So Scarlet is a dead sexy, deep blue-red. I wouldn't describe it as a berry red- it's not pink enough, and it doesn't have the slight brown undertone most burgundy lipsticks have. I love wearing it in winter when my skin is super pale, but I think this color would look great on anyone.

(C5/NC42 for reference) I've been on a red kick lately. So I've tried this, Ruby Woo, Dubonnet, Red Hot (which looks like a SATIN Russian Red), Brave Red, M•A•C Red, Lady Bug & Russian Red. Guess which one is my favorite. LOL! I am so in love with So Scarlet. It looks the way I expected Dubonnet to. Ruby Woo is my HG pin-up red, but I think that So Scarlet may be my HG red PERIOD. Although, I have to mention that it's not a TRUE red. It's more of a berry red. All of the pics that I've seen online just don't do it justice. This is definitely a lippie that you HAVE to see in person to really appreciate how gorgeous it is. FYI, in the tube it's looks darker & brownish. I received mine in a swap. So when I opened it, I thought to myself, "Why did I want this?" But when I tried it on, I fell in LOVE! I actually didn't even know that it's LE until today. Which makes me sad, because I would definitely repurchase. I really hope that it gets re-promoted before mine runs out.

This wasn't what I expected. I thought it was going to be a vivid blue red, but it's actually a creamy berry colour. Still nice and I would definitely wear it (probably more than if it had been the true scarlet tone I was expecting) but I did have my heart set on something serious red.

I have it on now and it's already drying my lips after 5 min, so lipbalm is def a must.

So Scarlet is a dark berry-red on me (NC44). I love it paired with a very neutral eye! Gorgeous!

The texture of this lipstick is much like the texture of all the other MAC lipsticks I encountered; creamy, buttery-smooth, moisturizing and easy to glide on. However, the color was a little too dark for my liking and made my look a little vampish. However, I could easily see other ladies with darker skin pulling this off quite nicely. It also stays put for the entire day.

LOOOOVE this lip color! I have a ton of red lipsticks, most by MAC, and this is far and away my fave. It's bright yet deep and rich, with no orange-y undertones. Whether dressed up or just wearing a pair of jeans, this lipstick makes it all look chic. Yes, it's a tad drying, but I'll deal with it,

It's a bold dark red in the tube but it transfers on the lips into a deep raspberry color. Not what I was expecting. Also I think it's pretty drying on the lips (Amplified).

This was my second red lipstick, this is such a great deep whine type red, I just love it. it is an amplified creme, very prigmented. Is a little drying as most red lipsticks are. It is the perfect lipstick for evening looks or if your a crazy like me any time wear. I just wish it wasn't limited or that there was a color really close to it.

Finally .. the search for a "HG" red lippie has come to a screeching hault. So Scarlet was limited edition (of course .. most MAC is!!) and it IS So Scarlet! This is a gorgeous red that just brightens my face. I love wearing this with something more simple like Electra or Silver Fog on my eyes .. fling on some black liner, a slight touch of Mocha blush and voila .. classic retro glam! So Scarlet applies very smoothly, has the classic MAC Vanilla scent and makes my teeth look *white*. A definite gem in my lipstick arsenal!

i adore this shade. i was a bit nervous to try out such a dramatic shade with my fair skin and auburn hair.. but the color makes my brown eyes pop (sounds strange, i know..but it's true!) and really brings out the color of my hair as well. i love love love this shade.

This is the first lipstick that I've bought from MAC in years, as I normally stick to their glosses, but the color of this was just too gorgeous to pass up. I really love it.

I am NW15. This color is LE with the August 2008 Cult of Cherry collection. The color description is a clean grape burgundy. It is an Amplified Creme finish. I've been obsessed with red lips lately, so I had to pick this one up. This isn't actually a true red lipstick though - it is definitely more of a dark berry red. It's lovely either way. I line my lips with Cranapple Cremestick Liner, apply So Scarlet, and then top it off with CoC lipglass. It's a great fall lip. Since it's LE, if you're looking for a dupe, Urban Decay Gash (the new lipsticks) is very close in color. The texture of So Scarlet is great - creamy, smooth, pigmented. Lipsticks are $14 each. I love this color so much I'm contemplating a backup.

I really love this color and the amplified cremes are amazing so that a huge plus, this is a great color for this fall with the whole drama trend. This is more of a dark dramatic red that some people may find overwhelming but it is non-the-less beautiful.

Want the dupe for so scarlet? It's $3.99... I know, I was amazed at the quality and color. It's long lasting and glides on. NYX jumbo lip pencil in Narcisse. Is a merlot color and VERY close call to tell these two shades apart... It's worth a try to see if it lives up to the MAC color. I also think since it's not LE like the MAC, it's a good choice. I am not into dark lips, but this color pulled me in. I cannot stop staring at my lips. It's like a liner and lipstick in one, so it was incredibly easy to shape and fill in.

Gorgeous color. I love red lipsticks. MAC describes this lipstick as a grape burgundy. I would say that is a good match. Maybe even a reddish burgundy. I don't like wearing this color alone because I think it's too dark (I prefer lighter colors) so I use the Cult of Cherry lipglass over So Scarlet. Cult of Cherry lightens up So Scarlet and gives it more of a red color. For reference I am an Asian, NC 35 (Studio Fix powder).

This lipstick is so gorgeous, perfect for Fall. The sad thing is that it is limited edition so you should buy two at a time. I love this color and I would most definitely buy a back up.

So Scarlet is the perfect color for those of us who prefer a deep, berry red. It reminds me a lot of Urban Decay's Gash, but it goes on smoother. I actually find it surprisingly creamy for such a deep red.

Blot it for a sweet perfect daytime raspberry red, or just swipe it on for a glamorous evening look.

I love this color! It is an intense deep berry red. Very pigmented and great staying power, a tad dry though. I love it because its so different and versatile--you can layer it on straight from the tube and get this gorgeous deep scarlet color or blot most of it off with a tissue and your left with a beautiful berry stain. I usually shy away from this kind of color and stick with pinks and reds but this color stood out to me as as something fun and different. It is PERFECT for fall and winter. This is a great alternative to the same old reds out there. I also like the way it compliments my very fair skintone---NC 15. Yay MAC for coming out with a gorgeous and truly unique color! HIghly recommend

EDIT: Its a gorg color but I do not reach for it very often, not an everyday color by any means! My lack of wear or care makes it lose one lippie. Will not buy again because I will never finish this tube.

The MUA'ers here have really nailed this shade. It is far too wet of a formula for such a deep wine shade, and it slides all over the place, with little staying power. It is not aptly named, not by a long shot...since when is a shade reminiscent of a glass of merlot like scarlet? Scarlet is a true deep red, and that definitely doesn't describe this shade at all. If anything, Rapturous mattene comes closer to scarlet, yet I still don't think it's scarlet either.

I noticed there were comparisons made with Rapturous. I agree that both shades are similar. Yet I think Rapturous is more of a deep red with berry, and SS is more of a wine shade. I thought this shade was somehow a smidge more "dull" despite the wetness of this formula, I guess because it has that splash of plum.

I think this is a lovely shade, but I didn't get it because I thought it wasn't incredibly special. Besides, Rapturous snuck in and stole my heart, and with a better formula too...
