I adore beach hair and I've tried many of these types of products but this ones leaves my fine and slightly wavy hair greasy no matter how I use it. If I use just a tiny amount it doesn't bring out the wave and when I put enough on to get wave it weighs my hair down terribly and makes the roots look greasy which is almost unheard of for me. Worst of all I can't do anything else with my hair the next day because this spray needs be be washed out. I suspect the emollient quality might be better for thick hair. The salt spray from Bumble & Bumble works much better for a pure beach wave look. I definitely would not repurchase.

I love beach hair! This spray is amazing. I spritz it on, scrunch my hair and it looks amazing. The smell just screams beach. Great product! It may be a little drying, though, but for occasional use it's fine. I love it!

I am really disappointed in this product! I have been looking for a decent sea salt spray for ages. I saw this product in rite aid a year ago, and convinced my self not to get. A few days ago I found my self eyeing this product again at my local tj maxx. My hair product weakness got the best of me, i caved and bought this. Let me tell you, this product is horrible. There are so many things wrong with it. I have wavy hair but sometimes it just falls flat and looks dull. I hoped this would spice it up, my hopes where to high. It made my clean hair look and feel dirty and greasy like i hadnt washed in days. I used very little and it just weighed my hair down. This product basically makes my hair look and feel like 4th day hair. Its a shame, i really wanted to like it.

Love the concept, love the coconut scent, hate the result. Made my hair dull and greasy. And, it created more frizz than I usually have

Let me just say... be careful with this product! xD I sprayed it around my head and I accidentally inhaled it through my nose, it burned soooo badly!
Now, we can blame this on my own stupidity, but really I don't like this product. It did nothing for my hair, it's just sitting here limp and untexturized as always!

First off, I, along with a million other people miss JF Beachy Waves. That stuff was amazing. Why do they always discontinue great products? I found this alternative at Utla for 10 bucks and decided to give er a try. I'm mixed about it. It does the job, it creates texture but it also makes me a little frizzy on top. I like to use it near my scalp for that added volume and that works out well but the stuff stings. It stings my neck if I accidentally spray in on there and it stings my face. I think when I run out of this product, I'm going to make my own sea salt spray from the recommendation on MUA.

I'm very mixed on this product.
First of all, my hair is fine, with a lot of it and has a mind of its own. some days it is pretty straight and other days it is wildly wavy.
so I bought this to try and make my hair be wavy all the time and to give it a little texture as it is very slippery naturally and doesn't like to stay put.
By itself with no help (i.e. blow dryers), this sucks. It gives me texture but no waves.
With a blow dryer and diffuser attachment, it gives me okay waves but not fantastic.
But the key to the back door of making this product works is fantastic. First I wash my hair using a volumizing shampoo. I use a hydrating conditioner for my dryish hair. then I let my hair air dry between 75-90% of the way. I spray this all over and make sure it's evenly coated. I apply a mousse at my roots and CHI Silk Infusion on just the last 4 inches of my hair. (Sometimes I'll also apply Redken Anti-snap. I then do two French braids in my hair with my part off to the side. I then sleep on my hair. In the morning, I unbraid and stick my hands in at the roots and gently shake to loosen there but i DO NOT brush my hair. I touch up the pieces around my face with a 3/4" curling iron to make sure that they are going away from my face. I then have perfectly tousled waves then that do not have the super kink that french braids sometimes give, but instead looks like I just got back from the beach or off the sailboat as I am a little windblown looking in that sexy Sports Illustrated way.
This is my summer hairstyle that I will wear all summer as it is low heat and maintenence.
As for this product: It should do a better job than it does without the help.
It smells nice and coconutty and does not weigh down my hair or make it feel gross which is a plus as my hair weighs down easily because of the fineness.
I do think there are better beach sprays out there though. I think If this was on sale, I'd buy it again. But not for full price. I think I'd rather splurge and get Bumble and Bumble's surf spray otherwise.

I was pretty disappointed with this beach spray. I generally like beach sprays for my naturally curly/wavy hair for giving a bit of texture and volume but not too much. I used to use the John Frieda Beach Blond sea spray, which was great, and had a nice coconut scent. I thought that this could be a replacement for that discontinued product, but it just isn't as good. Every time I use this I don't really get all that much texture out of it, it sort of weighs my hair down, and rather than just a salty, coconut smell it has a pina colada smell that's heavier on the pineapple than the coconut.

I bought this at Sally's on the clearance table for about a 1/4 of the original price, it retails around $10. And I'm so glad I didn't give full price for this cause it was a huge disappointment. This done nothing for my curls, it felt like I had no product on my hair at all and offered no hold at all. It does have a nice beachy coconut scent though that's about the only good thing I can say!

This product does give some texture and volume to my long hair. If you put too much in your hair though, it will creates some flakes that look like dandruff. I also really dislike the smell. I love coconut and beachy smells and while this has a hint of coconut, it is mixed with some other smell that I find unappealing and musky. The smell lasts a long time too unfortunately. I recently found Herbal Essences Tousle Me Softly mousse, which gives me more volume and texture without the flakes and icky smell.

maybe I bought this product before it was reformulated, not sure.. but it left my hair very VERY dry. I've used the beach sprays by Aquage and JF and although some of them are kind of drying to my hair, none of them felt like this. It left my hair with a really dull coating and basically felt like I had coated my wet hair with hairspray. I have used the David Babaii whipped mouse for curls and loved the results.

Great for full, sexy, messy hair look. I really love this product. I have long, fine, blonde hair that lacks volume. I would wager to say, after about 2 weeks of use, that this is going to be an hg product for me, and I don't say that much. I spray this on damp hair and style, with dryer or by scrunching and it is awesome! I should mention that I also use this with the whipped mousse in this line which is also great. This helps my fine hair look full, hold style, give a little of a messy look, without looking dirty. In fact, even on day 2 and day 3, my hair still looks great! (I usually have to wash my hair every day, so this is unheard of!) maybe it is the sea salt? The smell is nice in my opinion, and not overwhelming and I love that it is cruelty free. More than I could have hoped for! Love it!!!
I will surely be trying more Babaii products- great stuff.

I'm on the fence about this product. It received so many great reviews that I just had to try it.
I have long, super-fine, chemically-treated hair. It gives me really nice glossy waves, but I notice after a few hours my hair feels slightly oily in areas, and dry/crunchy in others.
I think this is probably a great product if your hair is NOT fine and prone to the frizzies.

I was looking for a good beach spray and decided to try this since I like the shampoo and conditioner. Overall, I like the product. It works well as a beach spray and as a light hairspray. It smells nice (like coconuts) and feels natural. If you apply it dry hair, however, it sometimes leaves a bit of a sticky residue on your hair, which I guess is accurate to the feel of saltwater on hair, but it's still unpleasant.

I originally found this spray at Sallys but was told they would no longer carry it. I have also spotted it Target and Ulta.
I like this product. Firstly, it smells fantastic... just like the beach! I bought this because I thought maybe it would replace my beloved JF Starlit Waves. Sadly, it is not as fantastic as the SW, but it has worked well for me thus far. I haven't figured out the best combination of products to use to maximize this product, but as I mentioned it does its job for now.
I typically spray this on damp hair and use a gel, as well, then go on to use the plunking technique. I have wavy hair that is rather flat and straight at the roots and wavy as it gets to the ends (sorry for the wordy description. I'm not sure of the exact name of this type of hair!)
It does curl up my hair quite nicely and doesn't leave my hair feeling greasy. Winner in my book :)

I'm surprised the rating isn't higher, this spray is awesome! I've tried several salt sprays including Aquage (too drying) to John Freida's Starlit Waves (too sticky and heavy), and everything else in between. Sadly I never got to try Ocean Waves, but in retrospect things have worked out well.
I originally got this at Sally's for $7.99 with my member card. I primarily use it on my roots as a volumizer and then lightly spray all over for texture and scrunch. It works best for me on wet/damp hair. Supposedly you can use it on dry hair in conjunction with a curling iron, but I found this method leaves me with a sticky, limp mess.
I usually rub in some Rusk Wired or Radical creme after spraying, blow dry, and boom! My hair gets super fluffy with a tousled texture. My hair has never gotten dried out, no skin irritation, the spray smells like coconuts and the beach, and isn't terribly expensive for a beach spray. Currently on my second bottle and will definitely repurchase. Love it!

I bought this on sale at Sally's for $7.99. I love sea salt sprays, and this is a good addition to my styling products. It added great texture and seemed to perk up my curls. I mix my sea salt sprays with mousse for extra volume and it works like a charm. It helps the mousse to dry less crunchy. This one smells like coconut and it left my hair soft. The nozzle hasn't clogged up on me yet, and I find that this works best over wet hair for me. Worth a shot if you can find it on sale as these products are generally pricey anywhere else like Target.

came across this by accident... and i dont believe i'm the best candidate for the product, my hair is long, straight, fine textured but a lot of it, recently colored and thirsty.
i use very little on my long hair... approximately 4 to 5 sprays, on the crown & finger combed to distribute. I got a lil more body.... a really nice scent and my hair seems to fall nicely when i use this. i dont think i could use this other than sparingly.... but i liked the texture it gave my two day old hair before putting it up. the smell is summer... coconut fruity!
it's trying to be john frieda's beach blonde that was discontinued.... (which of course was an HG hair product for me) it's not.

This is my first full day in using this product, and I have to say that I am very pleased! My hair feels soft, smells awesome, and the beach spray really "activated" and emphasized waves and curls. Now, I do have to say that I first applied a pea size amount of Moroccan Oil to damp hair (a daily must for my frizz-prone hair). I have bleach blond, over-processed wavy hair that tends to "rise" in the humidity. So, I have to blow dry it (with Moroccan Oil and Bumble&Bumble Straight) every day, or wear it up to deal with the mess. Feels great to have options, and give my hair a rest from all the blow drying and flat-ironing. And, I love the fact that this product is free of Sulfates, Parabens and Petroleum's. UPDATE Aug 17th: I still love this product! But, I have found that it only activates waves and curls if sprayed on damp hair...does not work if I apply it to already dried hair. Here is a pic with it in-

I love this product for so many reasons. The most important reason is that it works very well for my hair. My hair is past my shoulders, on the oily side, has a natural wave to it, and tends to get a bit frizzy. I need some help to maintain the waves, otherwise my hair falls flat in a couple of hours. I use this beach spray along with an anti-frizz serum and my hair stays wavy, but without that crunchy texture. Personally, I love the smell. It smells like the beach to me. I'll definitely repurchase.
