I've come to the conclusion that I just don't understand 90s perfumes. That, or somehow NONE of them smell good on me! I agree that Wish Chopard is kind of comparative to Angel, but Wish is not as strong and harsh as Angel. I can tolerate this scent- it's not overpowering, but not soothing or delicious in any way.

I've dabbed this on about 15 minutes ago, and I'm smelling oriental florals, woods, spice, and something creamy. I don't understand why perfumes like this one and Angel are categorized as 'oriental vanilla'. Vanilla is traditionally categorized as 'gourmande', is it not? How are Angel and Wish gourmande? Perfumes like Fancy, Fantasy, and Body Shop Vanilla remind you of food, not these...

I definitely won't purchase a full bottle of Wish- I bought a mini and I adore the bottle, so I'm keeping that. I'm only trying these 90s perfumes in search of a mysterious, wonderful oriental-vanilla perfume that my ESL teacher used to wear (1995-1997). I hope I'll find it someday! :(

Update: I will (sort of) eat my hat! I've grudgingly had this on for about 6 hours now and it smells... really good! I can smell the caramel, vanilla, honey and incense notes and my confusion about the 'oriental vanilla' term has abated. Pity about the patchouli note, which is the offensive (to my nose) dominant top note and remains in the drydown.

After most of the reviews and of course the ingredients I decided to try Wish. I absolutely LOVE IT!!!! Although most people say's it lasts and lasts, I don't think it does. I am a patchouly oil wearer so I'm used to a strong lingering fragrance. I find myself reapplying this often. Now I'm on the hunt for the perfume version of the scent. I first tried to find powder or lotion for layering, but they just aren't out there. This will be my signature scent until they stop producing it.

I WISH this smell would get the hell off my skin!!! Both men and women I know were utterly repulsed by it. Such a shame as the bottle was so pretty....maybe thats how they lured in so many people to buy this truly horrible scent.

I got Wish for a great bargain price so I thought I'd try it. This is one extremely potent scent with amazing lasting qualities and mega sillage (please use with care LOL). I used 1 spray on my arm and could still smell it the next day on my skin and my clothing. The scent itself is a heavy sweet oriental on me. I get incense as the main stand out smell (mixed with baby powder). I can see the comparision to Angel because of the strength and silver/blue bottle combo. But I certainly wouldn't say they smell the same. They are both individual scents in their own right. Don't buy it expecting a copy of Angel, IMO. Overall, I don't love it but it's a nice warm winter scent to me.

I hate this so much! I don't know what possessed me to buy it. I suppose it had something to do with the fact that it was the topselling perfume at the shop I got it from.. I honestly don't know how that happened. "Bleugh!" is my reaction when I smell this. It smells like.. cheap alcohol? I don't know. The bottle is so beautiful, so I was expecting a bright, fresh scent, but I find this to be very cloying and heavy.

I am really struggling to love this. Purchased based on MUA reviews, I read all and made mental notes. I have to say that this does open with a sharp pungency heavy on the turpentine, oops, I meant patchouli. The middle notes are softer but the patchouli doesn't really fade enough to allow the mid notes to shine. Those notes include vanilla, a sort of nutmeg and chocolate scent and amber with sandalwood. I see similarities to Angel but IMO Angel is lovlier albeit, overdone. I love cold weather incense laced scents, but this one just seems to try too hard to acheive that. I loathe to say this but I sense a bit of EL Youth Dew in Wish and I'm not happy one bit.( See my review) This, however is not as pungent as YD. I find myself applying Wish with the hope something in the drydown will magically change and suddenly I'll fall in love. This has yet to happen I guess all I can do for now is Wish.

Well, I tried this perfume because it's said to be a similar version of Angel - which I like - but cheaper. I can say it's similar in the only way -they're both very strong perfumes:-) Otherwise I think they're different league. Angel for me is mysterius, luxurius, seductive,yummy smell.
As for the Wish - I'm not good with the ingredients in scents - I just can't recognize them. So I can just say what my impressions are. Wish is very sharp strong scent - I see 40-something brunette lady wearing it, with bold fuchsia lipstick, leopard miniskirt, huge cleavage, tanned. That's what I smelled for the first moment- something like cheap, strong, trying-to-be-sexy-too-hard type of smell. Well but to be fair it changes during the time and after let's say 4 hours it became quite pleasant wearable and nice scent (BUT if applied reasonably I guess). There I figured why could anybody like it so much (I know it has a lot of fans). But I just can't stand the phase before it gets pleasant

This perfume smells like pure seduction for me.
It is the only musky perfume I found that works well with my skin. And it works really very well. To the point that I could never wear this perfume unless its one or two dabs on my neck on very special night-time occasions.
PLUS: This perfume lasts, and lasts, and lasts, and lasts.

Berries, milk, caramel, beeswax, vanilla, wood, what's there not to like? Unfortunately the strange combo of cocount - the dessicated sort sold among spices in supermarkets- and somehow medicinal patchouli ruin it for me.

just like baby powder, very powdery, when first spray it on my wrist it sniffs like incense , a bit vanilla and powder. Not something so sweet but a bit cloying , not just i image as i was in school.Im dissapointed

Firstly, the bottle is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen, and even if the juice was all patchouli and tabacco I would have bought it.

As another reviewer mentioned, Wish starts out quite bitter and then mellows into it's vanilla-caramel sweetness after an hour or 2 on the skin. The lasting power is excellent, a good 8 hours on my oily skin.

After around 4 hours on me, this becomes a soft, sweet skin scent- I get the amber, sandalwood and honeysuckle the most then.

I don't like patchouli and Wish has it, but it's not as pronounced as Angel so I don't mind. It can be a bit much in the first hour but it seems to disappear quickly.

This fragrance IMHO is best suited to quiet winter nights in front of the fire with your man

How I love this perfume! It was the first grown up scent I had, it was a gift from my grandmother. It is such a wonderfully warm scent. To me, it smells very similar to Viktor and Rolf's Flowerbomb. However, Flowerbomb is much sweeter, while this also has a more woody undertone to it. I definitely prefer Wish. I am really bad at describing scents, and I find this one even more difficult to describe, as there is not one note that I find the most prominent. I would definitely repurchase once I run out.

I really tried to love WISH; it contains so many of my favourite scent notes. Plus, I love how it applies bitter, and then dries down to a sweet, creamy vanilla/caramel scent. I do love the contrast between the top & base notes.


However, I had to give in; WISH is just too strong for me to wear. The notes of patchouli are especially overwhelming; it hits you straight in the face & hides the other notes for a good hour or so. When it's settled down, I do like the slightly powdery smell and then the creamy, soft sweetness, so I'm on the fence.
I think WISH would be nicely comforting and warming during autumn/winter, so I’m saving my bottle to update my review…
I do understand the comparions this perfume gets, WISH does remind me strongly of my Angel wearing years... I blame the patchouli overkill. To be fair WISH isn't as cloying or sickly sweet, but it'd be best to avoid in warmer weather.


The diamond shaped bottle is stunning & the staying power is excellent.


Scent notes: honeysuckle, wild strawberry, black locust, orange blossom, coconut, gooseberry, Brazilian rosewood, honey, violet, orchid, milk, heliotrope, lily-of-the-valley, sandalwood, amber, patchouli, vanilla, caramel and incense.

I simply adore this one.

It does have a lot in common with Angel and Flowerbomb, but is quieter and more reserved then both of those scents. It is sweet, but dries down to something heavenly - caramel mixed with vanilla, cream and cigar smoke (but a good smoky feel to it).

I find I can wear this in warmer weather and humidity without it being cloying, which is not the case for Angel.

Love the diamond bottle - looks fabulous on your dresser - and people always ask me what I'm wearing - and say it smells wonderful.

Beautiful - and classic - but definately not old or outdated.

Baby powder + sugar water. That's ALL there is to this. If I wanted to smell like sugared baby powder, I'd mix some at home myself & save the money. Anyways, I've never smelled Angel before so I can't say for sure whether Wish really is a lighter, more wearable & less offensive version of the former. The only thing I know is this perfume does not go well with my body chemistry at all. The Chopard website used to list the notes for their perfumes & though patchouli wasn't listed as one of the notes in Wish, I can clearly detect something 'off' lingering in the powdery sweet base among the amber, vanilla & incense, making me feel quite ill... & there's no doubt in my mind that it's the evil patchouli. You see, my skin & patchouli are not exactly on friendly terms... I came to this conclusion after the fiasco that was Miss Dior Cherie, a scary strawberry/patchouli combo that, strangely, smelled lovely on other women but became a sickly sweet, unpleasant mess once it came into contact with my skin. And Wish also seems to have the same effect on me. Really regret buying the 5ml miniature on eBay unsniffed as it wasn't exactly cheap, considering you can get it online for much, much less nowadays. And now, almost one year later, it's just sitting there in my cupboard, still more than half full (I'll just give it to my younger sister then, let's hope she likes it as much as the Miss Dior Cherie). Verdict: One lippy, but only for the gorgeous diamond-shaped bottle.

I purchased this product because it was said to smell like flowerbomb, which is a favorite of mine, but my friend wears it, so of course I had to find something else. I found this on ebay, for a great price so I decided to purchase without smelling first-what a mistake! This smells absolutely nothing like flowerbomb, or angel. To me it smells like baby powder/old lady. This smell is the same when I smell the tip of the bottle and on my skin. The drydown didn't really smell much like anything, which was at least better than when I first put it on.

I am just baffled with the comparisons to flowerbomb and angel.

Someone thinks this smells like Angel? It doesn't. Not remotely. It does remind me of Courtesan a bit, with a bright, complex almost make-up scented first-on. Then it dries down way too sweet on me into a sugary, cloying vanilla with a touch of patchouli. It's not bad and it would sure be even better on someone whose chemistry didn't turn everything over-sweet and sugary (which Courtesan doesn't, by the way). Just too much sweet, and this is from someone who loves Insolence. That should tell you how sweet this one dries down on me; Painfully sweet.
