At $52 a pop - Chanel Quads are a splurge for sure - but reflets d'ombre is very wearable (day to night) and contains a unique green/brown/gray accent shade which is great for outer corners, crease or used as a liner. The gold highlighter is gorgeous and multi-dimensional.
As with all Chanel Shadows, pigment is dense and wears well.
This Quad is a beauty!

Whenever I would pass by the Chanel counter, I used to think Reflets D'Ombre was an interesting quad, but I shied away from it due to the "green" eyeshadow. After discovering this site and reading the reviews for this product, I became more intrigued and would find myself testing the "green" eyeshadow. I had a SA at SFA put the eyeshadow on me...and she played it safe using the gold shade on my eyelids and used the "green" as an accent color on the outer corners of my eyes. I was happy with her use of the palette and bought it.
I decided the play with what I thought was "green" and used it on my lids as the main color. On my tan, Asian skin, the color that I thought was "green" turned out to be a beautiful, soft gray toned teal. It's absolutely gorgeous! On me, the color is not overpowering and can be used for a smokey eye without looking too dark, like some eyeshadows can do. It does take some practice to work with this color since it is highly pigmented. The teal and the dark brown shadow blend beautifully together...the gold and cream shadows can be used as highlighters...
Needless to say, I'm so happy that I bought this quad! It gives me a different look and makes me feel beautiful!

I am loving this quad! I got it after having a makeover at my Chanel counter for the new Rouge Coco lipstick. When the MUA took this quad out to try on me, I was a bit doubtful, as I've never put teal on my brown eyes before. However, once she got it on me, I was amazed! My eyes looked deep and smokey, and browner than they ever had before.

Today, I wore a more toned-down version of the look to work, and got tons of compliments. I used the teal color on my lids, the taupey-brown in my crease and "v", and mixed the gold and ivory together to highlight my brow bone. Beautiful! Paired with a dark, dark brown eyeliner, the look was amazing.

The shadows stayed in place all day with no fading or creasing (although I was wearing a primer). Colors stayed true all day.

On application, it takes very little product to get the look you want, since the shadows are very pigmented. They blend like a dream. They complement one another very well, although you wouldn't know it to look at the palette (at least, I didn't think they would).

Overall, this is a great quad that will give me many, many different looks for both day or night and for any season, depending on which colors I use and the intensity with which I apply them. I'm so happy with this purchase! Will repurchase if I ever go through this.

Click on continue for pic. I work in the operating room so I wear scrubs, a mask, and a scrub hat 5 days a week. Since I cannot express myself through outfits, hair, or jewelry, or perfume I find myself spending alot of time on my makeup in the morning. Particularily my eyemake up since the rest of my face is behind a mask all day. So instead of spending my money on work outfits it goes to eyeshadow lol. Walking past the Chanel counter the other day I saw this quad and it caught my attention. Firstly I had recently seen a couple of very hot tutorials using similar colors and secondly the colors in this quad are very different than in others. I really like this quad. The first time I put it on it was way too sexy for work so I had to tone it down alot but let me tell you... this quad is super hot! As with all of my shadows I use Chanel fluid iridescent in source as a base and the shadow stays put all day. I found that all the colors have good pigmentation (the white color makes a very pretty shimmery nonchalky highlight). I use the gold as a wash, the brown in the crease and the green in the outer V with black liner on the top lash line and chanel jade on the lower lash lane with black liner over it. super hot on my NC25/Chanel Soft Bisque skin. Highly recommend.

This review is for the four-pan Chanel eyeshadow quad that was released in Fall/Winter/Holiday 2008. It retailed for $53 US and contained four jewel-toned shimmery shadows: ivory, gold, green and brown. The ivory shadow is a true ivory and didn’t chalk out too badly on my GGG/DDD NC45 skin, which is a first for pale Chanel shadows. The gold is a true gold, the green looks emerald-y but applies like a bluegreen teal, and the brown is a neutral bronzy brown. The sparkle in these shadows make them perfect for evening although, when carefully applied, they can be used for daytime looks as well. To get true color on the lid, you must use a good primer (I use Chanel professional eyeshadow base for Chanel shadows).

The GOOD: The packaging is classic and luxe with an excellent high quality mirror. You get versatile neutrals (except for the gold, they aren’t particularly warm or cool). Other than the green/teal, which scores points for looking one way in the pan and completely differently in the lid, the colors are not particularly unique or exceptional, but they are very pretty. The powder shadows but apply like cream and blend into each other very easily.

The BAD: The shadows wear off during the day and the shimmer migrates somewhat so by the end of the day you end up with more shimmer than color. The shimmer itself, while subtle, is also somewhat flat (compared to Dior, Chantecaille, Stila). The texture is sort of dry - they shadows can even look “dry” and crepey on the lid (as opposed to higher quality shadows that look smooth on your lids). As such, these shadows look “heavy” and somewhat aging on the lids if you apply too much. Also, I can’t really figure out how to use the green/teal with the rest of the colors. It would have made more sense if it was actually green, but since it applies more like a mermaid-y blue green, I use it with other eye stuff.

BOTTOM LINE: This quad is MEH. It’s very pretty and decent quality but way too much money for four shadows that are just OK. This is a must-have for no one but nice to have if it falls in your lap (I got mine by swapping away something I was equally MEH about). Because of the insane price:quality ratio, I can't even give it three lippies.

I’m officially done with Chanel quads – I do like the JC blushes but there are much better eyeshadow products out there for much less money. I can't think of another HE shadow that is as flat as the Chanel. Stila, for example, blows Chanel out of the water when it comes to shadows.

I love the package of the Chanel products. It's so classy. I also love the colours of this quad. I think they're nice to combine. I think the eyeshadow smells a bit weird.

This jewel -toned eye shadow quad is simply gorgeous -- dramatic, rich, elegant for day into night. I have a fabulous collection of Chanel makeup that I've collected over the years -- all are favorites but this one stands out because of it's uniqueness. The colors were inspired by Coco Chanel's beautiful Parisian apartment, and are utterly wearable, with the neutral tones of a taupey, shimmery coffee; an irridescent pearl-white; a luminous, bright but subtle gold; and a deep, smokey forest teal: color combinations that provide a gorgeous palette of light to intense that when blended together are stunning. I love this quad and knew it was a must have after the Chanel make-up artist's expert application. I use the gold all over the lid, the white under the brow bone, the coffee in the crease and outer portion of the lid, and the smokey teal in the corners and along the upper and lowere lash lines.
Absolutely beautiful!

Great quad!! All of these years, I haven’t been too thrilled by Chanel quads. I have only found one, Spices, that I have liked enough to buy. None of the colour combos really appealed to me that much. Enter Reflets D'Ombre… First of all, these shadows are surprisingly pigmented and very soft. Super easy to blend and work with. The wonderful texture makes the wonderful colours of this quad a pleasure to use and wear. The major downside is the incredibly poor lasting power. I have dry eyelids, not oily at all, and this will crease and fade and whatnot in a matter of hours. Like four. (I had this applied during a Chanel make-over, loooved it, bought it and a bunch of other goodies, did some more shopping, then got home, looked in the mirror, and was disappointed!)The problem solver is my trusty Too Faced Shadow Insurance. With that, everything is a-okay. Here’s a run-down on each colour:
Brown -> A very pigmented, medium brown with shimmer. Cool-toned. Looks gorgeous on me. My favourite shade! I like it for a daytime brown smokey eye. Very sexy but subtle (well, for me anyways).
Ivory -> The highlight shade of the bunch. I didn’t expect to be excited by this one.. but then the first time I used it, I fell in love. Verrrrrry shimmery. It is like sweeping on pure shimmer. Shimmer without any chalky white pigment underneath, if that makes sense. Different from my other favoured highlight shades, and a worthy addition to my highlighting collection!!
Gold -> A yellow-y, soft gold. My least favourite shade, no surprise there. I’m fair and cool-toned, and I harbour a huge huge gigantic fear of warm eye shadows. Huge fear of looking orange. Well, this gold isn’t too bad as an accent shade, I have to admit. Wouldn’t wear it over my whole lid, though. Best blended with the pretty brown.
Dark teal/blue -> Is it blue, is it green? A colour that will look different on everyone. Looks more teal on me. Also great with the pretty brown, as it should:) I like using it wet as an eyeliner, as well.
In conclusion, this is a great quad that I’m glad I bought. I don’t think it’s LE, thankfully. If you’re considering a Chanel quad but aren’t sure which one to buy, get this one!! (One lippie off for the sucky lasting power. Since most shadows do not crease on me, these ones must be especially bad.)

Wow! I have been collecting Chanel quads for a few years now, and this is one of my faves. I use the white/ivory for highlighter & inner eye corner, the Gold on the ball part of my eyelid, the brown in crease and then the teal green on outer half of eye and blend, blend, blend into the gold and then line eye with the green (upper only for day, whole eye for night). I can easily go from day to night just by intensifying the green and brown for a smoky type look, but keep it subtle for day with the gold and white. I almost didnt buy this one, but I am so glad I did. I hope its not LE, I may need to replace this in about 2 years when I use it up.

Oooooooh I love this LE quad from Chanel!! The colors are beuatiful and they blend really well. I took one lippie off because the gold colour in it doesn't show up on me so I use All that Glitters from MAC instead. The blue/green one is such a beautiful color! It makes my blue eyes pop. The highlight color is a glitter one and that's super!! I totally love it.... I'm in love with all my Chanel and Dior Quads actually :)

This is not a horrible quad, but it's rather boring. Ivory and brown are ok, not fresh or exciting, but wearable, the gold is pretty but really is only used as a pop in the middle of the lid. The worst is that green - it turns teal which reminds me of the 80's pink and teal explosion that I never liked even for dining room chairs. If the dark green stayed dark green, I would've been sold, but this teal is dirty looking, without an power, oomph, or even saturation. My eyes looked old and tired with this on. There are better gold-themed quads out there. And somehow, the formula is itching my eyes, which is something Chanel shadows never did.

This is the new quad for Fall 2008. Per Chanel, the colors are coffee, ivory, gold,& dark green. They all have subtle shimmer just by looking at the pan but on my lid it's more of a sheen. Here's how it looks like on my lid:
1) Coffee--true to color; med.brown with sheen; can be used on it's own; very pigmented
2)Ivory--great highlighter; I used it under my brows and inner corners of my eyes; also true to color
3)Gold--it is gorgeous on the pan (if you like gold) but hardly showed up on my lid; I don't use it alone as I have to pack the color to show up a bit
4)Dark Green--true to color; it actually looks teal on me; very pigmented; Great eye liner or for smoky look; I can use this and the brown on it's own
Overall,I really like this pallette. It doesn't give my eyes the "wow" factor but I'm loving the fact that it's pretty neutral. Great from day to night. I didn't find the colors unique unlike the black/olive green color in Winter Nights. All the shadows were silky smooth to me and blended easily.I hope it doesn't get chalky on me.I only used this lightly and dry without a primer. Maybe if I applied this wet, the colors would pop more and give me the "wow" effect. Also, I have med.olive skintone with yellow undertones. As for lasting power on my very oily lids, about 8 hrs before it creases, less if it's too hot. It's pricey but this palette is growing on me that I'm considering a backup.
