Love it. It's dark. Mysterious and sexy.

Yes I love the colour but this polish is so super thin and runny it really does take 3 to 4 coats to get full opacity. On top of this because it is so runny, it is extremely hard to control so it slips down into the cuticles when painting. No repurchase from me I'm afraid.

This awesome medium grey shade is definitely in my top 3 of favourite shades. I'm usually not a huge fan of sparkle polishes because they feel gritty on and are a pain in the butt to take off. But this OPI one if fabulous! My nails feel smooth after it dries and the sparkle is fine, not big glitter chunks. I love layering this over other polishes as well. To wear on its own you need three coats but they dry quickly (probably due to the glitter in it). I probably use this one the most out of my *gulp* 50 or so polishes. Definite repurchase!

This is a nice change from the usual polishes out this time of year, as my toes are currently sporting Brand New Skates. It takes 3 good coats to get the color that it's in the bottle, but this is a lovely gunmetal gray with some fine shimmer to it that doesn't scream disco ball. A very classy shade indeed!

Brand new Skates is a gorgeous shade is one of my top shades during the fall/winter months. If you're looking for an incredibly unique charcoal/grey color, this fits the bill perfectly!
For me, this applied like a dream, wears well and just looks stunning. It's a medium grey, but what really makes this polish shine is that it's infused with very fine gold micro-glitter, making it eye catching without being tacky or "blingy". Definitely a huge hit for me!

For some reason, this is my go-to winter polish when I can't decide what else to put on my nails. It has a nice depth of sparkle that just makes me happy without being super-in-your-face holiday glitter.

What a gorgeous, unique color! This is a deep gray/blue/purple with iridescent shimmer. It goes on sheer but is very buildable, and the sparkles don't overwhelm at all.
One might shy away from a nail polish with "grey" in the descriptor, but really, this polish is better described as the color of the night sky just before the sun begins to rise. It's truly evocative!

The more I look at this beautiful gunmetal shimmer, the more complex it gets. I bought it for the gold microshimmer, but am now noticing green and red and maybe some other colors under certain lighting. This polish is a stunner. I just wish it were a bit more opaque; I need three to four coats to achieve the bottle color and opacity.

Great color, not too dark, doesn't come across as goth, and the glitter isn't overpowering :)

I am surprised with Brand New Skates. This color is from Holiday Collection 2008. The color is gunmental, dark grey with hint of silver, like a sort of granite/shimmer, it's very metallic. There are heaps of fine copper, green, blue and silver glitters. The application is so easy. However, the first coat does stuns me. It's so sheer that I said, "My God! How can I get the full color out of this bottle?" Then, I applied a little thicker 2nd coat and a 3rd coat is just perfect.
This color is really loveable. I don't find it's Christmasty at all. It's such a contrast to my light, warm skin tone that I find it's so gorgeous. It's good with black outfit too. I mean if you like color that is not traditional like red/pink/purple/brown, Brand New Skates is definitely one to have a good. It's not boring and it's absolutely gorgeous. Unfortunately this color is a discontinued color.

I'm becoming OPI addicted, nothing compares to the quality! Stays on great for a full week! (with top coat) I love this shade, was searching for 'grey with an attitude', 'fancy grey for a night out' and this is just it!
Although the color is not that 'mad', I leave it on for work:)
Does appear a bit sheer when applying it but after two coats it somehow goes on beautifully. Can't explain it, but I have a great full color that went on quite easy (same as on pictures here) and I'm a really clumsy polisher.

This polish didn't doo much for me. I don't like how sheer it is, and the color was just kind of blah on me. I am very warm-toned, though, so that could be why. I swapped this away.
Age: 36-43 Skin: Acne-prone, Fair-Medium Hair: Brown Eyes: Blue
Nice mid grey with gold microglitter. One coat looked tealish, two just wasn't enough, but three coats approached the bottle color.

I LOVE this polish so, so much! This is my favorite silver polish that I own and one of my top 10 favorite polishes that I own! From looking at picture I knew that I really wanted this polish and would like it a lot, but when I put it on I like it soooo much more than in pictures! This is a dark silver gray with gold fleck shimmer in it.. sooo pretttyyy!! and when outside I even noticed some copper/orange, green, gold sparkles. i loove this polish so much!

OPI's Brand New Skates is supposed to be a gun-metal gray glittery polish . . . and it is . . . on SOME people. I have seen pictures of this and it's just stunning. On my warm-toned pale skin with slight yellow undertones this had a distinct green hue to it. The first two coats were very streaky but the color was buildable. However, it took four coats to be near totally opaque. The glitter is microfine particles of silver, gold, blue, green, and pink, very fine and very smooth. The application was smooth after the first couple of coats and the finish was the usual OPI perfection. However, the overall effect on my skin was not complimentary so this one goes in the swap pile.
EDIT: Since my first go-round with this polish I have found the perfect combination to make BNS everything it looks to be in the bottle - I layered BNS over Revlon Steel Her Heart and the result is BNS bottle color - a shimmery, glittery gunmetal medium gray. I've changed my attitude toward this one, upgraded it to 4 lippies, and will be keeping it.

Love this color! When I wear it, I file my nails fairly short, because if I leave them the usual length, I get to looking costume-y. This is definitely one of those bottles that I look back and wish I would have gotten a back-up :)

This is a gunmetal grey polish with a shimmery, metallic finish. It is opaque with 2 coats. While I love the color in the bottle, it doesn't compliment my pale, cool-tone skin.

This is a polish from the 2008 Christmas lineup, "Holiday In Toyland". Brand New Skates was described as "a dark silver thatís cutting edge". This is a dark gunmetal-grey with heavy gold microglitter.
So, this polish is definitely different being a cool grey with a warm sheen. It's a wonderful color that I like to wear, that basically matches everything in my wardrobe. I do wear this often, and I liked everything about it. It applies well, although it takes a few coats to make it completely opaque. Which is not a big deal. It does require a topcoat layer or two to make it really shine, since it does dry rather dull. Other than that, I love it. I plan on buying it again online when I run out. :D

I really wanted to love this. I adore OPI anyway, and normally I snap up any dark grey / gunmetal style polish. Not to mention the fact I waited weeks to track one down as BNS is rare as anything, especially in the UK.
It was unbelievably sheer and took about four coats to get anywhere near opaque.
My boyfriend said I looked like I had witches' nails and even though you could see the shimmer in it quite obviously, I just felt it was a bit flat.
Maybe I need to try it again but overall I was disappointed with the bleh-ness - it just didn't really do it for me.

Honestly, this was my first bottle of OPI nail polish. It turned me into a polishoholic! Now, it isn't perfect, but it's pretty damn awesome! What it's really perfect for, is us chicks who used to be into black polish back in grade school, likes metal, but actually grew up a bit and got bored. This is cool, but intriguing enough to get someone who's older than 20 all giggly again!
