The color is a warm, earthy rose and looks very good on my skin (light and olive). It applies smoothly, doesn't dry out my lips, tastes decent (not horrible, not great), and wears very well. Not a top-10 lipstick, but still good.
The packaging definitely needs to be changed: the dagger is cute as an imprint on the bullet, but not cute when it's metal and sticking out of the end of the case. That dagger plus the already bulky packaging means it's the largest and heaviest tube of lipstick out there--not a plus at all, especially when trying to tuck it into a pocket or small makeup bag. UD should focus more on improving the lipstick even more, than on over-the-top packaging.

My lips are normally very dry and most lipsticks highlight my flaky lips. This lipstick is very hydrating! I thought the color might be a bit dark for my skintone, but it's very flattering on my pale skin.

Horrendous taste! Whoshore described it well, since I actually thought it was tampered with/poisoned until I read the reviews. It sounds dramatic, but it was that awful. Like very strong, bitter medication. I generally like lipsticks with an unpleasant taste, since it keeps me from licking it off. I must have bought an extra-strong one- I put it on once, tasted it, then felt nauseated the rest of the day. The little sword attachment on the end is another "wtf?" detail. What's the point? It's so sharp, it might tear up a purse lining or coat pocket. I love Urban Decay eyeshadows and liners, very disappointed with this. It's almost as if nobody tested it before releasing.

Whoshore's review KILLED me. Who could not find that helpful? Maybe someone from UD clicked no...but I digress.
Everyone is spot on, this color is a dream. Just enough warm color to not look washed out, creamy feel, perfect coverage, and then you taste it. What IS that? Blerghghhh. I have never tasted rubbing alcohol or nail polish remover, but I'm pretty sure it tastes like Urban decay's Sellout lipstick. Just as an experiement to see if it's just that shade, I am wearing Midnight Cowboy lipstick as I type this and yep... it's kinda funky too, though not as bad.
(Grandma voice) I remember when Urban Decay first came out with lipsticks and polishes, I do not remember them leaving a pill residue taste in the back of your throat...well, the lipsticks, I mean. Anyway, I am not not mad. If they fix this taste issue, I'd have a HG lipcolor.

Love this shade. I am medium/tan and this just looks so naturally gorgeous, perfect MLBB. It's very sheer, so it actually looks like my lips are that colour, rather than like I have a coloured creme on my lips.
The packaging looks nice, but very impractical with that sword.
I too notice the smell/taste that everyone mentions, and have absolutely no problem with it. The smell is a bit like liquorice, the taste is rather bitter. I love it. It sort of reminds me that I'm wearing Urban Decay, if that makes any sense. The line was created to be edgy, and they've since moved heavily into the mainsteam, but I like that they still have edgy names, way too much glitter in their shadows, unusual packaging, etc. The chemical taste just seems to be in line with that. Plus it keeps be from wanting to lick my lips. Besides, I can't stand that annoyingly nauseating vanilla scent that everyone likes about MAC lipsticks, whereas I love the fig smell of Estee Lauder lippies that people seem to not like. Personal preferences are random. Just be sure to smell and taste this lipstick on your lips before you buy it, in case the smell/taste bothers you.

OK I thought it was just me. I just bought Urban Decay's Sellout for the first time hree days ago and keep getting this horrible taste when I put it on.
At first I thought it was the lip serum I was using underneath.
I have never used this brand before and my first thoughts were how I like the look of the color. But everr time I get an accidental taste I think what happens when I KISS someone for the first time. This is what they get to taste!
I am surprised I didn't notice the tatse when I tried it on in Sephora.
I read in some reviews how some people have gotten use to it. I don't think this is something you should just get used to. They need to change their formula to get rid of this bitterness.
I have NEVER in my life had lipstick that had an after tatse . They really need to fix this.
If not for the tatse I would have given it a much higher rating.
Which is a shame becaue the color is so great, works on all skin tones which is why I didn't rate a one which is what it deserves for this horrible taste.

This was a very natural color on my lips. As many have said, MLBB. I actually got this color as a sample a few years ago and loved it. I plan on repurchasing a tube when I get the chance to. I don't remember the scent/taste of it so we'll see! Usually that doesn't bother me.

I really love the color of this one. I haven't noticed any bad smell or taste with it, but I don't have a sensitive sense of smell or taste. Very smooth going on, great staying power and a beautiful shade that looks very dark in the package, but goes on quite light. I don't care for the sword thing on the end of the packaging, but love the purple decor!!

I agree with everyone else on the taste of this lipstick. It is a horrid chemical taste but, not all UD lipsticks taste like that. I own the shade "Voodoo" and it doesn't have that bad taste to it, it doesn't taste like anything at all. I thought really long and hard about what color I was going to buy because I wanted a nice matte neutral that wasn't too light for my skin tone but wasn't too dark either. This shade actually works very well for me. I don't agree with those who don't like the smell of it though. I love the smell and I actually catch myself sniffing my lips when I am wearing it lol. I love the staying power that this product has. I keep buying them for that reason. Its a big plus if the lipstick that I am wearing can last for hours and thats mostly why I like this product.

When I tried this on, I thought I received an expired product as the taste was horribly bitter. But I have to say, the colour is perfect! It's exactly the shade of nude that would flatter warmer skintones. I suppose the horrible taste makes sure that I won't be tempted to lick the colour off. I will not be trying other UD lippies until they do something about the taste though, but I will finish this tube since the colour is awesome.

I love the color and the finish of this lipstick. It has a gel like consistency to it, making it feel very lightweight on the lips, yet with nice coverage. My lips are very pigmented, this is a perfect nude and the coverage is good with a pretty sheen to it. It would get a 5 lippie rating except for the terrible chemical taste to it (I don't know, maybe that's a good thing. I'm learning not to lick my lips!), the crazy packaging (I love UD but I abhor purple and lavender), and the price. FYI, I've found Clinique's Different lipstick in Guava Stain to be more moisturizing and I think at least $6 cheaper and very close in color, perhaps a bit more pink. There are so many lipsticks out there to try, not sure if this is good enough to repurchase.

This stuff is horrifying. I was trying to find something similar to a discontined color in another brand, and this looked like a good match. I got home, tried it, realized the coverage and color intensity was rather wan, and then I got the most horrendous taste in my mouth. I rubbed it off because I was certain I had a tube of tampered lipstick. Thank goodness for MUA -- I came over here, read the reviews and was saved a call to the poison control authorities. The person who said it tasted like nail polish remover was spot on. it is vile. Plus, the packaging is absurd. That little metal sword handle prong decor on one end would rip the crap out of my handbag lining. It would make a good self-defense weapon -- if you didn't cut your attacker with the prong, you could just rub the lipstick on their mouth and they'd probably think you just poured poison down their throat.

Man I can't get over how great this is. I know it's a bit pricey, but this is the best nude lipstick out there! It looks really scary in the tube (a really deep burgundy), but on my lips it adds a nice warm pop of color and shine. It's extremely moisturizing and personally I like the smell. I didn't notice a bad taste, but that's just me.
All in all, go out and get this if you have the money.

I liked this color - I'm always looking for berry/red/browns. The formula was sheer and creamy which I also liked. The smell was bad - like a burnt sugar, and the taste was bitter and horrible.

Like many others here I recieved this lipstick as a sample. I am most grateful that I did not actually buy this product. The color is a rather unflattering shade of brown on my lips. It makes me look quite severe and grim. The smell is artificial, but it is nowhere near as bad as the taste. It tastes *exactly* like nail polish remover. Absolutely awful. Even after I removed the stuff from my lips the taste remained and insisted on staying an entire day. I won't be trying any Urban Decay lipsticks in the future after this experience, that's for sure.

I got this as a sample with another purchase and at first glance, I thought it would be way too dark for me. I like sheer, subtle lipsticks and by all accounts, this was going to be anything but those things. However, I tried it and it is a beautifully sheer neutral! Yay! It works great for my skin tone and based on how moisturizing it is, I will definitely purchase the full size of this lipstick.
I see that some have complained or commented on the scent. I actually only noticed it when I smelled the tube and not when I am wearing it. So it has been no problem for me at all.
This is a great lipstick in a gorgeous color. I will repurchase but I took one lippy off as it seems I will be paying a premium price for it.

UD's lipsticks are not worth the price, the color range including this one (which is a sheer rosy ylbb brown) are plain and mediocre, they jacked up the price from $12 to $22 come on so not worth it, infact it's just plain wrong because their $12 lipsticks has a wide variety of colors, creamy and full coverage these new lipsticks are a rip off of mac's lustres nothing edgy or new hell even their sheer black lipstick doesn't look black but plum on the lips boo! if you want unique but high end try MUFE or Illamasqua, and they're cheaper.

EDIT: I got a new tube -- TOTALLY different flavor results. I applied this lipstick and kissed my boyfriend when I got home from work and both of us noticed a horribly unpleasant bitter taste. I thought it was from his mouth; he thought it was from mine, hahaha. I then realized when I licked my lips that it is from this lipstick. I took one star off.
I'm so surprised by all the negative reviews of this! I love love love it. It's my new HG neutral lipcolor.
So I got a free sample from Sephora online like some other reviewers (actually just picked up the actual tube today!). The swatch is a bit misleading, sort of a fig-brown-dark-plum color. But when applied, the finish is a semi-glossy and sheer neutral that dries matte, even though Urban Decay describes Sellout as "full coverage cream". It is not full coverage at all, but I like it that way because I don't need a mirror to apply it. Just touch up and go! Total my-lips-but-better lipstick. I'd describe the color as a neutral warm rose that isn't too pinky, just with notes of red and brown, but very sheer. I find the lipstick itself very, very moisturizing. I don't have to keep applying lip balm or gloss anymore -- and I LOVE that.
Seems everyone hates the scent... I actually really like the scent, but that's just me. Also, everyone seems to hate the taste, but it seems like Urban Decay reformulated or something because I find no unpleasant taste at all, just the taste I get when I lick lip balm: no taste. All in all, I love this lipstick and will buy again!
