Wow I love this color! I have been looking for a sheer-ish warm-toned red lipstick for a long time, and somehow this color is perfect for me! I know most will say its coral, but I have to agree with the posters who described it as more of a paprika. Its the perfect pop of color without being a harsh slash of red across my face. Will definitely buy it again!

I think that this is one of my favorite lipsticks from NARS. It is a very unique color that appears to be a bit un-flattering when you look at it in the tube. It is a pretty coral-peach color with shimmer (or frost). I am not usually a fan on shimmer/glitter/frost on the lips but this is color is sheer enought to be flattering and adds a nice amount of pigment and shimmer to the lips without being over bearing. It also has a great name! (beautiful liar - reminds me of Shakira and Beyonce). I tend to wear this color more in the spring and summer but I would definately recommend to all skin tones and types and would definately buy again, because i is completely worth the $24.

I love this lipstick. It is a beautiful orangy apricot with a subtle shimmer. It is perfectwith my NC15 skin but I could see this being a chameleon and looking good on most skintones. The fornula is sheer and doesn't have any taste or smell, which I find to be a big plus. It also wears really well for being a sheer formula. A winner that is worth the money. I will definitely keep this as a staple in my lipstick wardrobe.

This is a pretty coral and doesn't taste as bad as NARS lippies used to taste. I find it to be a rather reddish/orangish coral and it is pretty on my GGG skin but I can find the same if not better lippie out there for a whole lot less!

I love this lipstick as an everyday lipstick. The color is a very natural looking corally peach color. The color is very buildable and the lipstick itself is very hydrating to my lips. I didn't need to use chap stick before applying this. I don't regret spending the amount that I spent to buy this at all.

This is my new all time favorite lipstick! It is an awesome apricot coral shade with very subtle golden shimmer. It applies smoothly but isn't too creamy, so it doesn't slip and slide off your lips. Actually, I'm amazed at how long it lasted on me as lipstick tends to come off on me relatively quickly. I am wowed by this lipstick, seriously. I don't usually buy NARS lipsticks as they generally are nothing special, but this shade is seriously worth the $24 price tag. I don't think I have seen a dupe of this anywhere either. I have NC20/25 skin, but I think it would look good on any skin tone with warm undertones. I'll buy it again and again, and if they ever discontinue it I'll buy 10 backups (after I'm done weeping, of course). Trust me ladies, check this one out.

This is my new favorite lipstick. I really love the color, texture, and lack of taste.
Cost: $24 is a lot of money for lipstick. I would pay it again. This is the only reason this product is getting four lippies.
Color: This is a deep coral frost with gold shimmer. The color is fairly true to the tube appearance, even on my lips which are very pink. IMO, it is a great spring color. It is bright, but classy and looks great with more natural eye make-up.
Texture: It goes on creamy but does not stay creamy. This is a plus for me because if there is something creamy on my lips I will smack them together constantly. Even though the lipstick seems to set, it does not give my lips a dry or wrinkled appearance. I will say that when I tried this a Sephora, I was skeptical because the l/s sits out without a cap and dries out. This was not the case with a fresh tube.
Smell: Slight perfumey smell.
Taste: This lipstick has a slight perfumey taste when you put it on, but it wears off fairly quickly. If I lick my lips after having it on for an hour, I don't taste anything.
Wear: Color fades but still remains by midday. This is a feat for me as I am constantly rubbing my lips together and I tend to place my hand across my upper lip when I think. This is a troublesome habit with some lipsticks as the color transfers easily.

This is a great red/coral lipstick for my fairly light warm toned skin. I was wearing Gipsy for a 'red' look, but although it is a warm berry, I have found it to be a bit unflattering at times, it seems to bring out some ruddiness in my skin. Beautiful Liar does not, it makes me look really healthy, and I love the copper shimmer. Beautiful look for night.

Looks really orangy in the tube. So orangy, in fact, that I never had a desire to try it on. However, I was meeting a friend and had some time to kill, so I decided to try on some NARS lipsticks and took a chance with Beautiful Liar. What a pleasant surprise! This lipstick is a very subtle apricot bronze shade with golden shimmer. It is very light and sheer, and it is not as warm as you would think looking at it in the tube. You must wear it with other warm toned makeup, but it is not so warm that neutral toned girls can't pull it off. Give this lipstick a try next time you're near the NARS testers. Looks great with a tan!

A gorgeous warm coral/apricot. Slightly sheer and very moist. I love it. I think this is a color that best suits fair to medium, pale but "warmer" skin tones, blondes or redheads, and blue or green eyes. Really makes my blue eyes pop. I do use a lip liner (MAC's Gingerroot). Highly recommended.

Yes, this is more of an apricot shade, but I wouldn't go so far as to call it paprika. One of the nicest coral-type colors I've come around. Not too light for my medium skin and pigmented lips. Can be used as a wash or layered for intensity. Most coral colors are too light or bright orange me, so I see this as a golden, dark apricot, medium-intensity neutral. Very pretty, glowy finish. Non-drying and long-lasting.

This lipstick shade just did not work for me. The pigment or color was not strong enough. I will not buy this again. It looked like a shade which would work well for dark skin types but this was not the case.

NARS describes this as a "Sheer Spiced Coral" which is a little misleading as most people associate the colour "coral" as being somewhat orangey/red and bright whereas this is definitely more of a burnished apricot with warm shimmer laced through it. I'm the sort of person that only suits one lipstick out of every hundred so I always feel a deep sense of trepidation whenever I bite the bullet and order a lipstick sight unseen! Thankfully this was one lipstick out of a hundred for me and it brightens up my skintone and makes my lips sing! Gorgeous!!

Love the color. Just not sure if I love it on me. I've worn it and sometimes think it's too coral and other times (like right now) I think, it's so beautiful, classy, understated, sophisticated. I'm on the fence about this one. I'm wearing Mykonos as a wash, ashes to ashes in the crease - half-lid, black liquid liner, black mascara, madly blush and this and it looks so chic. Maybe that's what I was doing wrong before. Dunno. Still not 100% sure so gave it 3 lippies.

I'd been looking for the perfect coral ever since I noticed the color on Poppy Montgomery, one of the stars of "Without A Trace"; the color seemed to light up her face. I've bought Laura Mercier's "Coral" and "Iced Melon" and, while they were nice,, they still weren't "the one". After reading reviews on MUA, I decided to try "Beautiful Liar" and...it is The One! The color, on me, is a true coral, not orangey, not pinkish, but a soft, lovely, lightly-shimmering coral. It goes on moist and stays that way. I think it would go perfectly with Orgasm blush. I hope they never discontinue this shade.

Instant HG for me, as with all my other Nars lippies ! I'm a coral lipstick/gloss fanatic, so this was an instant hit. I waited patiently for my nars SA to call me with the news that it had arrived, I've had it for over 2 weeks now and only worn it once, house decorating takes away from makeup time ! It's not a typical coral on me, there are however a million versions of coral in the cosmetics world. This is a very soft medium peach/coral with really good pigmentation and a gorgeous shimmer on my very pigmented lips. Once the decorating is finished my Beautiful Liar will get alot of use, it looks great with my warm/neutral pale skin and what is for now auburn-brown hair. I highly recommend it for you warm toned lovelies !

This is truly a flattering shade for all complexions. I have a medium to tan complexion -- and this shade just brightens up my face! True -- it does have traces of coral but it isn't orangey as some coral shades are. The texture of the lipstick is not too drying either so even if it's extremely expensive, I am not sorry I bought it. This is my first NARS lippie and I think I will buy it again when it runs out.

I completely agree with the above reviewer on this one. This is a gorgeous color. It is not coral at all on me either. It is the color of Paprika which is lovely. It does not have tons of shimmer but it does have that lustre look to it when put on. It does stay on the lips and to me has a slight clean fragrance to it when first applied. I never noticed this from any other lipstick from Nars. They don't really have a scent.
The BEAUTFUL (no pun intended!) thing is that whoever packaged my order from Sephora did the poorest job I ever saw. It arrived in a box with N0 packaging inside at all. I had ordered the Beautiful Liar lipstick and 3 samples. The stuff was smashed but not broken (like the D & G perfume sample and the lipstick in its box. Everything else was torn. I have no clue whatsoever what happened to this order. Anyhow, I called and complained to Sephora and they are sending me a new full order free!!!! I am thrilled to have not just 1 but 2 lipsticks now!!! The samples are different as well because they sometimes change daily depending on stock. So yay all the way around! I love NARS but my wallet definitely suffers but the stuff is so gorgeous..................:)

Age: 36-43   Skin: Combination, Medium, Warm   Hair: Brunette, Wavy, Medium   Eyes: Brown

I can’t believe I’m the first to review this one! This is my first NARS lipstick. I’m normally a MAC / Dior / Lancome fanatic… Previously, I’ve tried on some of the NARS lippies in Sephora, but could not find one I liked, either they barely showed up or they were always too muddy on me, or too glimmery - I’m light to med yellowish skin-tone, and I have pigmented lips. I don’t know what it was, I just couldn’t find one I loved that flattered my complexion. But last week, I saw the new Sephora catalog, and saw the new colors for fall, and I decided to try again. So I bought “Beautiful Liar”, among some other NARS products, and decided to give the brand a good try.
Here goes:
This is a brand new lipstick from NARS for Fall 2008, called “Beautiful Liar”. NARS lists this shade as Sheer Spiced Coral. While I see the Spiced part, I really don’t find it to be coral on me. It’s more like somewhere in between spiced apricot and paprika. The color is gorgeous and has a beautiful sheen!!! It is a little shimmery, but not outrageously so. Stays on better than expected for a sheer. I put this on in the morning, drove to work while eating a piece of toast and drinking a cup of coffee, and when I arrived at work, most of it was still on and while it faded a little, it looked fairly even and didn’t look too bad. Without eating, this lasts several hours on me, which is a long time for me. This sheer formula goes on smooth, feels light and moisturizing on me. I detected a faint scent on this lippie, can’t describe it, but not offensive to me in any way, and did not smell it anymore after applying. No discernable flavor detected.
Backstory: 2 days before I bought this lippie, I bought 2 all natural lippies from Bare Escentuals – 1 in Sweet Apricot and 1 in Amaretto. They are both similar in color, 1 is a medium apricot, while the other is a bit deeper and a little warmer, each with a different sheen, I couldn’t decide which I like better! When I bought the NARS Beautiful Liar, I realized it was right in between the 2 shades of BE lipsticks and the NARS has a much more beautiful sheen on it than either of the two others, and feels nicer on the lips. Not to knock BE natural lipsticks, they are very nice, but the 2 BE lippies (as they are close in color to NARS) are going back to Sephora, and I am officially a member of the NARS fan club! (Oh, my poor wallet is crying!)
If I didn't have so many lippies, I'd buy again, but I like to change them so often and I have so many, I can't say if I would buy this shade again, however, I would definitely buy more NARS lippies again, now that I know how great they can be!

Pros:
Smooth,
light,
moisturizing,
beautiful color and sheen,
lasting power (for a sheer),
packaging is lovely

Cons:
Price
