It's not a bad exfoliator but having to mix two ingredients and such is sometimes a hassle for me as I will forget to use the "activator" and just wash my face off after the crystals have polished! Also, there is twice the amount of activator as the polish! I might have continued to buy this had I not found Obagi zo exfoliating polish which I feel works 4x bettter! It has tea tree and such to help with breakouts and my skin is smoother than using neostrata. But zo is more expensive at $60, but worth it since it is so far the best exfoliator i've come across.

I wanted to wait until I've been using this for a week before reviewing this product so that I can more accurately tell you about my experience.
I want to start by telling that I have always had acne prone, problem skin since my early 20s. I managed it with proactiv but as I moved into my 30s, the benzyl peroxide stopped working and my skin started breaking out pretty consistently. I know that part of the problem was that my rate of skin renewal was slowing down noticeably and my skin was duller, more flaky and covered with small bumps and black heads.
I was skeptical about this product, as most of you who have probably struggled with problem skin are when promised a miracle peel, but I was running out of options because nothing was really working--and when I have bad breakouts, money is really no object and you try everything!
5 DAYS and 4 applications of this skin renewal scrub/peel and my skin is completely smooth!! I can't believe it. All my bumps have disappeared, some to most of my hyper pigmentation leftover from scars are gone, and a few of the pits from a bad breakout last summer are noticeably more shallow. I can't wait to see what this product will do for me in the next few weeks.
Neostrata has got to be one of Canada's best secrets. It's incredible stuff. This is completely comparable to what you would get from a professional peel. I just purchased the toning cream and the renewal peel tonight to complement the duo. I will definitely make this an essential part of my skin care regime moving forward.

This has been an absolute MUST for me for at least 6 years. I just turned 50 and even my Esthetician can't believe it. I only go for a facial once or twice a year (it's SO expensive...and time-consuming), but absolutely EVERYONE is always complimenting me on my skin & youthful appearance. I take extremely immaculate care of my skin through diet & home skincare. This duo is something I've been using twice weekly religiously for years. It doesn't take much time or effort, is dead easy to incorporate into your evening skincare regimen and I really notice how smooth & receptive my skin is to my serum & night cream afterwards. And, the results continue to be noticable for the following 2 to 3 days.
This duo is definitely an HG product I'd hate to be without!!! Some reviewers find it expensive, but I've been using the same duo twice a week for almost a year & just now need to think about rebuying. I'm always trying new cleansers, serums & moisturizers hoping to finally find my Total HG Regimen, but one product hasn't changed in at least 6 years, and that's my NeoStrata Microderabrasion Duo. I cannot recommend this highly enough. Do yourself a huge favour - RUN, don't walk, to your nearest SDM and get this dynamic duo!!!

I got this for free when I bought the Skin Peel Solution. I have only tried this once so far, it left my skin feeling SUPER smooth. However, I didn't notice that it did anything else. I am going try this again and see how things go.

In the case of this product you really CAN judge a book by it's cover. It claims to smooth out the surface of your skin and it really does. My skin is so much smoother and softer to the touch and it even looks more radiant (as though I've had lots water and rest).
So why then will I NOT repurchase? It's very expensive and you can get the same effect for pennies by rubbing in some baking soda and milk (or yogurt) into your face.

Amazing!
I have decided to make it a priority this year to take really good care of my skin and invest in some good products. I knew Neostrata was a great brand as it was once available exclusively at dermatologists offices so decided to give it a go. I bought this product about a week ago at Shoppers when it came on sale in a bundle with the duo, skin peel, and a lip treatment for $72 (the duo alone usually costs around $70). I probably wouldn't have initially tried had the price not been so great and the lady and Shoppers just gushed about it. Well now I'm completely hooked on the stuff having only used it twice!
After I used this product for the first time I could not get over how incredibly amazing my skin felt. I felt as though I'd just had an amazing facial and could not stop touching my skin! It's also amazing because whatever cream/moisturizer you put on after the treatment soaks up so much better than it normally would and can enhance the results of other products.
This stuff may be a little pricey but a little goes a long way and once you try this stuff, I don't think it's possible to go without.

I did not buy this product. I love it however, it compares favorably with my l'occitane brightening scrub. Its safe to use only once a week. You dont have to overscrub it.

So far I'm not very impressed. Just used this tonight and my skin does not feel any better at all. Actually, it seems to have "raised" my acne a bit and now my skin's all bumpy and red. I'll see how it is tomorrow morning and maybe in a few days try this again and see if there's any improvement.

WOW!! WOW! I am so impressed with this product. Used it for the first time today and I did not expect it to be THIS good! It made my skin so soft. I was looking for a product that would give my skin some radiance and this did....I thought the aspirin mask was good but this is excellent:)
Update: When I use this I don't need to wear foudnation for a few days as my skin looks great! BTW I am a medium to full coverage girl....
I know the ingredients are basically baking soda and lactic acid (milk, yogurt), so I tried my own homemade version with baking soda and milk and even though it worked fine, it didn't do what this product did. Follow up with Queen Helene Mint Julup mask and your skin will glow:)

I like this product, i really do! However, i tried it tonight for the first time. but i didnt realize before purchasing it that the main ingredient in the crystals is baking soda, and the acivator is lactic acid. so basically i could have just rubbed some baking soda on my skin and follow with some yogurt. My skin felf smooth yes however i know that baking soda can produce very soft skin when used properly so i feel i overpaid and will not repurchase.

I purchased this based on the reviews, and will agree with the big impact this has on your face the first time you use it. My face was looking a bit dull and rough...textured almost, so I thought about maybe going for a facial, but I don't have time to make it to the spa. I treated myself to the Duo set that came as a gift with purchase with the Skin Renewal Peel which is great on its own. Anyway, tried it once, and my skin was softer and had a radiance to it. It does leave the skin a bit raw, so a moisturizer is a must right after this.
One thing to remember when trying any type of peel is to use a good sunscreen. Sunscreen is important, but if you do a peel, it becomes imperative, as your skin is far more susceptible to UV rays and pigmentation occurs a lot faster. Overall, this is a big thumbs up from me.

See my review on the Microdermabrasion set from Neostrate. This is the same stuff, just not with the night cream and cleanser. I'd recommend the Microdermabrasian set if you are a first-time buyer, but I am buying this Duo myself instead, as it's more economical and I don't need the cream and cleanser from the MD set.
Anyway; this stuff does wonders for your skin. Makes it super smoothe and ready for a moisturizing mask or cream. You will look radiant.

I just purchased my third bottle and would like to share my thoughts on this product. It is not cheap but works really well. Within the first try, you will feel that your skin feels so much smoother. I only use this product once a week so this last forever for me. I think I only buy once bottle every year. I am not a fan of the packaging as there is nothing special. I highly recommend this product. I don't think this works for acne but it helps with improving textures and feels of your skin.

One of the best scrubs I've come across. I have only used it twice, and I can already see an improvement in the tone of my skin. I have some very old acne scars, as well as a few newer ones, and it already looks like the newer ones are fading. After I rinse my face, it feels very smooth. I like more abrasive scrubs, as I feel that the gentler ones don't do much to exfoliate my skin (my HG so far has been Mary Kay Timewise microdermabrasion system).
This duo consists of a tub with crystals, orange and smelling orangey, that you're supposed to rub on your face for 1 minute, and a tube of activator, that you apply on top of the crystals and massage for another 2 minutes. Then you rinse and voila - smooth skin! The slight redness it causes lasts about 2-3 minutes, so I can use this even before going out somewhere. The package says you can use it 3-7 times/week, but I think using it every other day should be more than enough.
I have to make it last as long as possible, because it is very expensive (about 70 CAD). Hopefully the long-term results will be same as Mary Kay's.

This product has changed my life!
What a thing to say for a first review.
This is a microdermabrasion system, essentially, which I didn't quite realize when I was purchasing it. You apply the crystals and massage for a minute and then add "activator" liquid and massage another couple of minutes. After you wash it off, the freshest, softest face of your adult life is revealed. No, seriously: I now have a major crush on my skin which is otherwise acne-scarred, lightly pitted and starting to wrinkle. But now it is SO SOFT for once. Makeup glides on like a dream--- I never thought I would say that kind of thing.
I'm using it every 3 days or so. My results continue to be good though not as dramatic as that first time!
Having used scrubs and exfoliators both chemical and manual for years and years, I didn't think this would do much. Oh, how I was mistaken!
Cost $70 or so at Shopper's. Neostrata periodically goes on sale, though. It's still worth every penny.

THIS IS A FANTASTIC PRODUCT!!
I use this duo twice a week because it makes my skin smoother, brighter, fades my freckles and acne scaring and scrubs away old skin that would normally make my make-up look lack-lustre.
This product is newly formatted. It used to come in a box set of 10 individually wrapped treatments for $61 dollars CND. Now it comes seperatley and in huge sizes for $70. This will last me 8-10 months. The crystals have a pleasent orange smell to them and the Activator smells like glycolic acid (no scent really).
I do this after I've cleansed, before I go to bed because it causes some redness because it is meant to be abrasive. The redness is compleatly gone by morning and you will have never felt your skin softer and more ready to absorb your moisterizer EVER. You want your products to penetrate? Use this. You'll thank me.
I've been using it a year and my freckles are gone. My pgimentation is almost none exsistant (I say this because I was out in the sun a lot this summer and some came back due to lack of sunscreen)
I will buy this forever! Long term it's going to prevent lines and wrinkles.
