I own this cream in a myriad of forms. I have this cream in the travel sizes (one is a 10 ml (.3 oz.) tube and the other is a miniature glass version of the new packaging with a metal screw-on cap (15 ml (.5 oz.)). I also own the old full-sized version (normal shaped cosmetic jar). I own the product in several different forms because I like to be able to tote the product with me comfortably in my makeup up (hence the 10 ml (.3 oz. cream), have a small quantity to stash at my boyfriend's house (hence the .5 oz. glass miniature one), and have a full-sized one available to me at home. I have to say that the packaging of all three is very nice and lends itself very well to a vanity table or a makeup bag.
I have sensitive, acne-prone skin that gets dry from all the acne treatments that I have to do. I needed something that would moisturize my face without making me break out further and without making my skin feel greasy. I tried this cream by accident and found that it was very soothing to my skin. It was especially effective when I had dead skin flaking off of my pimples, which only attracts more attention to them. This moisturizer is heavy, but I do not feel that it is greasy. It only has 25% shea butter, so it is moisturizes without feeling slick. This cream has never caused my to break out and I often use it over my acne medication to prevent redness and skin irritation. I have never had any kind of allergic reaction associated with this cream either.
One avenue worthy of investigation is the ingredient list on this product; although L'Occitane is committed to the production of natural/organic products, I find many ingredients on the list unrecognizable. It would be nice if they would offer a bit more transparency as to the function of the ingredients on the list, especially since this is marketed towards those with sensitive skin.

I've just hit the bottom of the jar and I definitely will repurchase!
This is a very thick, rich white cream with an almost buttery but firm texture and it moisturizes very, very well indeed.
Despite its initial heaviness (it takes a while to absorb after application, I rub the excess over my hands) it is never overwhelming and my skin is left soft, soothed and velvety with no flakes or dry patches. It's winter here so I've been using this as a night cream fairly frequently and I've certainly noticed a difference when compared with other, less intensive products.
The only thing that doesn't thrill me is the smell, it has a quite strong powdery sweet scent but it doesn't last once it's been applied so I can live with it.
The packaging is quite simple, yet functional, a heavy clear glass jar with a pressed metal screw cap which is nice and easy to use.
Relatively expensive for a face cream, but not super extortionate like the beautifully packaged Immortelle Divine cream also in the L'Occitane range, this is a wonderful bit of luxury for dry, parched skin.

I have just ordered my third jar of this product. As many other reviewers have said, it is excellent for protecting and nourishing the skin in the cold winter months, or if you have very dry skin as a result of hormonal changes.
I use it at night over a serum and on very cold days mayalso put a thin layer under a SPF15 moisturiser. It stops the skin from feeling tight and dryafter a day in an air-conditioned office.
The texture is quite thick and waxy (contains 25% shea butter) so the best way to apply it is to take rub some between the fingertips to warm it up and liquify it; pat all over the face and in a few minutes come back to it to massage it in if you prefer. A bit time consuming but worth it for smooth, supple, perfectly moisturised and comfortable skin. It's not the cheapest of creams but I find that I might use half a jar during the winter months and then put it away for next year.

I actually recieved two sample sizes of this and have been using it every morning and night religiously on my face for the past month and I am in love! My skin seems to drink this lotion, is the best way I can describe it. I love the scent and I love the consistency. I am saving up to purchase the full size, before the cold winter weather comes to Jersey.
I love that its not super oily and my skin just absorbs it completely. In the morning my face is sooooo soft and looks so radiant and healthy. I only have a left for 2 more uses so hopefully I can run out and get the full size soon. I love this stuff and as a girl with oily skin I feel this is not super heavy and dosent break me out. A bit pricey but I am learning that sometimes you really do get what you pay for. Drugstore moisterizers always break me out. Definitely have found my holy grail face cream, now I only need my holy grail cleanser. =]
I cant wait to try out more from L'Occitane. A special thanks to my husband that actually got me the product in the first place.

I have dry skin and am usually in air-conditioned environment. I have been using this for the last 2 months and it is indeed very moisturizing. I use it at night; and in the mornings, my skin doesnt feel tight. In fact it feels very soft, smooth and moisturized. The texture of this cream feels heavier compared to the immortelle very precious cream since this is after all "ultra rich" face cream. I think this is a good moisturizer for dry skin. I would re purchase it but will alternate with the immortelle very precious cream.

This is not a bad moisturizer. It doesn't smell bad. It is very rich and definitely moisturizes well. During the wintry months this was pretty handy. However, I would not recommend for acne-prone or oily skin since it feels heavy and filmy after wearing it. Very good for dry skin that doesn't have a lot issues (like my husband) although because it is does not have SPF protection, you'd have to wear a sunscreen on top of it as well. Overall not the greatest deal for the price.

I absolutely adore this moisturiser! My skin is normal/dry but definitely suffers from dryness in the winter months and with the past two winters being very cold (in the UK), I realised I would have to invest in my skin as it was starting to visibly suffer - dryness, itchy patches, redness and a couple of spots. The odd spot wouldn't usually bother me but coupled with the other problems, I was really starting to hate seeing myself with no make-up! So I finally parted with my £20 (bought from eBay; I believe this is a little pricier at RRP but I would still buy it) and waited for my little pot to arrive, having heard wonderful things about L'Occitane's Shea Butter range. It arrived and, unlike others, I wasn't at all put off by the thick consistency or the scent. I felt like I was really putting some serious moisture back into my skin. (For info, I was previously using Johnson's Daily Moisturiser for dry skin - fine for summer, not enough for winter). Of course, this stuff didn't work miracles overnight and I knew I would have to wait patiently to see results... and slowly, I did. The dryness cleared up, the redness followed and the spots disappeared with no more to follow. Now, at almost the same time, I also switched from using my usual Soap & Glory cleanser to using Liz Earle's Cleanse & Polich cleanser, so I'm almost certain that my skin came good from a combination of using a great moisturiser and a quality cleanser, so I'm not sure if this cream can take all the credit, but there's no doubt about it that this stuff is amazing. I notice it more in the evenings after cleansing. My skin used to appear red and slightly irritated after moisturising but not with this. I look fresh and radiant and my skin feels so comforted. I agree it is thick and very rich, and is probably not suitable for everyone, but I also use it in the mornings and find it fine to wear under make-up. I don't get any more oily during the day with this cream than I did with any other. I think the consistency is very different to many other face creams and strongly suggest that anyone put off by this should definitely persevere with it to get used to it before giving up - the results are well worth it if you have dry/sensitive skin. I will definitely re-purchase!

I have actually bought this product a few times. It's really moisturizing and very rich. but I do find it a little hard to apply because it is so thick (hard to spread). So what i do is apply toner or sometimes just dont wipe my face after washing and with little water thats left on my face i apply the cream over it and it makes the cream thinner and easier to spread

Love this moisturizer. It's very rich but I didn't find it to be greasy at all. The fragrance may be a bit strong to some, but I like it - it's kind of powdery. Nice product.

I like this moisturizer because it's super moisturizing and repairing. But, it's too much to use long-term for me; I break out a little from it. Not badly, but I don't want blemishes on my face. However, because of the shea butter, it's super repairing. I noticed my acne scars had faded, and the texture of my skin was very soft. The aroma is pleasant, and I didn't need to use very much. The Shea butter eye cream was too heavy; I got bumps under my eyes and in between my brows.

Highle recommend this product for dry and very senitive skin. I have a very sensitive skin as I usually use LR Posay and EA but this line of L'occitane does not break my skin out. I leaves my skin very soft, well-hydrated and healthy-looking. I give it 5 as it is one of the best moisturizers. I think my skin can't live without it!

This was not a bad product, per say, but it has room for improvement. After finishing off the entire pot, the product never really addressed my rosacea (chronic dryness (stayed dry), redness and inflammation). I also have a feeling that the shea butter was refined (which means it has less nutrients) and the overall amount of shea butter was only 25%; so you basically have a product that is jammed packed with who-knows-what-else. This moisturizer also contains alcohol, perfume, and parabens, so I was a bit let down by this as well. I won't be buying this again.

I don't even know what kind of skin I have. I'm getting older and I can't tell anymore. Somtimes I think I'm normal, then dry, then acne prone, who knows. One thing I do know is that its $38 for the jar of this cream. I've had it for 2-3 months and I haven't even used 1/3 of it after applying nightly. And I don't break out from it. I got it more for beginning to protect my skin as I approach my 30s.. and to help with hydration. Its very thick and creamy, but absorbs wonderfully. I love how soft it makes my skin, and will definitely repurchase when I am done with the jar. Sometimes I think when I am going to break out, I slather this on my skin, and its like the zits go away? Sounds weird, I know, but if I'm breaking out because of a lack of moisture, it would make sense. So who knows. But I like it. I've used Boscia's night cream, along with Oil of Olay so there are two products to compare it to. Both are good but neither as rich as this shea. Ask for a sample before committing to the jar to make sure you like it.

If you have sensitive and very dry skin, this is the night cream for you. I used to have dry cheeks and an oily T-zone, but now that I'm in my mid-20s all the oil from my face has virtually disappeared, leaving me with very dry skin year round. I bought this during an especially harsh winter and it's become a staple in my skin care routine. The cream is heavy going on, but sinks in nicely and doesn't leave me too greasy (I can go out in it, though it's for the non done up days). I've tried other heavy moisturizers, that left me with break outs and redness due to my pores getting clogged, not so with this. I use it every night (and on cold days as well) and I wake up with rehydrated and refreshed looking skin.

I normally have very oily acne/prone skin and would not buy such a heavy cream. But I have recently started Accutane treatment and needed something to quench the dryness. I favor naturally based products with little or no extra muck and chemicals. I love L'Occitane's hand cream and body cream so after carefully examining the ingredients decided to try this. It is, as it says, an ultra rich face cream. I love shea butter and this has like 25%. It is very, very thick but actually spreads nicely - not quickly - but nicely. It takes a while to absorb - but it does, and it doesnt leave you looking like a grease ball. This cream is for folks with very dry skin obviously, but in the winter time it may work for folks with combo/acne skin who need extra moisturization. So, for me it works. I'm actually still shopping around for another thick cream or balm that is more calming & soothing for the sensitive state my skin is in right now. But overall, this is a great shea based rich cream.

I suffer from very dry skin, so I thought this would be a good product to keep my skin looking soft. As far as keeping skin moisturized is concerned, this does a very nice job. Too nice, perhaps. Because I almost always get stuck with a too-shiny face. Highly recommended for night use (but sparingly). Not recommended for use under makeup, unless you have very very dry skin.
Does it nurture and nourish the skin? Frankly I have had more luck with other products from the same line. So this cream will work if you have nothing else on hand. But I am quite sure I will not repurchase this.

I bought this face cream one winter because none of my other moisturizers were meeting the challenge of keeping my skin hydrated during the day. This face cream contains shea butter, chestnut extract and wheat protein. This cream left my skin feeling so soft and it also smells really good. The cream is kind of heavy so you only need to put a little on to cover your entire face. I did not have to worry about my skin feeling dry and my makeup went on really well when I applied this cream. I may have to go back to using this one because I am having the same issue this winter.
