I gave Montale's Black Oud Five stars, and it is a masterpiece.
This is a flimsy copy of the other. Slightly mimicking what is great about 'Black'
without any of its bravery or genius. Save your money and try Black Oud which is really an experience.

This is LOVE ! Yes, being Montale, there is Aoud in this but I can smell the white musk and there's a slight methloated hit from nutmeg- the amber and woods come together and it's quite seamless. Beautiful - it reminds me of Nasomatto Silver Musk which I have grown to adore. Wonderful.
EDIT : still there following a good hot shower- what does that tell you - good stuff !

I struggle to detect any musk, it's just oud and not terribly interesting unlike the masterpiece Black Oud. Musks are more miss than hit with me, maybe I just absorb them, so best to try first as a sample.

The good news about this fragrance: it's an aoud for beginners. The bad news about this fragrance: it's an aoud for beginners. Unlike most Montale's, this one does not have a strong, powerful sillage. It is more like a skin scent (something that just lies on the skin). Notes, per Luckyscent, are: white musk, nutmeg, aoud, teak wood, precious woods, grey amber, musk. I can't detect any musk in this, which is pretty ironic given the name. I smell a mild aoud, ambergris and a whisper of woods. If you want to wear an aoud to the office where people wouldn't tolerate the Real Thing coming off you in waves (luv it!), this might be a good option.
