I applied Mario Badescu's skin consulting and they gave me a bunch of recommendation for my skincare. Flower & Tonic mask is one of them and I was skeptical about it. Didn't want to buy a $18 jar so I got a sample.

I tried this two times and hated the result. Sure, it smells good, easy to apply on my face and easy to wipe it off after fifteen minutes. It feels clean after washing it off then next day... My skin feels so rough and itchy. There was tiny bumps on my chin area - yes, clogged pores! At first, I thought it was something else then I tried second time - same result. Rough, itchy and clogged pores!!! Ugh, never again.

received a generous sample of this from their company. i agree that it does leave a waxy film on your skin. i can see how many would freak out over this. i have combo skin prone to acne so this freaked me out a little (thank goodness i read the mua reviews first!). i patted my skin dry and it felt very balanced though! no tightness or dryness. maybe thats the purpose of the waxy film? my face just feels moisturized! i wouldnt buy this though-there are much better masks out there for less. the smell was pleasant and it dried very quickly. when taking it off, definitely use your clarisonic or a face cloth.

I received a sample of this product from a local boutique that sells the entire Mario Badescu line. I am pretty pleased with the results and am not entirely sure why everyone is complaining. This mask left my skin feeling baby soft, SILKY smooth, very clean and had a slight tightening effect. Unfortunately, the product did little to close or tighten my pores.

I didn't really notice an "oily" or "waxy" film like other users. My skin merely felt moisturized for a frew minutes, then that feeling dissipated and gave way to a slight tight and dry feeling, I think the reviewers who complained of the "film" failed to let the mask dry entirely, I would give this mask 30 minutes on the skin before removing. It also helps to remove this mask with a washcloth dampened with very warm water. Using your hands and water to remove this mask is difficult and will leave residue.

While I am pleased overall by the product, I think I would like to try samples of other Mario Badescu masks before committing to a full-size tub of this. I do think the Flower and Tonic mask is a good maintenance product for de-congesting the pores and pampering myself, but it does NOT perform miracles.

This is my favorite mask so far. I like the smell, texture, and the soft feeling of my skin after use. After I rinsed the mask from my face my skin looked fresh and clean (similar to after I exfoliate). I only do a mask about once a week, but so far this is my favorite one! I highly recommend this if you have dry, dull skin.

I'm digging it. And that "weird film" people are complaining about? It feels like my face is just plain moisturized once I remove this. I'm noticing that my facial congestion is greatly reduced, my pores look much better and my skin looks great overall after using this. To each his own. Try it for yourself and see if it suits your individual skin needs. It does mine.

I like this mask. It shrinks my pores and really does smooth bumpy skin like it claims to do. Face always looks smoother after I take this off. And YES it leaves a film, but if you just rinse your face well and leave it alone, it will dissipate. Use your Clarisonic BEFORE you use the mask. Using toner after taking off the mask will get rid of much of the waxiness. The film is not really a big deal - MB's whitening mask leaves behind a similar film.

Would I repurchase? Never. I bought this product when Mario Badescu was on Hautelook. I got so excited and bought this on impulse. What I should have done is read reviews before purchasing, worst $15 ever spent on a beauty product. The smell is okay, there is not really a particular or strong scent. However, it leaves a strange oily and waxy film on my skin ever after I have washed it off. It recommends that I wait 20 minutes before rinse, so I waited 20 minutes and washed it off. There was a waxy residue left behind that will not even come off with my cleanser. So the next few times, I waited longer than 20 minutes for it to fully harden on my face. There is an oily and waxy residue left behind despite the different ways I tried to work with this product. My clarisonic mia would not even run smoothly on my face because of the film this product leaves behind. I am giving it 2 lippies because the product itself seems fairly gentle and I have not had allergic reactions to it.

I used to use this mask about 2 years ago, and I think I used to like it then. But I bought it again recently and suddenly I really DON'T like it at all. I don't like the weird film it leaves on your face after I take it off - it feels like it's smothering my pores. And I suspect it of making me break out. It's hard to know for sure, because I occasionally get hormonal acne around the chin area anyway, but it feel like whenever I use this I get one or two little pimples on my chin. So it is going in the rubbish! There are way better and cheaper masks out there.

UGH! I DO NOT LIKE THIS!!! I got a sample of this and was excited to try it to clean the summer gunk out of my pores. Far from deep cleaning (as most clay masks do), this mask left my face with a strange oily, waxy film that did not wash off, even when I used a damp wash cloth. This sticky, waxy layer stayed on even after I washed my face two more times, with two different face washes. Only using my Olay facial brush and the enzymatic cleanser finally worked to get this grime off (on the third washing). I've never experienced anything like this before with any other product. It just WOULD NOT wash off. While many Mario Badescu products are great (love the enzyme face wash, and the cucumber cleansing lotion/toner), this is a definite NO for me. EDIT: I returned and took off a lippie. This is, like, 2 years later... But I was thinking about the ridiculous the layer of grime it left on my face and how hard it was to get the stuff off, and I decided it was officially a 1 lippie stinker.

i got a sample of this mask when i went into Kit to buy the silver power. the SA recommended i use this mask after my extractions (i use the silver powder first, then a pore strip, my clarisonic and then finally this mask) to close the pores again, because as he said there isn't any point opening/cleaning your pores if they're left open to gather dirt.
after i have removed the gunk from my pores this mask closes my pores right up again, it's amazing! an added bonus is the calming qualities, as i have extremely sensitive skin prone to eczema and redness. this has become essential to me, and i'm not even halfway through my sample yet! lasts forever the way i use it, is extremely effective, will definitely purchase!

It dried out my skin way too much and I do not have sensitive skin.... I guess if u are REALLY oily then give it a shot, but I am combo and it was not for me

I got this as a sample from MB and was not impressed. It left this waxey film on my face that my washcloth couldn't even get off! While it didn't break me out or have some other negative effect, I didn't notice it clarifying my complexion or helping overall oilyness and tone. Far better masks out there!

I love this mask! It makes my skin feel soft and refreshed afterward. I feel it does help with my pore congestion as well.

I had recieved this product as a free sample from the company, and after getting 7 uses out of that little sample jar and seeing how absolutely amazing it made my skin i was completely sold on it. my problem areas are on my chin and around my hair line and sometimes it gets so bad and painful and all i have to do is throw this mask on after cleansing my face and it soothes my skin and gets rid of my blemishes. it smells really nice and it's easy to put on and remove.

This mask is just OK for me. It smells amazing and feels nice and soothing, however, I'm not convinced it does anything to keep skin clear. Most masks are too harsh for me, however, so I like that this one doesn't burn like some "clarifying" masks tend to. I use it once or twice a month, and it seems to do a pretty OK job. I got a sample of the special mask for oily skin and I liked that much better. I plan on using this up first, though. I might repurchase.

This mask was so so. It does seem to temporarily shrink my pores right after using it. However, it definitely leaves a film on your face. After washing the mask off, I massaged toner all over my face, and I was shocked to see my cotton ball all gray and dirty, as if I haven't washed my face at all! (and I applied the mask after washing my face) I think for the price, it's not worth it. I'll stick with my Queen Juleup mint mask, which is wayy cheaper and more effective. Also, I'm not sure if it's the mask, but I broke out a lot around my chin and jawline for no apparent reason, and I haven't changed my skincare routine or anything.

Pretty good, Cleared up most of my breakouts and defanitly cleans everything out of pores. And btw my skin is hypersenstive (i have rosacea with occasion acne breakouts) and i had no senstiveity with this product, in fact it left it very confortable :]

I have already almost finished my second jar. This stuff is great, but (WARNING!!) it brings EVERYTHING to the surface. Any congestion will pop up, so I use Clinique's Acne System toner right afterwrds. It does work and it tightens a little, so if you want a tightener in a jar, this is for you.
Update: I have found that it's also great as a spot treatment for pimples!

I am sure it's made for dry skin.. because mine is dry and it worked wonders...The only mask that hasn't made my skin more dry and red in the winter time. I got a sample jar and if you dampen your face beforehand, a little goes a long way. It made my skin soft and didn't break me out at all.
