Jumpin' Junkanoo is on my nails as I type this review and it looks great! I wanted to squeeze in a bright color before moving into darker shades for fall. JJ is a gorgeous pink with tiny hints of shimmer when you look at it up close. It compliments my fair skin very well too. My only gripe about it is I find it very hard to apply! I always have trouble with streaking so have to bring it to my nail salon and have them apply it. But still, it's worth it!

All reviewers below me summed this shade up pretty well- medium pink, hint of purple, jelly finish. It looks a lot prettier on than it does in the bottle! Even though it's just a medium pink, it's not a boring shade of pink at all...the purple undertones (very slight but noticeable) make it pop a little. The fact that it's darker makes it less juvenile, but it's still bright enough that it doesn't look too old. I did have to apply 3 coats of this to get it looking opaque (I guess that's due to the fact that it's a jelly as opposed to a creme) which can be a little time consuming, but I'm happy enough with the results to not mind so much!

This is a great pink. However it requires 3 coats so I give it a big thumbs down.
I don't have time for three coats. This is the second Essie polish that I purchased this year that requires three coats.
Edit - Okay so it requires four coats. This is going in the trash. I've tried thick coats and thin coats and the only way to get it to look good is 4 thin coats. Nail polish should not be this difficult.

I can't believe it has taken me so long to purchase Jumpin' Junkanoo when I like it so much! Strangely, it was the colour that excited me least when Essie released it as part of their Bahamas collection back in 2007. After picking up and putting it back the last couple of times I have seen it, I finally decided to purchase and am so glad I did. This is a beautiful medium, almost rosey pink, with a tiny touch of purple that stops it from being too young and bubblegum-like. In the bottle, fine pink coloured micro-shimmer is visible, though this all but disappears on the nail (I can see it in the sunlight if I look closely, but I doubt anyone else would ever notice it). This is a bit of a shame, but nevertheless, this is still a nice polish. Application isn't too bad - the formula is very thin so the first coat is a little sheer and streaky for me. A (thicker) second coat evens things out and makes the shade opaque (if you apply polish in thin coats it will probably take 3 to become opaque). Essies always last well on me so I can get about 4 days wear out of this polish. I would re-purchase if I ever run out. Whilst I tend to go for either very pale or very dark polishes, Jumpin' Junkanoo is a welcome change for me and is classy enough to wear at work, whilst not looking too boring for other more fun days.

Lovely medium pink that manages not to be too cool because of its sheer consistency. Jelly-like, buildable color. One is nearly clear, two is an inobtrusive sheer pink, and three or more is a rich yet very soft color (as seen in others' pictures).

This color is soo pretty! It took 3 coats for the color to become really rich, which I totally don't mind! The color looks exactly like the bottle. Love it.

This is a very pretty raspberry-pink color with the tiniest hint of purple tone in there. It looks darker/deeper pink on my nails than the pic from essie.com or the first reviewer, probably due to my medium skin tone. One coat is a sheer pink jelly shade and two coats looks exactly like the color in the bottle. It looks like there are subtle sparkles in the bottle, but that sparkle doesn't show up at all on my nails which I like because it looks mature and classy, yet is still a fun color. Hasn't chipped after 1 week of wear. I used to always wear barely noticeable work-appropriate nail colors like essie mademoiselle or chanel ballerina, but I find that this is great for work too. I love it!

This is such a pretty color! It is a medium, blue based pink jelly with very subtle pink shimmer. It's bottle color with two coats. The first coat seems very sheer because it's a jelly, but the second coat fixes it. Wear is normal for me, no chips and minimal tipwear for the four days I had it on. This is one of my favorite work appropriate colors.

I really love this color! It's a beautiful purplish pink creme shade that is very slightly sheer and almost like jelly type of polish. It's nicely opaque in two coats and paints on perfectly with no streaking. It's dries very fast also but I do use the Seche Vite dry fast top coat when I paint my nails. I have natural nails and so far have had no chips after three days with this color. You can see a photo of this color on my notepad :)
