be more intense. It's slightly glowy/shimmery but not overly frosty, unlike Stila Kitten e/s. I'll keep using Black Cat but would not repurchase, because I still want to try Urban Decay Zero. Click "continued" for a side-by-side comparison of Black Cat (Middle) Ebony (Right):
