I have super duper sensitive skin that's almost always red and I have severe acne. On the first use, it made my skin turn so red like a tomato, then dried it out so much that flakiness appeared. I used it for a week and saw nothing but bad things. I do not recommend this.

Clinqiue 3 step type 3 - So I am a person who is very conscious of looks, and I wanted my skin to be flawless with and without makeup ! Please NEVER buy this product. I was so upset by it. My skin is fairly clear , just get a few spots underneath the skin on my cheeks now and again. This product brought out loads of little pimples on my chin, which were extremely itchy, made the skin around my nose peel, the spots on my cheeks even worse and left me feeling very self conscious. So frustrating as I was so excited to try this product , thinking it would leave me with flawless skin, the complete oposit happened !! At first I thought it was just cleaning my pours and this was suppose to happen, but nothing got better it just got worse ! Such a waste of money! I am now trying to find a product with good reviews and that actually works so I can feel good about myself again. If anyone has any recommendations please let me no x

I am a teenager (17) and have combination skin that has constantly had pimples for years, i believe this product has been reallygood, especially the toner. I only applied it at night which was enough for me, but when i woke up in the morning my face felt somewhat oily or something after applying the moisturiser.

I'm gonna agree with the last few reviews. Do not buy these products. You will be so disappointed with the results.
I couldn't wait to get home and try these products. The first couple of times I used it I thought ok maybe there's a slight improvement. The woman did say to use it for 28 days as that is how long it takes for the skin to regenerate itself apparently. After continued use my skin become very irritated. It was sore, my skin started to peel and it did nothing to improve my skin. Complete rubbish.
I guess everyone is different but anyone with sensitive skin is best to stay clear.

Sigh, here we go. Let's just start out with a summary. DO. NOT. BUY. THIS. SET. I used to work at a place with a Clinique counter and all the girls I worked with ranted and raved about how amazing this system was. I have incredibly dry skin that just cannot get enough moisture but is pretty tough on all accounts. I usually scrub as hard as I can with my regular cleanser and exfoliator and I've never had any problems or reactions to that process. But I figured maybe I should get out of the drug store brands and into something more high end. I bought it while they were doing their gift with purchase and I got the set and I think it came to $68 altogether. I nearly choked on the price but I figured hey, if this was gonna change my life like everyone said it would, I might as well give it a shot.
I could write sonnets, novels, dissertations, and encyclopedias about how much I hate this set. So let's break it down product by product!
Liquid facial soap:
This literally felt like hand soap. But like the cheap gas station in the middle of no where hand soap, not the creamy dial soap. When you rubbed it between your fingers, it made this weird squeaking noise. Then when you got it on your face, it didn't lather at all, and I kept feeling like I should put more on my skin, only to have it disappear.
Honestly, I don't really think they put anything else in the bottle besides rubbing alcohol. I've tried toners from Lancome as well as Elizabeth Arden that were in the same store and they felt more like milk rather than water. I also think that the toner is what killed me. It always burned whenever I put it on, even though I made absolute sure to 'sweep it on, not rub it in', just like I was told.
Dramatically different moisturizing lotion:
Ah yes, the moisturizer. This stuff was the famous part of the collection. However, it was incredibly thin. Again, just like the cleanser, Dial soap is thicker by a phenomenal margin. I felt like I couldn't get enough on my skin and it was just...disappointing. Perhaps it's because I usually use the Cetaphil moisturizer meant for eczema, cracked heels, and as an overnight moisturizer.
Basically, I used this stuff religiously, twice a day for 18 days in a row, I believe it was and by the end of it, my face had literally cracked. I had what looked like rug burn on the tops of my cheeks and chin that burned like a mofo when I used the toner, my forehead was flaking off like crazy, my skin felt tight, dry, and sore, and I had to exfoliate my eyebrows (I don't normally touch my eyebrows when I wash my face) because there was soooo much dandruff in them, a problem I've never experienced before. On one of my last days using this product, I walked into work and one of my co-workers legitimately gasped and asked what in the hell had happened to my face and if I had rosacea.
It took me a solid two months to get my skin back to normal and even now I still find that it's a loooot drier that it was to begin with. Before I would use my Cetaphil stuff at night and then a lighter Garnier or Clean and Clear moisturizer during the day but now I can't use anything thinner than the Cetaphil stuff during the day or night. This product is honestly absolute crap, spare yourself the pain and your skin the torture of using it.

Just had to leave a review for this stuff - it's so awful!
I have combination skin with mild acne and although I hardly ever find products that make me say 'wow' and really help my skin, I never have that badder reaction to anything either... Until now!
The cleanser left my skin feeling tight but then so do most cleansers so I didn't think much of it. But the toner! Oh my God! It smells like cheap vodka! Why I put it on my face, I don't know... But anyway, I did, and it's so strong it made my eyes water! So I persevered for a few days but I just had to stop. My skin has come out in painful spots/blister type things which I've never had before. So upset!
I'd recommend anybody to stay away from this. Even if your skin can hack it, there has got to be far gentler products out there that can do just a good a job!

I was in dire need of refining my skincare routine. So my good girlfriend recommended I try Clinique.
First off, I have combination skin. Ridiculously oily T-zone, and dry in the cheeks ( during winter). My skin is very sensitive and as I was in the market for a new skincare regime I ended up getting samples from sephora.
Before trying Clinique I tried korres 3- in1 cleansing milk and although I liked it I had to pack it in because it made me breakout.
Anywho I tried Cliniques facial soap in mild, clarifying lotion in 3 , and dramatically different + moisturizer.
I had amazing results, not only did my skin clear up in record time, it has remained clear since then. That was over a month ago!
Annnnd my T-zone isn't this oily mess anymore.
*** one thing I did that I recommend, you should mix and match and personalize your skincare routine. I'm between a two or three in their system. So I've mixed the mild soap, with clarifying lotion 3 ... You get the idea.

I use the mild cleanser and the moisturizing gel and pair it with the acne clearing clarifying lotion. It all together clarifies my entire face and my skin is amazing!

Works superbly! Changed the condition of my skin. I recommend buying the 30 day set for $26 because your skin will not stay the same. I used to have super oily skin. Not even Milk of Magnesium worked for more than 2 hours. I started taking care if my skin with this 3 Step system. After my one month supply was done I no longer had super oily skin, but combination. So I repurchased but bought the system for combination skin. Now I have normal skin. 90 days of religious use changed my life. I love my skin and continue to take care of it with Clinique. Its the secret to my flawless makeup. Thanks Clinique!!!!

I decided to try Clinique 3-step when I started breaking out in cystic acne at age 16-17. drugstore brands were NOT helping at all, and Clinique is one of the cheapest department store brands. I have been using this for 9 years now. I WILL NEVER BE WITHOUT THIS. here are my tips if you want to try it!
- don't buy the pre-packaged SETs because they tend to make generalized "assumptions" about skin types. continuously test each product strength INDIVIDUALLY to see what works for you. e.g. I have sensitive, combination skin now, so I use the cleanser for dry skin (Extra Mild), the toner for normal skin (Lotion #2) and the moisturizer for oily skin (DDMG).
- it takes time to see results, and make sure you adjust when you DO see results. Lotion #3 helped decrease my cystic acne for 1-2 years, then finally helped to cease it after 4 years. after my skin returned to normal, healthy skin, I dropped to Lotion #2, because #3 was way too drying. I used to use the cleanser for oily skin when I had acne, but have since switched to extra mild
- I believe the toner is really important in clearing up my cystic acne, despite the reviews that it is harsh. I still need it now to maintain my skin's condition. it perfectly cleans every last vestige of cleanser, makeup, dead skin cells, and bacteria off my skin, twice a day.
as a skincare and makeup junkie, I've tried many other brands (estee lauder, avene, alpha-H, body shop, etc), but I always revert to this. im sure I've used more than 10 each of the cleansers, toners and moisturizers. it genuinely works well for me and I customize my product selection based on my skin condition.
I can really feel my skin incredibly healthy and radiant when I use this range. when I switch to other brands my skin is less smooth, feels "rubbery", and develops tiny bumps. I owe my renewed confidence and "cured" skin to Clinique! <3
