This is just to much for my skin. No matter how gentle I tried to be, this is just too rough--I felt like I was tearing my face up. I finished up my tube as a body scrub.

One of the best scrubs I've ever used! Great for oily skin and doesn't have an adverse effect, for sensitive skin types.
Amazing!

From my understanding of what the word "gommage" means and having used Institut Esthederm and Chanel gommages, it is more like a cream that exfoliates gently. This Arcona product is basically a scrub, with a large grain, that exfoliates physically by actually rubbing the cells off and then chemically with salicylic acid. You really have to put a small amount in your palm and add a good amount of water before applying it. I got this in the initial travel kit I bought to try out Arcona and I decided it be the one product I would never use again since my first experience was so negative. However, I saved a little bit in the refrigerator to use again and on the second try I realized it could be somewhat effective. The smell is amazing but the actual feel of the product is so rough that even with a large amount of water it still feels unpleasant. Like a wonderful smelling belt sander you take to your face. I think I would rather try the Golden Grain, which is supposed to be gentler.

NOTE: This will dye any dead skin on your face purple if you don't scrub off it off vigorously. I accidentally left the scrub on when I went to answer the phone and the blueberries and raspberries in the scrub really seeped in. I had to use Kiehl's Pineapple & Papaya exfoliant to get off the purple tinge to my skin.

Love this stuff! I am again a product junkie. This stuff is so natural and holistic that it makes me smile everytime I think about it! The smell is lovely, the consistency is just how I like!!! I really hate scrubs that feel like it's really doing nothing but rubbing against each other, and doing absolutely nothing for my exfoliation! I am known to have some of the softest skin, and I am always looking to keep it that way. This stuff has my complexion glowing!!!! i'm a tanned/darker skinned girl about a NC45 and it just keeps my golden undertones beaming :) again love this stuff, and love this line!!!!

I love Arcona products, but this one did not work for me at all. This scrub is very harsh and gritty. It felt like I was rubbing coarse sandpaper on my face. When I rinsed it off, my cheeks were super inflamed. I am returning this. I don't really find a scrub necessary with all the exfoliation that other Arcona products give me anyway.

While I have several ARCONA products that have become HG, I can't use this gommage at all. I've tried at least four separate times and it's a no-go. It breaks me out each time. I don't think it's from irritation but more a matter that the Milk Caprylic/Capric Triglycerides are just too rich for my SD-prone face. I am prone to milia and clogged pores but not whiteheads. (yuck!) Thumbs down on this one - at least for SD-prones like me.

Arcona is one of my favorite skincare brands, and their cranberry products are exceptional. This scrub is concentrated and dry, but it delivers amazing results. My skin is left soft, smooth and glowing, without even the slightest bit of irritation. I also love the natural ingredients and gorgeous scent. I'll buy this over and over again.

My favorite product from Arcona. My face feels sooo soft after use, and it doesn't break me out or anything. I like the smell, and also love how it is all natural.

EDIT: I have found that St. Ives' Apricot Scrub does just as great a job--but at a fraction of the price.

I received the trial size and I love it! It very gently pumices away my dead/dry skin without harsh chemicals, it smells great (to me, anyway!), is all natural, and it really lasts. The ingredient list is wonderful.
The ingredients are:
Agua (Distilled Water), Jojoba Beads, Milk Caprylic (Capric Triglycerides) (Plant Oil), Hamamelis Virginiana Extract (Witch Hazel), Glycerin, Sucrose Stearate, Vaccinium Macrocarpon Fruit Extract (Cranberry), Vaccinium Angustifolium Fruit Extract (Blueberry), Red Raspberry Extract (Rubus Idaeus), Camellia Sinensis Extract (White Tea), Salix Nigra Extract (Black Willow Bark), Amino Acids, Volcanic Minerals, Silica, Grapefruit Seed Extract (Citrus Grandis)

I admit, I'm addicted. Beauty.com is really bad for my wallet. Ever since receiving a 1 oz sample of the product, I've come to love the (albeit weird at first whiff, blueberry - yes, blueberry) smell. And after continuous use for approximately 2 months, my pores have gotten smaller, my skin brighter, and overall my face smoother.

I've loved Clarins Bright Plus Gentle Brightening Exfoliator, but that is getting really hard to find. And, St. Ives regular was too rough, and the sensitive version not useful.

Pricewise, it's not too bad. The other 1.7 oz microdermabrasion scrubs are the same price as 6.7 Grommage. While the exfoliating particles in this product can be a little finer and a little bit less rougher, I'm still loving it. It works, so why change it?

Update: I have been using this for approx. 3 years, and love it. I don't use it everyday - that would be a little harmful to the skin - I use it every 2nd or third day. It is very gentle, and the trick is not to rub vigorously but in slow circular motion. You only need about 2 dime-size dollops for the whole face. One tube (the larger size $75 one) usually lasts me about 5 months. No broken capillaries or excessive redness (as with other harsher scrubs).

I originally used the Golden Grain Gommage. But it was way to rough on my skin. I had to use a healing balm for a week to get the redness to go away. I have extremely sensitive skin and that was what the Golden Grain was suppose to be for. Well I got this kind as a GWP from Beauty.com and it stayed in my drawer for months because I thought it would be the same thing. Well.. I decided to try it the other day..and..OMG I love it. I has tinny little Jojoba beads in it. I use it on my nose and I am not kidding, it got rid of all my blackheads. I am in love!! Now I don't know about really scrubbing it into my skin. I use very gentle circular motions. I almost press it in instead of rubbing. I have not had a reaction so far. Just beautiful glowing skin.

Perhaps I just have a strange sense of smell but I ADORE this product. I actually enjoy the scent but I can see why others may not.

My friend gave this to me because she has sensitive skin and was afraid she might break out. Her loss!! Yes the exfoliation is VERY gritty buy once I washed it off my skin was softer than a baby's ass. I have to force myself to wait a few days between uses because I don't want to use it up too quickly.

About me: my skin is a little dry but can get oily in the T-zone area. I do need to exfoliate routinely or I get a little dull and my skin is not very sensitive to new/rough products. If you have similar skin I guarantee you will love how your face feels after just one use.

Will definitely buy in the future.

I bought this product when it use to come in a plastic container...I liked it b/c you would use all of the product. Now it comes in a tube and I actually have to cut the bottom to make sure I get my moneys worth b/c it is an expensive product. It does work for me though. I really like it. I have normal to oily skin and breakout on my forhead and sometimes my cheeks but using this product 2 times a week or when I feel my skin needs a boost or feels extra oily at the end of the day. It definatley improved my skin along with the raspberry acne bar which I love and can not go without! I will def. purchase again.

Very coarse gritty exfoliant. I got this on Beauty.com GWP. I add a cleanser with it to dilute the coarseness. I thought it would irritate my skin b/c it's so gritty. My skin does like it.
I'll use it up but not repurchase. Maybe use it on my chest and shoulders.

This is a very coarse facial exfoliant. And I feel a film left behind on my face even after rinsing thoroughly. Very unimpressive product considering the hype and price. I've ended up using this as a body exfoliant so I don't focus too much on how much money I wasted!

Like the other reviewer, one of the first things you notice about this product is the smell. It is reminiscent of air freshener, but I don't hate it. It dissipates quickly, in my opinion, and I have a very strong sense of smell. Another noticeable trait is the color-it is a really pretty pinky purple color. I too got this in the Rachel Roy GWP from beauty.com, a very generous size sample of 2 oz. Back to the product-it is very gritty, almost as gritty as MAC's Microshine Refinisher. I used that product previously and while I do like it, it's too harsh for my winter combo skin. Whatever moisturizing ingredients this product has really makes the grains not as harsh. I use about a dime size dallop (the back says some crazy amount to use) and work it into my skin for about 45 seconds. Then I remove with a washcloth. I use it twice a week. It has really reduced the redness in my skin and my complexion has improved. It does pretty well at cleaning out pores and my skin is very, very soft after using, not dry and agitated. I would recommend this to everyone except those with sensitive skin-it will probably be too harsh. I think it can be diluted quite a bit with more water, however. Overall a great product that is my new fave exfoliant!

This product smells like cheap air freshener. The texture of the scrub is good, if not a little coarse, and it make my skin very smooth and glowy.

I got a generous sized sample of this in a GWP from Beauty.com, but do not think I will repurchase because of the awful deodorizer scent it has.
