This is a definite HG eyeshadow for me. I have blue eyes and pale skin, and this is everything I could ever want. Like all Bobbi Brown eyeshadows, it is extremely pigmented and it lasts forever, so I probably won't ever need to repurchase it (although if I do run out, I will). It's a shimmery taupe that really defines your eyes. I use it all over my eyelid and it looks great. SO quick and easy to apply. I love how you can buy the palette and choose to use them in the individual pans they come in or put them in the palette. No MAC eyeshadow compares to this, so even though it's a bit more expensive, I definitely recommend it.

I received this eye shadow as a mini sample. It is basically a basic taupe color with some slight blue/silver metallic sheen to it. It is a good color to add to your outer V. As I didnt buy this product, I dun find this an interesting color. Think of this as a staple like a basic black eyeshadow which u use to complete a look rather than a beautiful looking eyeshadow. In fact I use this on my eye brow as I have extremely oily skin. After using this, I will use my eyebrow pencil for more definition. The reason why I wont repurchase this is bcos I have been using this color everyday for at least 1 yr and it is still 95% full. haha This is gonna last me forever. If I hit pan one day, I am just gonna buy refill pans from mac as they r cheaper than BB.

This e/s is a great everyday taupe color - a real workhorse. It leans cool, to me, with a bit of a silvery cast. The perfect brown/grey metallic combo with a bit of shimmer. There is no shimmer fallout at all - perfectly work appropriate. I will definitely hit pan on this color.

I bought this eyeshadow at Murale for $26 CDN. Bobbi brown's site calls it a silvery beige brown and I guess that's sorta right....if you take out the beige. It's more of a silvery taupe brown. When you apply it you see a silver sheen and can be layered for more intensity. The formula is harder than say Stila's but I don't like overly soft eyeshadows because it makes it harder to pack on the color without having it on your undereye area. The packaging is bland but practical. It has a little window that shows you what shade it is and can also be popped into one of Bobbi Brown's customizable compacts. I like to pair this shade with MAC Smut, Style Snob, and Shroom for a taupey brown smokey eye. If you're a taupe lover, don't miss out on this one!

Since BB's metallic shadows last well on me, I work with the shadows' graininess & sheerness by applying with my fingers. Then, it's all fine. That said, in the line-up of boring colors, there's no stand-out except for Brown Stone. It is a surprisingly ugly color. The sheer yet darkish pigment, together with the shimmer particles, make an unattractive mess on my lids. BB does not do metaliics well. They remind me of the shadows in L'oreal's HIP duos. For the money, I expect more.

The name is kind of misleading; I was expecting a warmer brown color with some shimmer. This appears more like a silvery ashen shade, with hardly any brown or cocoa color, perhaps because my own skin tone is brown, so the color washes out to a gray. That said, it still is a very nice eye color and can brighten the eyes. This reminds me a lot of UD Underground shade. The consistency is very smooth. I use this with BB cocoa shadow in the crease and black ink fluid liner to complete the look.

Brown Stone is described on the Bobbi Brown website as "silvery beige brown." I am more inclined to agree with the other posters here that it is more of a taupe shade -- sort of a grey and brown combo. It's really, really beautiful. It's both subtle and shimmery at the same time if that's possible. It's not too light and not too dark. Just perfect. I love Bobbi Brown shadows. I own them all, and this one is one of my favorites.

Like many others, I also received this as a sample a few months ago. I absolutely love it and will purchase when the sample runs out. It's a gorgeous gray/brown that's soft and smoky. Works well with Banana and shimmer wash Champagne.

Got this as a sample from BB and love it! Will most likely invest in the full-sized, and, Bobbi... you better NOT discontinue this one! :o)
I love this silvered-brown eyeshadow in the crease with BB Banana e/s on the lids; or, on the outer thirds of my lids with a silver highlighter (MAC Silver Fog Pigment) on the inner thirds of the lids. So versatile and so very pretty! My only query would be why this eyeshadow is considered "metallic," because this one is not overly frosty, shiny, or metallic at all- at least not on MY lids! I think it would be even more fantastic if it were more metallic... but still, I love it just the way it is, too!

Ever since BB changed to the sleek square pans, I have been paying more attention to this line. I have noticed many new colors and a certain smoothness to the formula. Maybe, it is the change in formula or maybe the ease of organization. Either way, the line has found a place in my stash.
Brown Stone reminds me of George Clooney. George is a man with a medium brown complexion with salt and pepper hair. Brown Stone is medium neutral brown with a silver metallic finish. See the similarity? Ok, maybe it is just me but I just call this my George Clooney color.
The texture compared to the old round ones is much smoother and adhere to the lid better. I also find it easier to blend than the previous formula. The pigment is anywhere from sheer to full coverage. For full coverage, I use my finger to get a concentrated amount of color rather than a brush. I do neutralize my eye area first to cover any discoloration and the eye base that I use is Fast Fix eye shadow base by Carmindy (Sally Hansen). I use this color with BB Flesh as a base and this one on the lid to crease. Then choose a eyeliner of my liking. The color isn't too metallic and looks polished in any setting from work to evening. Great for mature lids too. I find the color lasts all day with a good eye base. Definitely, a color to have if you like neutrals or even George Clooney!

Same color as the old formulation "Stone", but the powder does seem softer and creamier.

This is a great color! I really love it. I have the sample from NM and I will be repurchasing when it runs out. Just a nice earthy brown, not red at all. Very nicely pigmented. BB eyeshadows in the regular size are a generous portion for the price.

When I received a sample of Bobbi Brown Metallic Eyeshadow in Brownstone I didn't think I could wear such a dark color on my lid. Wow, I was totally wrong! I learned that this product was designed to be 1) creaseless, 2) creamy in appearance, and 3) designed with a patented technology that allows you to build and layer this shadow to your designed intensity. So I can wear it very sheer or really build it up along my lashline. I feel like it applies best when it is pressed to the lid with my fingertip or a flat brush.

Brown Stone is a warm medium taupe, satin matte finish with slight shimmer. I like the new formulation, this one goes on like butter, pigmented and doesn't skip at all or flakes like some of her older shadows. I am using this as a wash of color but fairer skin can use this as a contour. I am sure you can also use this for shading cheeks or bronzer--its has enough brown in it.

I got the good-sized sample of this that BB had for a while as a sample with purchase on her website. I wasn't sure I'd like it, since I don't like brown shadows generally or anything very glittery. But the metallic quality is very, very subtle, and this brown has so much gray in it that I can wear it quite well. In fact, it's become a shadow I turn to often, because it looks nice but not showy. I am green-eyed cool-toned. The gray cools the brown down enough for me.

Taupe lovers should not miss this one!
I bought a tiny sample size off eBay, just to try out the color, and I'm very pleased.
If you missed MAC's excellent Starflash shadow "Smoke & Diamonds," "Brown Stone" is probably about as near to a dupe as you're going to get.
"Brown Stone" is fairly smooth(though maybe not *quite* as smooth as Starflash), richly pigmented, with a silvery pearl-like sheen and no glitter.
The color of "Brown Stone" is a little difficult to describe. Medium-to-deep shimmery taupe is not quite adequate. " Brown Stone" is approximately equal parts brown and gray. "Smoky brown" is the best I can do. Yes, it *is* metallic, but not in an OTT way at all. There is shimmer, but it takes the form of a smooth, even sheen, featuring no glitter. It can easily be a daytime shadow.
It makes a lovely crease shade for my jade green eyes. Even though Bobbi Brown's full size shadows are a bit pricey, at $20 USD, I'll definitely consider a full size once my sample runs out. This is a color you don't see every day.
UPDATE/COLOR NOTE: I've had a chance to do some side by side comparisons, and "Brown Stone" doesn't look as much like "Smoke & Diamonds" as I'd first thought. It's not nearly as gray; "Brown Stone" is closer to MAC's "Satin Taupe." Since making this discovery, I've decided that I probably will not buy "Brown Stone" again; I prefer "Satin Taupe" by a small margin, and will just stay with it.
